Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Loopyhasanotherbean · 01/04/2013 14:35

Re contraception, I had to drop ds1 down to one feed per 24 hours before AF returned, which I wanted it to do so I could have ds2! So I'm not expecting to need to worry about it whilst ds2 is feeding from me, besides which, we are that knackered at night since ds2 arrived for it to be much of an issue anyhow Blush

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 01/04/2013 15:30

FFS!!!! D&v has hit the dream household for the third time since February. No shit. This is unfair. DD this time, starting with a bang in aldi, where I had no spare clothes, or anything, of course....

Rhythm method worked well for us. Dh worried now, as we seem relatively fertile and we don't want more yet if ever I say we, I mean dh, I'd like one more

4 steps on Saturday, 7 yesterday, s is going great guns. He's like a rat up a drainpipe up the stairs too. I'm a bit sad b is so far behind. I've even started to practice what i preach to help him now. I'm shocked at what he can't do, I'd barely noticed til I tried to do some patterning/ exercises with him today Blush

GreenOlives · 01/04/2013 16:57

Not expecting to be that lucky loopy, af returned 6 weeks after DS1 despite ebf and I've had some ovulation type pains already and DS2 is only 5 weeks old (and ebf)so Im expecting her to make an appearance sooner rather than later again! Sad
dream I am brooking no argument that the boys escape this bout of D&V and that is clears off quick for DD too! Well done to S for his walking and don't worry about B, im sure he'll soon catch up. DS1 was slower with motor skills but a very early talker with a big vocab, they are all so different but ultimately it seems to even out in the end Smile

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 01/04/2013 20:45

Thanks olives, I need to stop the paranoia (their cousin had global developmental delay, wasn't even pulling to stand at 2 and speech delayed, his sister is also speech delayed and she's at school now, still affected). to be fair, he's ok now, aged 8. Dh's brother was speech delayed too as a child, even at Uni his nickname was 'mumbles' ! DD is a bit speech delayed, but fx getting some words and improvement at last, 2 1/2 now. So I'm a bit touchy about it :) . It's also a shame the other two go off and play and he's stuck.

Anyway, all in bed, though little DD is 39.5. Again. Poor children. Please, please let the boys escape.

That's really unlucky with the af too olives, I hope she is giving false alarms and stays away a bit longer...

BartletForTeamGB · 01/04/2013 21:44

dream, that sounds so tough. Hope you get a spell of everyone being well very soon.

olives, AF, stay away! Surely that is supposed one of the great benefits of BFing that you don't need to worry about AF.

I think DS has had slapped cheek this last week. He has been really tired and grumpy in the afternoons, although quite happy the rest of the time, and I thought he just had a cold, but on Saturday, he developed the most startling bright red cheeks that have only begun to settle down today.

GreenOlives · 02/04/2013 07:51

There's a lot of slapped cheeks about at the moment bartlet DS only had a mild dose of it and it sounds like your DS is hopefully near the end of his dose!
Illness is rife here too. DS1 has not really been 100% since DS2 was born, cold/cough symptoms and sporadic temperatures. Think we'll have to admit defeat and head to the docs today, it will be busy after the long bh weekend! He's been febrile since Friday but last night the drugs couldn't keep his temp down and we reached the dizzy heights of 40.7!Sad Poor DS2 is really snotty too and struggled to feed overnight as he couldn't breath properly Sad And I am knackered Sad Things can only get better!

Stacks · 02/04/2013 09:22

So sorry to hear about all the poorly LOs. DS has had a tiny bit of a cough/cold for a couple of weeks now. Luckily it's more a cute occasional cough and a bit snotty overnight, rather than a full on illness.

My dads doing much better, though I'm appalled at the care he's received. He was stuck in ICU for 4 days (was meant to be 1) due to lack of beds/nurses elsewhere (I think, no one was actually clear on of he was well enough to move). The first night they woke him at 3:30am for a bed bath, then got him up out of bed and into a chair at 5:30am and wouldn't let him back to bed till evening. After 6 hours with a numb backside he managed to get a pillow! They took out his chest drains and stitched up the holes without anaesthetic too!

I'm sitting in the car outside baby clinic while DS sleeps. He's just woke up though, so time to go get him weighed.

cakes82 · 02/04/2013 09:30

Hi all and a late Happy Easter! Well done S with the walking
Re contraception had one af just around 6wk check I think then had implant and I think between that and ebf not a sign of af since. DD is 6months on Thurs. Had implant as wanted something I didn't have to think about at all, read up on coil and it said about checking threads and didn't fancy that,,,
Hope ill DC get better quickly!

TheLittleFriend · 02/04/2013 11:02

Hi all, hope you all enjoyed Easter.

Sorry there are still poorly brooking children. Fx everyone's better soon.

J had been doing well at night, feeding at about 7/8pm ish, about midnight, 3am, then 6/7am. But the reduction in feeds has given me mastitis. On antib's now for it.

He still is up struggling with his tummy, but he is definitely getting more sleep before this starts now, so I'm hopeful it will continue to improve until it stops completely!

musicalmrs · 02/04/2013 15:30

Hope everyone had a lovely brooking Easter! Mine was filled with lots of family visits. In fact, so are the next couple of weeks. Absolutely no idea how I'm going to get all my work done...

Dream, sorry about yet more D&V - brooking it clears up soon for you! Hurrah for S! I'm sure B will catch up soon...

Olives, contraception wise we've gone for the mini pill. I'm a bit paranoid about getting PG when I don't want to so couldn't just go for the rhythm method, despite the fact I don't think I'm fertile yet. That said, my cervix and EWCM keep doing barmy things, despite no AF, so maybe I am!

Hope the antibiotics make a difference soon Little

Still no walking here from Iz, though I'm sure it'll be any day now - delayed by the week of being ill/weak I think. Though, Too, Iz does the same - stands without holding onto anything, you ask her to make a step towards you.. and she drops to her knees. Obviously thinks its safer than attempting to walk... she's just not brave enough to try yet Wink. All in good time.... DH goes away in just over a fortnight, and is away for a fortnight... so desperately hoping her first steps will be before then and he won't miss out!

So glad to hear your Dad's doing ok Stacks, though sorry to hear about the standard of care he's received :( How long will he be in hospital for..?

GreenOlives · 03/04/2013 15:35

Today is officially shite!! Appalling night was had by all, DS1 with sky high temps again and DS2 choking on snot everytime he was laid on his back or tried to feed!! Ended up settling him on his side but then couldn't sleep myself because I was terrified he would roll onto his face and suffocate!
So today I have a grumpy, fed up of being stuck in the house big boy and a hysterically crying little boy who is desperately fighting sleep Sad I've joined in with the tears too - definitely at breaking point today! Sad Its days like this that make me wish we were ff so that at least the feeding could be shared with DH but I know its just tiredness making me think that, I actually hated all the faffing with sterilising and making up bottles after I weaned DS1 to go back to work. DH is home now after his early shift so im going to feed T then go to bed for a nap - hoping things will look better after that!

scarletfingernail · 03/04/2013 16:23

I'm sure you'll feel better after a nap Olives. At least DH can take over with DS1 now. Is DS1 feeling better now? Brooking for a better day for you and your boys tomorrow.

How's it's going Dream? Sympathies to you having to deal with D&V again Sad

I hope you're feeling better now Little?

How's your DS doing now Bartlet? And your Dad Stacks?

DS has fully recovered from his chicken pox. DD is still showing no sign, however I'm fully expecting her to come down with it by the end of this week as we have a weekend and week ahead with lots of lovely plans to go out and about with various friends and relatives etc.

DD has her first tooth at last at just over 11 months old. No walking here yet, but plenty of pulling up to standing and sometimes she looks about to stand without even holding on to anything.

Contraception here is no sex. Broken fanjo and knackereditus has worked well so far.

JenFreggle · 03/04/2013 16:46

Olives I'm brooking no argument that you will feel better after a nap.

Well DD used her walker for the first time last night, we were very impressed with the 2 steps she managed. This afternoon she had another go and went the whole length of the front room, through the kitchen and out the back Shock I turned her around and she went all the way back again. The only help I gave her was turning round corners

GreenOlives · 03/04/2013 20:58

Whilst I was napping DH took both the boys out and came home with Domino's which was followed by Easter egg for pudding - I bloody love that man! Grin may never be slim again though
Thanks for the brooking Jen and scarlet Smile
Hope all the other poorly brookers/brookers relatives/dcs are all doing better. Glad to hear DS is recovered from the pox scarlet, really hope DD doesn't get it so you can go ahead with all your nice plans. Your knackereditis and broken fanjo contraception did make me Smile The way I feel at the mo I may be using that method too! Wink

GreenOlives · 03/04/2013 21:04

Meant to say yay for DD's first tooth scarlet Smile Can't believe she's 11months! Shock
And great news about your DD showing off her skills with the walker Jen Smile

TheLittleFriend · 04/04/2013 08:30

Did you have a better night Green? And don't worry about the Easter egg. It's 8.20am and I've just eaten half of one Blush

J cried for 5 hours yesterday pm, with barely a pause for breath. More than any day since he was born! He did then have his longest stretch between feeds (5 hrs) when he eventually crashed out. I think I'd rather have less crying though!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/04/2013 11:20

M just pooed on the floor and ate some. Ewww! Just thought I'd share the delight. Yucky baby! She was nappy-free because she has a really bad raw nappy rash and she had only just pooed in her nappy so I thought she would be safe for a bit! More fool me.

GreenOlives · 04/04/2013 16:11

Hello all.
little Last night was slightly better after T finally gave up fighting sleep at 11.30pm Shock Sounds like him and J would have both done well in a crying baby competition yesterday! Hope Js not giving a repeat performance today?!
Euww to eating poo too! That's really not pleasant! DS1 has a habit of not wiping his bum properly after a poo which results in an itchy bum which he'll then scratch and come to me asking me to smell his pooey fingers!! Hmm They're a joy aren't they! Grin
Doctor phoned today to say DS1's throat swab was positive for Strep A so he now has 10 days of penicillin - fingers crossed that's him sorted, now just need to pray that T doesn't get that, his cold is bad enough Confused

scarletfingernail · 04/04/2013 17:25

A very quick post from me to say Happy 1st Birthday to the Dream boys! I hope all DC are fighting fit again and have enjoyed the day.

Oh and urgh to poo eating. Envy

DinoSnores · 04/04/2013 20:38

Wow, Dream's DTs are a year old! Where has time gone?! Happy birthday, boys!

green, hope DS1 gets well soon.

DS is doing fine now, thanks Scarlet. Just being a naughty toddler! [need a tired smiley here!]

Still debating contraception here. It needs to prevent conception rather than implantation, so we are limited. DH would gladly have a football team, but I'm not sure I can quite cope with pregnancy now or possibly ever again. To be honest, it all makes me rather sad. I really wanted a big family, but the vomiting makes it hard and any future pregnancy is going to be very medicalised and stressful after DD1 so perhaps I should just be grateful for the two babies I did get to take home.

little, are you feeling better now after the antibiotics?

TheLittleFriend · 05/04/2013 06:16

Feeling a lot better thanks Dino (struggling to get used to you as a Dino Wink)

Dream I hope the boys enjoyed their birthday, despite illness?

Stacks, how is your dad now?

It was gone 9 before J settled from his screamathon last night. That's two days in a row now. Any tips to stop a baby getting so overtired??

Off for our post natal checks this morning.

GreenOlives · 05/04/2013 08:43

Can't believe your boys are 1 already dream Hope you all had a lovely day Smile
Dino decisions, decisions. Plenty of time for deciding about family size in the future. I totally understand about feeling grateful for the 2 healthy children you've got - that's exactly how I feel. We are definitely going to stick at 2 after having a long chat about it last night.
Little We bathed T last night and it gave some temp relief from the over tired screaming! He went quiet while the water was running and stayed calm throughout and whilst getting dry. He did then ramp up for a bit more screaming but was completely settled and asleep by 8 which was a distinct improvement on 11.30 from the night before!! I wish I knew why they fight sleep so much! T will only really have a decent sleep when out in the car seat or buggy (or on me!). He occasionally drops off in his bouncy chair but only for 10 mins and if he falls asleep on me during the day he ALWAYS wakes up when I put him in his Moses basket! Im sure DS1 was a lot older before he started fighting sleep! T gets really cross when he knows he's dropping off - he was really screaming at my boob last night as he knew he was losing the battle! We've only been bathing him twice a week or so but may start doing it daily if it continues to calm him down. Let me know if you find anything that works for J. Hope 6 week check is all good.

GreenOlives · 05/04/2013 09:03

dino also wanted to say please don't feel sad if you decide not to expand your family. Your pregnancies have all been tough physically before you even take into account the emotional impact of DD1 and the influence that has on future pregnancies. Its a lot of physical and emotional stress to put yourself through so don't feel bad if you decide its not for you. Not sure I've worded that quite right but I hope you get the gist! Smile

GenericDietCola · 05/04/2013 20:16

Sorry, been crap at posting lately. It's a bit hectic here still with DH away a few nights a week visiting his parents and DD is on Easter hols from playgroup so between her and DS I don't seem to have much time

Ok I'll try to remember what I read while I've been lurking!

Happy birthday to the dream boys! Hope you all had a wonderful day and that the illnesses are on the way out. I was shocked about your twin mum buddy infecting your lot with D&V, that's not on. I am truly brooking my ass off that sleep is not far away for you all!

Olives, re contraception, I am back on the mini pill. Think it's Cerazette. I wanted to avoid having periods really, but as far as its contraceptive properties, I am yet to take advantage! It seems a bit wrong while DS is still sleeping in our room and we are so knackered, I just haven't got round to it. Longer term, DH is planning on having a vasectomy as we're definitely done with babies. A bit sad about this, but I always wanted two kids and am so grateful we got there after the miscarriages and longish time getting DS I am very happy to stop TTC. How's your DS2 now re the snottiness? My DS is exactly the same. At first I though it was a cold, but now I'm wondering if its just the way he is. He wakes frequently, snorting and struggling to breathe. The saline drops help a bit and he settles back down easily enough, but it's not nice for either of us really.

Stacks, I'm glad your dad is doing ok and I hope you sort out the nap time challenges with DS soon.

Little, how are you now? Hope the mastitis has buggered off. Hope DS's sleep gets better. It's so hard when they cry a lot and there's not much you can do. The sleep refusing is a mystery. DS did a bit of this tonight, crying in a really sad way, when I kep trying to feed him, knowing that would get him to sleep. He gave up and dozed off in the end though!

Musical, so exciting re DD nearly walking! She will be a proper toddler before you know it!

Scarlet, I am brooking that DD escapes the pox. Glad to hear DS is better.

Dino, you don't need to make any quick decisions re having more DC, but if you decided not to that would be totally understandable given your hyperemesis and sad loss of DD1.

My news, well DS is now going to bed earlyish, 730 tonight after a few nights around 8pm. A bit sad my evening cuddles are over, but it's nice to have a couple of hours to myself in the evenings. Ooh, can hear him on monitor, so may be going soon. His days of sleeping 5 or 6 hours in a row seem to be over! I now wake him about 1030 or 11pm for a feed, then he tends to wake every 2-3 hours for more milk. DD is also playing up at the moment, getting up in the night and then refusing to go back to her bed. We have tried everything, but threats of no treats, eg days out, friends to play and chocolate seem most effective. We are very tired! Oh well, sure it will pass soon. I am trying to lose some weight and so pleased today to have fitted into some pre-preg jeans. I'm quite enjoying this calorie counting lark! Oh and are any of the other recent post-natallers suffering shocking hairloss? I remember the same from DD but it is quite startling when I wash my hair these days. Still got loads left though, so not too worried about baldness just yet! Think I will treat myself to a haircut soonish.

Hope all the babies and mummies are well, especially the lurkers and anyone I've missed (sorry). Best go and settle DS again...

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 05/04/2013 22:07

Hello all,

I'm a rubbish brooker just now, too tired to post, though I am reading, Yes, my boys were one yesterday, thanks for all the well wishes. They're fab, but poor S was sick 7 times on his birthday- I'm not sure if its a bug or just his 'normal' vomiting, which clearly becomes more abnormal as the months go on and it doesn't improve- and neither does his sleep. (4 vomiting episodes to get him to bed tonight, I am totally fed up)

Good to hear your evenings are back generic

olives, my boys adore the bath, B in paarticular so its every night here, despite B's mild exzema as he enjoys it so much- only thing that stopped him screaming in the early days.

wow musical, first steps are so exciting!! Hope your dh is around for them.

got to go, he's awake, again...
