AndyJ - hope Emma is recovering from her bite. It's just a phase some kids go through, and they don't even necessarily do it in anger, more a sort of "what happens if I do this?" My dd1 bit Iris pretty badly a few times, sometimes in frustration and jealousy, but a couple of times she was just bored and I think she wanted to liven things up! Certainly achieved that!

Leo - how are you feeling at the moment? I've lost track of how many weeks you are. Hopefully you're not suffering too badly with morning sickness etc. Have you decided if you're going to find out the gender in advance?

I've got two more days at work, then a weeks holiday in Wales with my parents. The girls are at the childminder, the latest excitement being that yesterday Iris escaped from her travel cot TWICE! So I'm not sure how they're going to tackle her nap today, now she's an escape artist.

leogaela · 23/08/2006 10:26

Pidge, 11 weeks today!!!

I have been really lucky wiht the morning sickness, it was much worse with Niklas. But i've been really careful not to get too tired, eat somethign small at least every 2 hours and drink plenty. I think its helped.

Its a bit impractical not to find out the gender of the twins in advance, but I really don't want to know. I prefer to wait!

I'm also off on holiday on Saturday (or have I mentioned it 100 times already - I'm quite excited about it !) We are going to Tuscany for 3 weeks!!!!!

Hey - 11 weeks, that's great! You're nearly at the blooming stage of the second trimester. Maybe you'll bloom twice as much with twins .

If you say before every scan "I don't want to know the gender" you should be able to still get a surprise. I was always so mystified by scan pics I was doing well if I identified head, body and limbs! Do you know how often you'll be offered scans?

Have a fantastic time in Tuscany.

leogaela · 23/08/2006 14:11

Unfortunately I don't feel very blooming today , hopefully I'll feel better over the holiday.

I think that I will have a scan everytime i visit my doctor (he has his own ultrasound equipment) and i've been told to expect to visit him every 2 weeks , what a drag! On one hand its really nice to be scanned quite often and to see my little twins growing, but on the other hand I do wonder whether the scan disturbs them ! some people think it does.

Pidge - thanks, you too, have a great week in Wales !

Just a quickie to say have a good holiday in Tuscany Leo, and enjoy your week in Wales Pidge.

Leo - I still can't quite believe you're having twins - feel so excited for you! Just reading your last post made me feel a little broody, but we are definitely not having any more. I always said 40 would be the cut off!

Well, we are off on our hols on Saturday - we have a week in Northern Majorca. We're renting a villa and taking my parents along which is something we do every alternate year, and works well as dh gets on really well with them. The weather has been so rubbish here for the last week that I'm really looking forward to getting some sun!

Still no word from Busy - hope she is ok.

leogaela · 24/08/2006 12:52

And Enjoy Mallorca Bonym. my sister kind of lives there so I've been several times. Its a really lovely island !

'See' you all when i get back!

Hiya - Am back from holiday to find that this thread has really hotted up again - nice to see it so busy.
Will have a good read a bit later and catch up with you all.

JoPG · 24/08/2006 18:35

Double Congratulations Leo! V exciting news!

Now, back to my reading!

AndyJ · 24/08/2006 20:36

Wow everyone is going away on hols! Hope you all have a good time and try to log on while you are away.

Leo - I hope you are feeling better and that the holiday in Tuscany is relaxing.

DD is recovered from bite on nose thanx but now has a nasty stomach bug. There is always something isn't there? She is asleep at the moment but very restless - keeps scratching me with her long toe nails [note to self: cut DDs toe nails!]

JoPG · 24/08/2006 21:46

Hi AndyJ - Nice to meet you. Look forward to hearing about Emma's exploits

jambot · 26/08/2006 06:00

Hi All. Just got back from our holiday. Had a great time. Off to go and fetch Lauren from my M & D. Can't wait. Have really missed her and we went a bit mad on buying some stuff for her, including a huge stuffed dog that we bought in Germany. Italy was great, but glad to be back. Catch up soon.

Pidge · 27/08/2006 16:25

Welcome back jambot! I bet you'll be thrilled to have Lauren back with you.

We're in Wales with my parents. Had a great morning at the Punch and Judy festival on the sea front. Then I did a big run at lunchtime in preparation for a half marathon I have looming. Now the girls are off with dp and my dad, throwing sticks into the nearby stream and chatting with the sheep!

popsycal - I wait with baited breath your MIL's achievements with Harry's sleep!

We've had two disastrous nights in a row - Iris spent almost 2 hours calling for dp, who she's now taken to calling "danow" (=Daniel). She just kept shouting "daaaaaaaaaaaaaaanow" repeatedly, and then crying and saying "danow gone", and nothing could console her till she finally got herself back to sleep at about 2am. Then the following night we were staying at friends en route here, and dd2 got up SEVEN times over a period of two hours. Unbelievable.

Anyway - I was thinking of you popsycal, because just with those two bad nights were were both shattered, so I can't imagine how you cope on a permanent basis.

jambot · 27/08/2006 18:22

Well, we have our darling child back. I burst into tears when I saw her standing in the door of my Mum and Dads. She looked so grown up and beautiful - felt like I had't seen her for months, not two weeks. She had a wonderful time with Granny and Grampy and has settled back into being at home as if nothing had happened.
After our trip to Italy, we are seriously thinking of looking at property there. We love SA, but the crime situation is getting really serious and we have to really sit down and think if we want to bring our children up behind high walls and electric fencing and watching your back every time you step outside your door. The freedom I had growing up has become a thing of the past and that's really sad. Was so relaxing not having to worry about our safety whilst on holiday. Would be a major decision to make but it's one we have to consider for the sake of Lauren and any other children we may have.
Still no sign of Busy?? What on earth...?

JoPG · 28/08/2006 19:44

Jambot - Glad you had a great holiday. It must have been lovely to see Lauren though. Hope she liked her gifts.

We had a great holiday in Portugal - Freya enjoyed the sand, but was a little wary of the ocean - not surprising really since it is the Atlantic and the waves were really strong at times. We went to a couple of water parks and she went down a few slides which she found hilarious. I will post some piccies later.

We ate out most nights and (quite surprisingly) she coped with the later nights really well. She slept in every morning and then had a nice long siesta in the afternoon, which was great cos it kept her out of the sun during the hottest part of the day.

Ethan had a great time too, loads of swimmimg and games of frizbe with Dad.

AndyJ · 29/08/2006 19:17

Hi JoPG thanks for the welcome to the group I am really enjoying getting to know everybody. It is great that people go on holiday but still log on to catch up with each other. We went on holiday to Greece in June and like Freya, Emma was very wary of the sea. We went for two weeks and just at the end of the two weeks she started to enjoy paddling in the sea. It was a real shame as we could have had some great fun and it would have helped her cool down as it was very hot.

Pidge - are you looking forward to the half marathon. I have just started running again after about 6 years! I am following a training programme I found in a book. This week it is run for 1 minute, walk for 2 minutes 7 times. This would probably be a warm up for you!

There are a lot of things I don't know about this site yet - such as how to post photos! Hopefully I will catch up soon.

Pidge · 31/08/2006 13:13

AndyJ - I'm getting increasingly excited about the 1/2 marathon. It's at the end of September, so not long to go now, and am trying to fit in some long runs to get my little legs used to the idea of running that far! Come and join us over on the running thread in Sport if you fancy - there are beginners and old timers.

We just took the kids swimming this morning which they loved. The lifeguard pulled out this little slide - about 2 foot high, and both dd1 and Iris adored climbing up and then hurtling down into the water.

AndyJ · 31/08/2006 21:46

Thanks Pidge, I will definitely look up the running thread. I am definitely a beginner - as my muscles are letting me know at the moment . Love the idea of a half marathon though maybe it will be something to aim for.

Emma not overly keen on water at the moment but I have to admit I haven't tried to take her swimming for ages maybe it is time to give that another go too.

JoPG · 01/09/2006 13:13

I have added a couple of photos to the photobucket from our holiday.
Love the new ones of Cleo and Iris

jambot · 01/09/2006 19:46

Great new pics of the girls. I've also added some recent ones of Lauren. Just love her to bits right now. Her little personality is really developing and she has a really great sense of humour - quite the little joker. Very much into looking after her 'babas' - 'feeding them, bathing them, giving cuddles etc. Very sweet. Her latest things are an obsession with chairs and making shadow animals against the wall. Still not much happening in the way of talking. Lots of grunting, with the odd, once-off word thrown in. She has quite a repetoire of noises that I've learned to understand. Though I've told her that I'm not responding to monkey noises now, she has to talk!

Pidge · 02/09/2006 20:51

Fab new pics of Freya and Lauren!

We are back from our latest hols - a 7 1/2 hour trip from Wales, including horrible traffic jam on the M4. Iris was unimpressed and shouted "down, down" or "biscuit" for most of the journey. She must have eaten about her body weight in sandwiches, crackers, raisins etc, as that was the only way to stop her yelling.

Whilst we've been away Iris has totally lost the ability to put herself to sleep, and we've had to sit in the room with her or she goes beserk. That wouldn't be so bad, but she has also as a result started waking up during the night and requiring us to sit there till she goes back to sleep. So now we're home we are trying to get her back in her old routine. Not much fun this evening, as she was unimpressed at being abandoned, despite our repeated return visits and reassurances.

Popsycal - this is nothing on your sleep woes. Any news on how Harry is doing?

And Leogaela - hope you are feeling a bit perkier now you're in the 2nd trimester.

calebsmum · 05/09/2006 16:07
