The old one was taking too long to load! Smile

Abdn did they get the swine flu jab last year? 'cos that should protect them against H1N1 this year too; I checked it out yesterday, the reason the seasonal flu jab has to be done annually is that the strains change each year but swine flu is still the same strain so the immunity is still valid.

DewinDoeth · 04/01/2011 09:47

Missed the swine flu comment - no, not having Iestyn done, but desperately trying to get me done, due to all the hype (actually it's not pointless hype, it's just scary). However, I made an appointment, went along, and the nurse refused to give it to me because I wasn't quite 12 weeks at the time.
There's no limit on when you can have it in pg apparently so I'm annoyed, especially as I've come to London where people sneeze on buses and the tube!

Amber don't worry, over in a few days! I've been meaning to text but haven't managed it yet - I've failed to meet up with you so far and I'm off back to Anglesey tomorrow (I have a scan today but don't know when as yet - long story!). Hope to be back end of Jan though, or early feb.

Hilary's funeral is the 13th Jan so DH and I will be here overnight then, but not with Iestyn.

DewinDoeth · 04/01/2011 09:51

My other news - put on a pair of elastic trousers today! Smile I'm not that massive at 13 weeks (and in fact it may be mainly flab Blush) but I wanted the comfort, and the admission that I'm actually pg! I bought them in H&M.
For Penguin - H&M Wimbledon now does maternity; also Red Herring in Debenhams and Gap. (You knew about the last two, but H&M is very recent!)
Everyone else - we used to meet up in Wimbledon and bemoaned the fact that gap started stocking maternity after we had our babies!

Cheeky question - anyone size 10 and got some decent mat wear floating around?

abdnhiker · 04/01/2011 09:58

They did get the vaccine last year but I'd heard that it might only give partial immunity, that seemed to be what the dr was saying on the webchat last month. It'd be nice to hear a straight answer, I wish I'd heard of the webchat and asked then.

Dewin - arghhh! I just charity shopped my mat wear a few months ago. I was holding on to it until we decided not to have another.

Rolf · 04/01/2011 11:08

Dewin's maternity wear question: hahahahahah (bitter laugh at being size 10 or having any maternity wear!)

Amber almost over...

neenz · 04/01/2011 13:55

Dewin I might have a few things I can send to you (or perhaps we could actually meet up this time!), I haven't kept much and some of the trousers are long but some might be useful. I have your nappies too if you want them back?

I am glad to get back into the old routine today altho I have loved having DH home to help with the kids (and also cos I quite like him too Smile). But we have been having late nights, drinking too much, letting Daniel get all out of routine. He was up three times last night so he is back on Gina Ford today Smile.

Esther is going through a very strange phase of chewing on stuff (books, coasters, toy car tyres) - she chomped through 3 books last night after we put her to bed, Could it be teething or just something she likes doing> She knows she shouldn't do it cos DH found her last night and she threw the book on the floor and shouted cuddle cuddle and kept turning his face away from the books.

Theo was cute this morning: he called the radiator in the bathroom the "fire-ator" - "don't touch, it's hot the fire-ator" Grin

systemsaddict · 04/01/2011 14:37

Right, as part of my New Year makeover I need to try and sort Caitlin's sleep out; I've posted about this before I think but basically I spend every evening sat next to her till 10pm and it's driving me mad! Have started a thread about it here and if anyone has any pearls of wisdom I'd be very glad of them! Smile

SpiderWilliam · 04/01/2011 19:21

I just searched the archives for something to do with sleep and the original June 08 ante natal thread came up. On the first page Going and Systems announce their BFPs!

Bit of a heavy going day here. Monsterous behaviour from a toddler who wishes it could be Christmas every day...

Will try to come back later.

Dewin my mat stuff is all 14-16. Neenz has to be your best bet.

sybilvimes · 04/01/2011 20:03

v quick post as this has fallen off my list. Kids back to school tomorrow so very hectic here this evening!

ktmincepie · 05/01/2011 09:15

Quick post before I get dragged away. Not caught up so apologies. Had a great Christmas but not really back into the swing of things. Having sleep issues with H so shattered today, really need to go to the supermarket but I think I may be a danger on the roads!

systemsaddict · 05/01/2011 09:34

That brings back memories Spider! I found a diary entry from that week a while back which said 'I'm pregnant again, I'm so happy, it's a girl and she's called Caitlin' !!! didn't even remember writing it!

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 05/01/2011 11:32

Quick post to update my scrabbling in the loft situation. Phoned the council pest control today and they do a free survey to identify what the problem is and can then offer services/treatment to deal with it. Am quite pleased as I wasn't really sure what to do.

However, she did say if the noise is predominantly at night it's most likely to be rats or mice and not birds, which is giving me the heebie jeebies!

I don't know anything about such things and don't want to google and find images that will enhance my heebie jeebies (I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to such things) - how would mice/rats get in our loft? Are we likely to have them in the house (there have been no signs).

We've got loads of boxes of papers in the loft too - can't bear the thought of sorting through them and finding any creatures - dead or alive!!!

Sad.

Sorry, very self indulgent, but needed to share and I'm in the office on my own today and DH is tied up in meetings!

systemsaddict · 05/01/2011 12:41

Don't panic KeepCalm! I grew up in the countryside and we often had rats or mice in the loft, which impacted very little on our lives beyond finding the odd keepsake a bit chewed. I think they just climbed up the walls and went in under the eaves ... They can easily be in the loft and not in the rest of the house. If that is what it is, the council or pest control people will be able to sort it out with poison and/or traps - not pleasant, granted, but it is fairly routine. You will have to try and work out where they are getting in and stop it up if poss. May only be one or two.

SpiderWilliam · 05/01/2011 19:22

Systems that's lovely. I didn't even find the thread until about the April, but it was still nice to have a peek.

Keep calm Keep Calm - sorry couldn't resist. I have nothing helpful to add though.

Neenz LOL at putting D back on CLB routines. I have to admit that I have got Gina off the shelf yesterday for the first time. W seems to get very awake in the evening and sometimes up until midnight even 1am. Not ideal when P likes to get up at 5am-6am. W is so chilled in the day. I was checking out what Gina says about amount of daytime sleep. She confirmed my thoughts - that he is sleeping more than she recommends over 5 hours yesterday. I can't believe that after P's complete sleep avoidance as a baby W is the other way round. I'm not moaning, I just have no experience of sleepy babies. Confused

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 05/01/2011 20:12

Grin Spider.

That's reassuring Spider thanks. I am moving into the spare room though. The noise is quite literally contained in the space above our bed which is very disconcerting at 3am.

KnittingRocks · 05/01/2011 20:30

Hi everyone, quick post cos I'm still feeling like crap Blush but have been trying to read Smile.

Rolf, I loved the dragon/god story Smile - won't say anymore than that for fear of offending anyone Wink.

KeepCalm, hideous about the mice, you poor thing. We had them in our house once when we were kids and they were disposed of pretty quickly with traps. Now we have cats we have never had a problem but that's quite a drastic solution!

Amber, good luck for Friday and Penguin, good luck for Monday!

Deb, yay at you being home. We might try and drop by to say hello on our way to Scotland Grin.

Oh, and can we change the thread title? It's annoying me now it's Jan 5th and it's surely unlucky to still be mentioning Christmas after 12th night Smile.

Any suggestions?

Hi to everyone x

KnittingRocks · 05/01/2011 20:40

Oh and keepcalm, have just posted a pic on FB that shows a slight design flaw with the GLTC easel that we've bought Wink.

On the plus side, A is already demonstrating very good pencil grip [sad teacher emoticon] Grin.

DewinDoeth · 05/01/2011 21:18

Keepcalm you were mentioned tonight - my Mum today found a hole through her floor and carpet, by the skirting just by Iestyn's high chair. That would be a mouse. They're putting down a trap tonight!
Mice are annoying but not a danger, I think, unless they're in your food cupboards, but you'd know about that. (Although they can chew through cables and that's more than annoying.)
Rats - well, unlikely to be rats in the attic really. They're nasty, but I'd be really surprised if you had rats in your house. That's just my opinion.
For your own sake I won't tell you how they get in, but they're unlikely to be in the house if there are no signs. Signs are droppings - little pellets. Or signs of disturbance in your food cupboards.
I also don't think you're at risk of finding any, or that they will start rampaging around your house at night - they're probably quite happy where they are. I don't think you'll see one, so don't worry too much/lose sleep. Smile

I'm also not some weird rodent expert either!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 05/01/2011 22:07

keepcalm squirrels. Just another suggestion - my sister had them in her loft and they made a scrabbling sound.

Thanks for everyone's concern about D - she's been much better over the last 24 hours, although still has a horrid cough. She managed to sleep better last night though and I think is definitely on the mend. The health visitor came today to do her 6 week check - she's 8lb 7oz now, which is between 9th and 25th centile, but between 91st and 98th for height. Clearly her beanpole Dad's daughter!

C's nursery reopens tomorrow Grin I feel guilty for being pleased about it, but I'm really looking forward to having an easier day tomorrow - it's been a bit tough while it's been closed over Christmas, with firstly C being ill, then D and being so bloomin' cold that we struggled to get out.

Amber good luck tomorrow, can't wait to hear the names, and see some pictures of the twins. Let us know if you see any celebs at the Portland!

Knitting let's have a rhyming thread title next time Wink dewin in particular is a fan of those...

KnittingRocks · 05/01/2011 22:15

June 2008: new year, new diets, new resolutions, but when push comes to shove chocolate is still the solution!

How about that one? Grin

I think you may lose me from MN btw, I've just discovered Genes Reunited and am already hopelessly addicted Blush.

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 05/01/2011 23:13

Should that finish with 'creme eggs are still the solution' Wink

Thanks all for comforting words re: our lofty visitors. Off to bed in the spare room tonight so will hopefully get a good night's sleep!

Has Amber been on btw / is it Fri she goes in?

KnittingRocks · 05/01/2011 23:57

Perfect keepcalm! I'm on my iPhone so too fiddly for me but please start a new thread! ; )

Amber goes in on Friday.

Amberc · 06/01/2011 02:53

I am still here worse luck awake and hideously uncomfotrtable at 2,40am! Lots of last minute things to do tomorrow (including the dreaded nether region tidy!) and then in hospital for the op at around lunchtime on Friday. I will be honest and say I am panic stricken and haven't felt excitement about the babies yet. Maybe it's because I am feeling physically so rotten?

I heard scrabbling in my loft in
my old flat once but it just stopped. No idea what it was. How about a poltergeist?!!

Amberc · 06/01/2011 02:55

Ps spider I hope my babies ae good daytime sleepers Luke was a nightmare!

going · 06/01/2011 10:21

Amber Good luck for friday!!!!

Feel like DS is never going to be out of nappies, he refuses to have his nappy taken off until he can see I have one ready to put back on Hmm
