Am looking around my living room and it is a shit hole. God I hate housework, its never-ending isn't it?

I has started to settle in the early evening so I am going to try and settle him in his cot tonight - wish me luck! If it works it means I will have a couple of hours in the evening to myself - no one attached to my nipple, yay. Hopefully then he'll get used to his cot and will sleep for longer stretches in the night - well, that's the plan.

We're off to choose tiles for the ensuite and cloakroom in a minute. I can tell you now how it will go.
Ds2 will run up and down the aisles like a loony.
Neither of us will be able to concentrate enough to make a choice because we will be checking that ds2 hasn't made a break for the door.
Dh and I will get snippy at each other because we can't seem to be able to manage a seemingly simple task because ds2 is behaving like he should have an asbo!
Baby I will be totally oblivious of everything while snoozing in the sling.

Remind me why we are putting ourselves through this?!

One word ILTMIMI - Aquapanels or should that be 2 words? Ok not much use for the cloakroom, but ..... They are much easier to clean, you don't get discoloured groat etc. Or you just trust DH to choose and you stay home? Or visa versa?

Anyhoo, we've had some sucess on the boob! A whole 5 minutes. started with the bottle, then a bit of boob, he bobbed off and screamed so gave him the rest of the bottle. Still it was something I guess. Baby steps needed I think!

ILTMIMI sounds very much like any trip to the shops/diy store we go on. We once lost dd in B&Q and found her after a frantic search for 5 mins. She was admiring the bathroom displays and fortunately we found her before she had left a little present in one of the display toilets!

Arch glad to hear from you, hope you have a nice peaceful weekend. Redundancy is horrible. DH got made redundant a few years ago, and was out of work for 12 months. It was pretty awful for him (and me as he was at home all the time) and I think he got pretty depressed but he got an interview for a job through a recruitment agency (which meant us relocating from North West to West Midlands where we are both originally from) he decided to go for the interview and got the job. 12+ months later we have bought a house and are near to both sets of Grandparents. It definitely worked out well for us in the end. So hoping it works out for your DH too.

Hmmm R slept from 11.30pm - 06.30am this morning . . . . . sadly not at my house, it was at my mums who was babysitting!!! Naively hoping for an action replay tonight!

Sorry to hear those of you who have been having a hard time. Not able to really keep up much as laptop still not working but I am keeping track of you all on my phone.

Lis F is already in his cot in his room, since he grew out of his crib 2 weeks ago. We've all slept much better.

Aussie so jealous of your baby-laughs, we've got big smiles, 'talking', reaching and nearly grasping!

Chilli F hates tummy time, but like Moley, he spends a lot of time on me or in the sling, so his head control is getting better. No crawling tho.

Kit sorry you're having such a rotten time, hope you're feeling better now.

Daisylulu overtiredness does indeed seem to be our biggest issue here. We're still trying to get the daytime naps sorted. Your hospital trip sounds scary, glad things worked out ok.

Arch nice to see you again but sorry to hear you had such a fright. It sounds awful. Hope Rose gets better swiftly.

We've survived the 2nd wedding in a row. F has been coo'd over and cuddled by millions of well-meaning baby-stealers! Trying to settle him now, and back to normal routine tomorrow. I need sleep now!

Arch that sounds horrific - sorry it has been so tough. It puts my moans into perspective.

Thanks for all the mastitis advice ladies - very helpful. I've since developed thrush in my nipples as a result of the baby having thrush from all the antibiotics I've been chomping to kill the variant infections I'm brewing, so it has been a torrid few days. At one point it felt as if my right boob was going to fall off!! However, as we're a 'glass half full production' I've decided that as I've had thrush once already the second time doesn't count. It's sadly unlikely though that I'm going to be able to refrain from chucking my breastpump at the head of the next person who breezily mentions how natural breastfeeding is (note to manically cheerful Health Visitor).

Baby boy has his injections on Monday. I know I'm going to be a limp rag!

Oh yes, re: how long for tummy time I'm pathetic at doing it - I usually put him on his tummy after the bath for a few minutes so I can massage his back. I can't say it goes down particularly well. How long should we be doing it for?

It was my sister's hen do on Saturday, I had pizza with my two sisters and a friend while they got ready (DP baby-sat armed with two bottles of milk) but I was right in thinking I couldn't stay out as I had engorged football boobs after about three hours. I got a cab home as they got a cab into London. Looks like they had fun though

What a terrible time so many of you seem to be having, I hope your babies are doing ok now daisy and arch x

It's my 1st wedding anniversary today.we went back to the place we got married for lynch and took sam with us. I was really nervous but he was good as gold, practically slept through the whole thing.

S gets really hot in the night. Am I ok just putting him in a short sleeved vest? He wakes up sweating even in that!

kittycatcat - that's all I put G in last night, a short sleeved vest and then a blanket to keep his legs warm, he seems to get very hot very quickly and I think it's better he's a bit on the cold side than too hot.

Thanks everyone. J, touch wood, hasn't been sick since she started on meds. She still seems in a bit of pain but the antacid med takes 3-6 days to kick in so fingers crossed they work. So things are looking in right direction, just need to hope it continues.

Randomly J has done 3 poos today so maybe it was the hot weather.

arch hope your baby is ok. It really is the most awful thing in the world seeing your baby in pain.

I second the tummy time question, how long? H doesn't mind it for a few minutes and makes all the semblance of attempts to crawl. But I don't really know how long to leave him on his front so I just wait until he makes bored noises.

Kitty F's room gets really warm, monitor said 25-6C yesterday. He slept in just a nappy with a sheet over him. It's 23C now and he's in a short romper.

Tried some more tummy time today. We're lucky to get a full minute without screaming! Any suggestions? Just persistance I presume.

kitty S has spent most of the last few days in just a t-shirt and nappy, including at night. Last night it was horribly hot and sitcky so instead of blanket I covered him with a large muslin.

Kits, Petal I tend to follow S's lead with tummy time. Sometimes he starts crying straight away and obviously isn't in the mood. Other times he does a good 5-10min stretch before he starts sucking the mat and looking bored!

Daisy its good to hear things are settling for J, fingers crossed the rest of the meds kick in soon.

We just had T in a short vest last night and he was fine. I think I might put him back in a babygro tonight though, it feels cooler.

We never really bothered with tummy time specifically with DS1, and we aren't with DS2. Sometimes he is on his tummy, and he spends a lot of time on one of us in the evenings lifting his head and legs at once and looking around. He tried to sit himself up when he was in his bouncy chair the other day so I think his back is doing just fine!

Tummy time - all of mine have bloody hated it until they were able to roll onto their stomachs and do it all themselves. I don't think there is a recommended amount of time, I would say leave them there until they are unhappy, and don't sweat it if you don't do it all!

We didn't go to the tile shop after all, after reading my post back I thought 'why are we doing this?', so dh and I will go with I when ds is at pre school.

I had a complete hormonal moment this morning, we went to a small holding in the village and saw that the welsh cob had had it's foal yesterday. The mother came over to see us so the foal followed along, it was a really beautiful moment seeing this one day old foal running alongside it's mum trying to keep up. So beautiful I cried!!! Get a grip woman!

We then saw that the goslings had hatched and were walking around with their parents. They were all fluffy and yellow.

We then picked up our freshly laid eggs and went home for egg and bacon. I bloody love living in our village and realise how lucky we are.

Looks like the pessary hasn't cleared up my thrush, soback to the docs for me tomorrow. Bloody sick fed up of the place right now!

In better news, BFing is go! Still only in short doses but he's getting more into it.

I've started driving again too. It's only been 5 weeks, but I feel fine and been doing things around the house that a way more strenuous than driving. I have my freedom back!

well i'm improving - only 4 days have elapsed since I last found time to post! getting easier now DS is sleeping for longer in the mornings.

Arch and Daisy so sorry to hear what you and your babies have been through in recent days, I can't imagine how upsetting it must be. Really glad that they are both recovering now.

To all of you worried about what your baby should wear in the hot weather, I live outside of UK and its been 28-30C ever since DS was born, I was so paranoid to start that he was going to overheat but he's always been fine in a babygro or short sleeved vest and covered with a thin cotton sheet. He's actually happiest without clothes at all but decided that might not set good habits for future years .

arch so sorry to hear about the rubbish time you've been having, fingers crossed for you DH's work.

I figure T will discover tummy time on his own soon enough, he hates having it enforced but yesterday he was trying to roll over only got onto his side but I guess he'll get all the way over at some point and maybe he'll be happier if he puts himself there, hopefully anyway. I only try and put him on his tummy when he is happy because at least it means he starts out well but I hate the screaming baby it produces....I'd rather have him happy. I figure head control can be encouraged in other ways.

Have had family visiting. Will update/debrief/brain dump soon....
