Lis it is your DUTY to go to Take That on behalf of all of us. Perhaps we can all have a vicarious Take That evening

Had fatty pants baby weighed at his six week check today. He is 91st centile so clearly all the cake I've been stuffing for the past month and a half is doing some good. The doctor was politely astonished.

LisMcA · 31/05/2011 21:06

Sold it to DH as an early 30th birthday present. I'm secretly hoping he will still get me diamonds something nice too! Hmm, Kits you've got me worried about expressing while away. Can just see me lighter in head swaying back and forth with my Medela Swing jutting out a'la Madonna pointy bra!! :o

Sassy20 · 31/05/2011 22:51

Lis my boobs did suffer as a result of not feeding for the time I was away. They were rock hard by time I got home but L had just had bottle of expressed so there I was pumping away singing take that songs!!! It's the best result I've had from pumping though.

Cyclebump · 01/06/2011 08:13

I always wind, it's farting that's the issue at 4am Grin

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/06/2011 10:22

I've had chuffing mastitis in my left boob, but no fever or sore boob today - hurrah.

ds2 has got some new chicken pox spots appear - 5 days after the initial ones, so our quarantine time has increased - aaarrrrggghhhhhh.

I does settle between 8-9pm but has been awake for a few hours after the 1am feed - not impressed.

stuffedmk · 01/06/2011 11:11

I haven't been on here for what seems like ages, will have to have a good read through but for now I just want to celebrate.....T had his last bottle at 10.30 last night and didn't wake up until 5.30 for the next one Grin hurrah!!! OK 5.30 is still the middle of the night for me lol but I felt a lot less bleary eyed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/06/2011 11:29

Sod off stuffed Grin Wink

I also keep meaning to say, I wonder where archie is? I don't think she's been on here since she posted about the birth. Where are you archie?? Hope all is ok

stuffedmk · 01/06/2011 12:05

Well I could have really rubbed it in and told you that he then went back to sleep half an hour later until 8.30 Wink Grin god bless half term and not having to get DS1 up.

stuffedmk · 01/06/2011 12:12

All this talk of mastitis and thrush is making me feel much less upset at failing to bf or at least thats what I tell myself Wink mastitis is evil and I feel for all those afflicted.

DS is 10 on fathers day so I am not only not on top of fathers day but I have to figure out what the hell to get Josh....and worse what to tell all those people that keep asking me what he wants.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/06/2011 20:45

tis quiet here today.

I am here on my own while dh has a meeting with his accountant. ds2 has just woken up for no apparant reason and I is bobbing on and off the boob whilst getting very frustrated and being over tired.
Luckily ds2 settled quickly after a few verses of 'I had a little nut tree', alas I is still getting himself into a fury - for my sanity I hope he drops off soon ........

Liv77 · 01/06/2011 21:11

P is also currently bobbing on and off ILTMI. I spent last night searching amazon for father's day presents for DH. thought i'd finished then remembered i also need to get presents for the GP's aaahhh

daisylulu · 02/06/2011 02:22

Urgh up at 1.50 for feed despite J last feeding at 11.50. Can normally go 5 hours or so between feeds at night so not sure what has caused this. J did sleep nearly ALL day today much to my amazement and didn't eat so much so maybe that's why....

mumtomoley · 02/06/2011 08:58

Good news here... G slept between 1.30 and 8.30!! It was being cuddled by me on the sofa so not ideal in that respect but seven hours is bliss!! just need to get him in his crib now..

AussieMum2Be · 02/06/2011 09:12

It's been a while since i posted but have been reading all your updates, sorry for everyone having breastfeeding and sleeping problems, hope it all starts to get better. Things still going well here, I've felt so guilty when i read the posts as I guess I've been very lucky to have a really easy baby, makes me feel very appreciative.

Well your posts reminded me of Fathers Day which I would have totally forgotten as the Aussie one is on a different day ! I ordered my favourite daddy and baby pic and got it printed onto Canvas, it's a gorgeous pic of them asleep together, although i did consider nothing as he insisted on not celebrating the Aussie Mothers Day which my mum was here for so I celebrated anyway but card and flowers would have been nice !!! (didn't make uk one !)

On better news we are getting baby laughs now, DP missed the first one but saw the repeat the next day, they are the cutest ever,
Can't wait for the next milestone !!

LisMcA · 02/06/2011 10:04

Morning ladies, matchsticks are propping up my eyelids this morning. B didn't go to sleep until 1, I had to pump at 2, then he was up for a feed at 4.30 and then again at 6.30, pumped at 7ish and then he was backup and wide awake 8.30. He is now happily lying on his playmat, gurgling away. Can't carry on with the pumping for much longer. Send us good vibes tomorrow when we go to see about his TT.

I've ordered one of those castign kits for Fathers day, but I'm now beginning to wonder if it can be a one person job. Anyone done one before?? Or do i present DH with the box and he can do it?

Also, he seems to be growing out of his moses basket. I'm thinking of moving him to the nursery to sleep in his cot. But I keep coming across the "they must sleep in the same room as you until they are 6 months". There is no way we could fit the cot in our room and no room for a bed in the nursery. Does anyone have their DC in their own room already?

dappleton · 02/06/2011 10:45

I've not had chance to post on here for ages, can't type with my left hand and right hand is permanently occupied with baby/house chores! Smile

Have had a bit of a read through again today and it's really amazing how all our April babies are developing, i'm so impressed some are going 5 hours or more between feeds.

LisMcA can't be of help, we're far from ready to have DC in his own room, i'm still trying to figure out how to put him in his cot to sleep - he was fine for 2weeks then has been co-sleeping for past 5weeks and screams if he's anywhere else.

Aussie how old is your baby now? it's wonderful that he's laughing already, we're only at smiles at the moment but perhaps have a few more weeks to wait? - so exciting to see all the changes that happen each day.

chillikat · 02/06/2011 11:01

Morning all,
Like Aussie I've been reading but keeping quiet with a relatively easy baby. However yesterday was a bit of a grim one as she got really overtired and would only drop off in my arms waking as soon as she hit the mattress of the crib or pram. It then took us ages to get her settled last night, but then she slept midnight to 5 and then, after a feed and change, til 8 :)

We're off to our first baby massage today - it is the babies who get taught how to massage the parents isn't it? :o
We're also getting smiles and big grins - it's lovely. How are others doing wiht tummy time? M can lift her head when she decides to do so and she's got the leg movement for crawling, thankfully not the purchase on the floor or strength in her arms or I fear she'd be off and about already Shock

Daisy17 · 02/06/2011 11:35

Blimey, all you 5 hour ladies, how do you do it?! S is still firmly in the 3 hour camp, even through the night, though thankfully he sleeps well in his own bedside cot in the gaps. He has also taken to having much longer awake periods which are lovely but nearly always end in overtired howling and if he is hungry as well he can't even calm down enough to eat so he gets even more beside himself..... Gosh but it's hard work, isn't it?! I knew it was going to be but not that most of the effort was involved in trying to get them to SLEEEEEEP..... so tired.... but yes, those gorgeous little smiles really do help, don't they? Grin

mumtomoley · 02/06/2011 11:42

It's nice to hear about easy babies too! :) Glad to hear it's going well for you aussie and chilli

Have fun at baby massage, I've signed up for a course too.

We haven't done much tummy time, but G mainly sleeps on his front on me and holds his head up quite well, and his back seems quite strong

Will definitely do some proper tummy time today though!

JustKeepSwimming · 02/06/2011 11:49

Well we moved M into her room yesterday at 6weeks.
She did brilliantly, fed her a few times between 7 & 9 in her room in the dark. Then again at 12 & 2. She woke at 5 and I brought her into bed with me as she seemed a bit cold and she snuggled up until 7. So not major gaps between feed but I know I slept better without her there to worry about. Or her snuffling waking me up.
(have the monitor on don't worry not that mean!)

I did the casting thing with both boys on my own, though i found it helped to have them in the swing so their foot was sort of dangling down. Think i did both about 10/12 weeks, so must order another kit soon.

Stinking cold here, snuffle sniffle, yuk.

DairyBeetle · 02/06/2011 12:06

S had his first injections yesterday which resulted in him screaming like I have never head before all afternoon. All we could do was cuddle lots until he had a nap then he'd yell again as soon as he woke up Sad but on the plus side he slept from 10.30pm right the way till 5am! I woke up in shock (and full boob agony!) but was happily greeted by my grinning boy.

He's also just having his first nap in his cot in the nursery, I'm aiming for sleeping there during the day to get him used to it because like some of you have mentioned he's not got much longer left in the moses basket which means I'm facing the same decision as Lis as to when to move him into his room overnight.

Chilli I know what you mean about those legs going during tummy time. S keeps managing to push himself off the mat with his toes and knees! The doctor mentioned he was very strong had had fantastic head control (ie looks around being nosey) and upper back strength for an 8 week old. I'm hoping that having laminate flooring will slow him down a bit when he starts crawling. Is that a bit mean?!

Chilli & moley you'll have to let us know how the baby massage goes. I really want to give it a go and am on the look out for a class near by.

kitstwins · 02/06/2011 13:23

Christ, I think I've got mastitis in my right boob! ANy thoughts or tips ladies? It's really sore (as if I've been punched repeatedly) and is achy and lumpy on the underside and up to the right of it. This is in spite of feeding from that side and expressing anything left over (I only got around 5 mls so it looked as if the baby had cleared pretty much everything off. Either that or my ducts are blocked?). Can't understand how I can get mastitis when I've been on antibiotics for the past 10 days (for my wound infection). Could I still get it?

Oh, and any thoughts what to do whilst I wait for my doctor's surgery to open this afternoon? I've expressed and am currently using alternate hot and cold gel compresses in my bra and I've massaged it the shower. It's still really achy and painful.

God I'm so pssed off. I've had nipple thrush, nerve damage in my stomach, a wound infection and now this. Just want to go out into the road and roar FCK OFF at the top of my voice. It just feels like a really bad joke.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 02/06/2011 14:41

kits you poor thing. I know exactly where you are, it is like a re-run of my first 2 months with DS1.

With the boob, did you comb the breast while you fed? It is a bugger to do while you're expressing, you need about 4 hands. Especially when the blocked bit is underneath, it is really tricky. Can you sort of dangle your boob into the baby's mouth at next feed?
It does sound like a blocked duct. It could be worth taking some ibuprofen or similar because that will help reduce the inflammation in the area and help release the blockage.

What an utter bugger for you, I really feel for you. :( I think your body just reaches a point where it is overwhelmed. I know resting is a joke when you've got other DCs to look after, but can you get any help and go to bed for a few hours?

LisMcA · 02/06/2011 14:59

I second Ali on the combing and ibuprofen. I don't have fancy gel pads to get heat into your boob, but a nappy with hot water poured on it worked well for me. Try not to massage it too much as that made mine worse.

I'll be back, B is yelling again!

daisylulu · 02/06/2011 16:06

kits that sounds awful I'm so sorry i have no advice but wanted to send some cyber sympathy, not that helps much.

daisy i share the pain with overtired baby - J is extremely overtired today and she won't sleep. What a contrast from yesterday where she slept all day! Why can't there be a happy medium?! Is it just me' or does overtiredness seem to be one if the biggest factors to screaming baby! How do you settle them when they go off on one....if anyone works it out please share!
