Welcome to our new, cosy thread. Log fires, big jumpers and Christmas shopping Grin.

What do you mean it's still August?! Wink

Thanks all. 2am here and S has been really upset for the last hour Sad. Really inconsolable, the poor wee mite. DH has taken him downstairs to try and calm him.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 22/09/2010 02:09

Spider - I hope that you have a really productive week. Well, actually I hope that your DH does all the jobs on your list and that you can fixate.

Sleazy, glad you had a good time at your mini meet up.

I really should try and get some sleep while the boys are downstairs...

DebInAustria · 22/09/2010 06:44

Goddess - hope S calmed down and you all got some sleep, how are the spots today?

Ktpie - was it you that reminded me about the toilet seat I'd bought from Lidls and forgotten about? Thought I'd try it with Ethan as he doesn't think much of the potty and yesterday he did a wee and poo on it and this morning he's just got up and done another wee. I'm really pleased as the boys were 3 before they were potty trained and I don't want to discourage him but timing would be awful with moving countries!! I'm hoping that he just carries on like this but has no desire to progress yet!!

Spider, good luck with the jobs, how long have you got now I can't remember?

SpiderWilliam · 22/09/2010 07:05

DGT - what happened after 2? Poor you, DH and poor S too of course.

Deb - 33 weeks tomorrow. How was S's second bus journey.

Amberc · 22/09/2010 10:00

Big fat hairy arseholes. Had a cons appointment yesterday and got my second positive for glicosebsi they made me come in again today to do another one. Positive again. Got to do the diabetes test in 2 weeks or so but the Mw said she wouldn't be surprised if I had it. Anyone else has gd?

Amberc · 22/09/2010 10:01

Ooh that is meant to say glucose, how it came out like that I don't know!

DebInAustria · 22/09/2010 11:26

Amber , for a minute I thought you were still talking about the Brazilian! WinkSorry to hear about the chance of you having gd, I tested positive once with Ethan but the next tiome it was OK.

Spider - wow, not too long now. Stefan turned up home at the right time so I assume everything was OK!! Today he has gone walking with his class, so 2 buese into school, then walk to the train station, train, walk up a mountain, train,2 buses and home. Not too sure when he'll be back today!!

Slightly better night's sleep for me but dh was awake until 4 am worrying about the whole house sale situation.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 22/09/2010 11:41

Hi everyone. DH stayed downstairs with S for a bit last night but when he came back to bed he was sobbing again. Lots of cuddles and a dose of calpol put him right and then he slept well till this morning. Unfortunately we had to wake him up though - DH had to catch an early train and his Aunt was coming over for a couple of hours early this morning to let me go into work and pick up some stuff to do at home. He's been in great form this morning - DH's Aunt is brilliant with kids - really good at role play, making up games and stories etc. I've come home and now he's watch Toy Story Blush.

Deb, sorry to hear that your DH had a sleepless night. You'll all be glad when you're back over here safe and well. Is it Yorkshire you're coming back to? We went to the Eureka museum in Halifax the other weekend and it was fab!

Amber - sorry to hear about the gd. No experience of it here to share.

Meant to say previously - SA, Amber and others - really sorry to hear about the 100 day cough. The winter is a bugger when you've got kids isn't it? The germs just seem to go round and round.

Amberc · 22/09/2010 14:26

Domestic that pic on fb is sooooo cute!

PiggyPenguin · 22/09/2010 18:17

Thanks for the birthday message Abdn dh has been away since beginning of last week so struggling to get online as away from his 3g card (don't get me started on the farce that is BT)

Sounds interesting though Dewin and fingers crossed everything turns out ok Amber, Deb - I would be a wreck if that was my ds1, but then I accept that I am quite an anxious mother!

Good luck with all your jobs Spider, and well done for finishing your exams Biscuits

hugs to everyone I've missed!

SpiderWilliam · 22/09/2010 20:28

Sybil - cant believe you are still having internet issues. Happy belated birthday.

So, I just got back from pilates. I can report that the older Mum was indeed there. If I hadn't been told about her in advance I probably wouldn't have guessed either that she was pregnant, just putting her bump down to a matronly figure (except that it is an antenatal class so by definition she must be); and/or her age (because, being an antenatal class I would have assumed she must be in her forties max). The best way to picture her is to imagine a pregnant Mary Quant. I'm sorry, I didn't get to find out how it came about though.

Amber I had the GTT for GD a few weeks ago. It wasn't much fun fasting overnight, but it was tolerable rather than seriously unpleasant. Hope it comes back negative for you.

Amberc · 22/09/2010 21:50

Spider that's mad - I would not have been able to resist!

KnittingisbetterthanTherapy · 23/09/2010 09:04

marking my spot x

DewinDoeth · 23/09/2010 13:13

Thought I'd post in this quiet time! Smile Not that I have much to say - I'm working from home, studying for my exam. Sad I'm working loads and feel bad about Iestyn being foisted onto nursery/Mum/DH but then it's only for 3 weeks and then I'm back to slacking normal.

Hope the test goes ok Amber - I thought someone else had had this! I had some positives when I was pg, and that includes protein on a regular basis. (But still never any checks for pre-eclampsia...weird, especially given that the baby was only 6lb when he eventually appeared.)
Tell me - I've thought about what I'm going to knit for you and will phone you later Grin - are you going FT with the little twins? Or earlier c-sect? Definite c-sect? Just nosiness for no real reason. Except that you might have them on my birthday! Grin Penguin could too - or both of you!

Spider I so would have cornered the woman...did you sense anything at all? Anything said?? You need to use Deb's opening gambit - is this your first? Grin (Genius, that, btw.)

Now I'm waffling and will stop.

DebInAustria · 23/09/2010 15:29

I have a warm glow inside, it's not often that the word genius and my name are in the same sentence Smile

DebInAustria · 23/09/2010 19:00

warm glow has gone - I've killed the thread Sad

DewinDoeth · 23/09/2010 19:53

I know - where is everyone? It's ever so quiet on here!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 23/09/2010 19:56

I'm here but I need to write about 1500 words tonight to finish my bloody assignment so send me away please!

DewinDoeth · 23/09/2010 20:01

OK, DG, go away then! Smile

I'm going to do a bit more studying but I won't be back on here till after 9pm - deal?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 23/09/2010 20:10

If I was here I'd say deal! I'm not obviously Wink

DewinDoeth · 23/09/2010 20:19

Me neither...Grin

neenz · 23/09/2010 20:57

I'm here! Had a manic few days: yesterday everything that could go wrong did and today I have been trying to sort out one dispute after another (laptop, car seats, windows - I won't bore you with all the details.) Yesterday was just one of those days - even going to ASda for some rice cakes was a trauma. I was in a rush but the shop had been reorganised the night before so the staff didn't know where anything was, neither did I and neither did any of the other customers Angry. Esther decided to play in the fireplace so got covered in soot (Igglepiggle too, so he had to have a bath). She is so cute now, she sits Igglepiggle down at the small table and uses the toy kitchen plates/cups to play-act a meal.

Daniel is down to one feed in the night Smile but is still mostly in bed with me (he feeds to sleep on the bed). But I can cope with that. I had the contraceptive implant put in today - ouch!

Amber, can't believe the MW said you look like you probably have GD. It's rare IIRC and a positive glucose result is not even a good indicator. I think there are some other symptoms of GD, might be worth googling to see if you have any? My SIL was PG with twins, is very overweight and had +ve glucose tests but was negative for GD, so if the MW thinks it probable cos of twins/weight then she's jumping the gun IMO.

During nappy off time before last night's bath Theo grabbed one of the (many) potties and sat down on it and had a wee Smile. The wee went on the floor cos he hadn't put his willy in but the thought was there Grin.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 23/09/2010 21:21

300 words down...

DewinDoeth · 23/09/2010 22:25

Well, I managed to do a final bit of swotting on Article 39 EU...but still a lot to go.

Neenz must thank you for the cheque - too generous, though! Smile Hope the nappies are still doing ok! I think I have a taker for the remainder too.

Pah to potty training though. Iestyn claimed he wanted a wee yesterday and asked my Mum to take him to the toilet, which she did, at a run; but he changed direction in the corridor, went to look out of the window, and when she said 'come to the toilet' he said 'nah!' in that exact teenage way, with a shrug. Hmm Then, in 5 mins or so, he climbed onto his toy box and did an enormous wee which dripped off the lid and everything, and laughed all the while. Hmm

Anybody think he's ready? Grin

My days are so dull there's nothing to say, and nobody to respond to! Come back, everyone! Smile Where are you, Knitting? That marking-of-spot post was sinister! Grin

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 23/09/2010 22:31

marking my place too - going away this weekend for a short break - with a night of babysitting by Granny and Grandpa on Saturday and a first night away without C for DH and me (at the same time!). Total tantrum child tonight, am too worn out to write about it, but think I was getting pay back for being away on Mon and Tues (it wasn't as if I was doing anything fun Sad)
