Welcome to our new, cosy thread. Log fires, big jumpers and Christmas shopping Grin.

What do you mean it's still August?! Wink

OP posts:

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 18/09/2010 19:10

misread that as James McABugger. unusual name, I thought.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 18/09/2010 20:07

I did think it didn't quite read right when I posted it!

Rolf - thanks for the post on speech therapy, I think I'll just keep a close eye on things for now and see how he gets on. A bit of a stutter at this age is understandable I guess when they're learning so many new words all the time.

Oh, I'm sure everyone who ever wanted one for their LOs will have one, but for those of you with babies - the ELC garage is on offer at £25 this week. Bargain.

DewinDoeth · 18/09/2010 20:18

A quick post from this most fabulous hotel! It's wonderful - pricey, but IMO worth the money as Iestyn had the best day ever and I enjoyed my bookbinding course even more because he was so, so happy! (DH is having an ok day but he's now booked us into dinner with babylistening service. Smile)

I'm also happy because my old fridge freezer sold on e-bay for £113. So that's much more than I'd pay for it but I guess it is in full working order. I wasn't expecting more than £50 and the photo was pretty crappy too.

One other thing. You folks might know about this. I do think it might be wishful thinking, but I'm now getting rather suspicious of my feeling sick which is still continuing. I'm also desperately tired and need (ideally) 10 hours sleep. Plus, my boobs are really painful i.e. it hurts when the towel touches my nipples after a shower. Could I be pg? Hmm Or are these all imaginary phantom pg symptoms?

I haven't taken a test - bit early I suppose. But also because Blush I fancy a drink tonight if I don't feel too sick. Grin

Amberc · 18/09/2010 21:32

I thought you'd only just ovulated Dewin or are these potential symptoms from the previous cycle? You've been feeling sick for ages. If it was from this time it would be mighty early for symptoms but it does happen. 9 September was ovulation time roughly and today is only 18th so just 9 days later. Not sure hun. Way too early to test unless you think last month might have done it! Hope it is though!!

DewinDoeth · 18/09/2010 22:13

Hm, maybe it's a phantom pg! Grin Hadn't tried last month because of job interview and being sick!
Obv wanting to be pg is making me imagine lots of signs.

abdnhiker · 19/09/2010 09:05

dewin I felt ill, but in a crampy sort of way, with DS1 at about ten days post conception. I didn't think it was pregnancy symptoms though, thought it was a dodgy curry, we made the connection a week later when it was still continuing and we'd done a test.

I'm off to a baby fair today (which is a laugh since I'm passed the interested in baby stuff stage) to support my friend who makes the tutus. I'm bringing fraser with me though as Ds1 has a bday party so it'll be a bit of a gong show.

neenz · 19/09/2010 14:23

Dewin, if it is PG symptoms this early it can mean only one thing - twins or more Wink. I got a positive test nine days post-ov with the twins

systemsaddict · 19/09/2010 15:14

Dewin I felt sick within a week with Caitlin ....

Knitting agree with all the others, I'm sure once you've seen the gynae they'll go through all the pre-hysterectomy options with you, it's last resort. I had a bad experience with a Mirena that ended up in the wrong place this year and the GP knew NOTHING, though he specialised in such things, I almost had to tell him what to refer me to next ... gynae was fab though and got it sorted out within less than 48 hours of first seeing him. [turned out it went through my womb and got wrapped around my appendix - this is extremely rare I hasten to add!] Two people on the ward with me were getting treated for fibroids with what seemed like minimally invasive procedures.

Goddess from what little I know about child speech acquisition there is huge variability at this age, also they do do a lot of repetition as part of the normal speech learning process, so I wouldn't worry just yet.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/09/2010 15:44

Abdn, your friend isn't going to branch out into capes like this company by any chance? I've been looking for some dress up type stuff for S for a wee that isn't just a branded costume and love the idea of a more generic superhero cape. I actually came across this company first on etsy, but more expensive and would need to be sent over from the States. Love the little cuffs and masks though.

Thanks System - I'll just keep a wee eye on him. Am sure he's fine, but good to watch out for any other signs I suppose.

Good news on the fridge freezer Dewin - no idea re: early pg symptoms. I don't really remember whether I had any.

systemsaddict · 19/09/2010 17:12

systemsaddict · 19/09/2010 17:13

bugger, sorry, that's what happens when your four year old wants to know how to talk on mummy's computer, didn't mean that to post!!

SpiderWilliam · 20/09/2010 09:56

Systems - your DS posting seemed to kill the thread! I used to be Ali btw.

Just getting this back on my threads.

On the train with a v happy P going to see Knitting and H&S.

Slightly hardgoing weekend after P woke at 1.50am on Sunday morning and didn't go back to sleep until 10.30am! Resulted in a v tired DH and I. Last night was fine though, so fingers crossed it was a blip.

Amberc · 20/09/2010 10:57

All went well at my scan - hurrah! Time to spend spend spend!!!!!!!!!!!! I have two good sized singletons and nearly passed out on the scanning bed as he put me flat so we had to do the rest on my side. Blimey you can really tell the difference between NHS and private - no plasma screen to watch it on and no mints on reception tee hee. Happy now.
Dewin - hey just going on my own symptomless early pregnancy sop what do I know. Hope everyone else is right!

DewinDoeth · 20/09/2010 11:34

Hm, well, I still think it's too early to test so haven't tested. It's hard to know - I keep thinking I have symptoms - but then I want to have symptoms IYKWIM so it could just be me being overimaginative/overly aware of my body. However, I am still feeling sick off and on, and I had that about a week before fmp last time. Shock (Neenz go away with your scary twins talk! Grin I did have severe symptoms very early on last time. Mind you, I was also convinced I was carrying twins early on but I wasn't - that's not uncommon, apparently you can have two at the early stages but one goes with no signs of loss, just nobody knows quite how common it is because women aren't scanned until 12 weeks normally.)

So, my symptoms so far: heavy boobs, painful nips, feeling sick esp in the morning, and a strange taste in my mouth (now that's a funny one but again it could be my imagination/wishful thinking!). And extreme tiredness.
But I have to remember I've just got over a bout of gastroenteritis. (Would be great to be that fertile, tho!)

DebInAustria · 20/09/2010 12:23

Dewin - I just came on to find out if you had any more symptoms! They all sound like early pregnancy symptoms to me , but like you say some could be wishful thinking.

Amber - great news

Spider, have a lovely time with knitting and her ds's. What was up with P then? Was he ill or just awake?

systemsaddict · 20/09/2010 12:46

Great news Amber, and belated congrats - I have just had to scan through loads of old threads to find out when you found out you were having twins! I have missed so much of everyone's news!!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 20/09/2010 13:01

Hope Knitting, H&S and Spider all having fun today. What are you all up to? It's glorious here so I'm wishing I'd made some plans to get outdoors somewhere. It's a local holiday so the local parks etc will be chock full of older children which I usually find quite stressful with S on my own.

Actually, S is currently in his buggy watching Toy Story 2 - he had a 10 minute wee power nap in the car early which means it would be really hard for him to drop off for a proper nap so I'm hoping he might nod off in his buggy.

Spider - sorry to hear about your long night - that's awful! Are you back into your usual pattern now? One of the worst things about bad nights is that everyone is tired, grumpy and out of sorts for a few days/nights afterwards ime.

For any thomas fans out there - I came across some wooden railway talking thomas half price. The prices listed on the page are the half price. Thomas wooden railway stuff is expensive so bit of a bargain I thought. Good for Christmas presents too

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 20/09/2010 13:04

Amber, apologies, I forgot to add my congratulations!

Dewin, I hope you get the news you're hoping for. Who knows, you could be lucky!

Now, I don't know about anyone else, but I actually use H&S (health and safety) quite a lot a work, but now whenever I read it or write it I think Hard & Sleazy' Grin

I'm thinking of a new name myself, but not inspired yet.

DewinDoeth · 20/09/2010 13:15

Great news Amber! So exciting! Am I allowed to start knitting teensy tiny cardigans now, then? Little girl cardis are so gorgeous (I don't knit for Iestyn because he looks strangely feminine as it is and people kept saying what a cute girl he was when he was a baby. Hmm Fortunately he's very much a little boy in behaviour now.)

I did request a while back that I get to call her Sleazy! Grin

DG where do you get all these discount tipoffs? I want to know!

Knitting hope you're ok and not too worried - I think there's been some good advice on here.

Spider sorry about the dreadful night. It sounds like you might have a thread record there?

Abdn I always feel like an outsider in London because I don't speak the same language as everyone else! But that can be fun as well - especially when people say things about you in English ('yeah but she's foreign' and worse...)

Systems welcome back! I used to be Essie (still am in RL!) but I think you guessed. No news here - well, apart from the starting ttc this month and immediately assuming a pregnancy Grin - although I did have a shite time of it at work etc recently. That's not particularly exciting news, though!

Got to go - freshers week here, and pretty hectic. I have an exam on 11th October (i.e. taking it myself for the first time in 13 years) so may not should not appear as much on here.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 20/09/2010 13:32

That particular one I came across by accident while skiving studying last night! DH's family are incapable of choosing gifts for S and my MIL was asking for ideas for Christmas presents (see, it's not just me Wink) which usually means that if I don't email some specific ideas within about a week she'll go off and buy some tat choose something herself. I'd come across the talking thomas stuff before and thought it was pretty expensive for what it is, but half price is a whole other story... But generally, I keep an eye out on the promo topic on here and sign up to emails from any shops/websites I like so I can keep an eye out for bargains.

I'm an amateur compared to my SIL though. She cannot bear to miss out on something cut price. She buys things for DN throughout the year and then asks her family if they'd 'like' to buy them for DN's Christmas/Birthdays etc. Yes, really.

Urrghhh, at the mention of exams Dewin. I have two in November. Biscuits has hers this week so good luck for those if you're reading Biscuits!

Amberc · 20/09/2010 13:42

Thatnks for the congrats everyone - I can breathe out now I think! Dewin - knit away!!! Puree has been putting away a few things for me and has some gorgeous knitted cardis - they are so much nicer than shop bought and it will be winter so will need them as have nothing and am planning on only really buying baby grows to start with.

systemsaddict · 20/09/2010 13:43

Dewin/Essie yes I assumed it was you from the Welsh name - is it sad that I'm also excited that you're ttc? Grin

SpiderWilliam · 20/09/2010 17:35

Just lunch at Knitting's house. It was lovely.

Amber - good news on the scan. Is Mark anymore chilled about the twins now it is more real?

Dewin - thinking of you.

SpiderWilliam · 20/09/2010 20:24

Dewin have you googled your real name recently? I have University Challenge on and one of the teams is Jesus, Oxford. Paxman in the intro was labouring Jesus's Welsh links so I googled you to see if that is where you went. Did you know that the top two links for your name are for your two (past and current) departments, but you have radically different haircuts in each profile? Grin

Apologies for the cyber-stalking.

Jesus are doing pretty badly: 25 vs Edinburgh on 285 Shock
