OK - none of my RL friends understand this. Today I was talking to my best friend about it and she said 'you need your head read'.

But I just love the man.

I loved him on Question Time the other night and in The Observer today.

It's slightly tragic, but I fantasise (in fact, I know) that in RL he and I would be soul mates.

(This must be a transgressive thing for me because I hated the Iraq War and what he did to the BBC in the aftermath).

Anyone want to join the AC fan club?

kitty me too. There was a thread the other week and a lot of closet AC fans came out of the woodwork.

kittycat37 · 29/05/2010 22:39

Oh I missed it Meglet!!! I must find it and find out who they are.

He is arrogant confident, which is always very attractive.

Yes LostArt - he is totally as you say and by his own admission likes to ogle women (he said in Observer interview today) and Fiona Miller has said that he is a nightmare to live with and does nothing at all domestically..

In other words a real chauvinist alpha male.

LostArtofKeepingASecret · 29/05/2010 22:55

Kitty I think, given all of his short commings, he'll be total wrong for you. I'll have him instead

kittycat37 · 29/05/2010 23:05

He would be wrong for me....but oh so right.

I think he's the kind of git bloke people mean when they say 'why do women like b'stards?'

beanlet · 29/05/2010 23:14

I'm with you kitty cat -- AC does it for me every time

BenHer · 29/05/2010 23:23

As a bloke I respect any confident bloke that doesn't drink or hide a homosexual in his closet.

TDiddy · 30/05/2010 08:30

I can see why women would find AC attractive. I am hetereo but I find him very appealing.

PS Nice thing about the Campbell's is that they walk the walk on:

1)Party service/loyalty: you did his best from Brown after being associated as a Blairite

2)He and his wife took control of the local school rather than send his kids private (unlike many champagne socialists, me included!)

loungelizard · 30/05/2010 09:56

Agree with TDiddy.

And it wasn't only him who took us into Iraq (whether you agree with the war or not...)!!!!

TDiddy · 30/05/2010 10:14

yes, AC's job was to look after and defend the PM; a job that he excelled in and continues to do very well.

loungelizard · 30/05/2010 10:48

I think if more people actually listened to what he says rather than have a knee-jerk reaction to him, they would find they probably agree with him, more often than not.

He seems to be the voice of reason to me most of the time.

I don't know why people are so horrid about him, I've always liked him (runs for cover)

TDiddy · 30/05/2010 10:52

I think that some find him attractive because of ;
1)his obvious passion and loyalty
2)he shows his vulnerable side at the same time re: his struggle with mental illness

Georgelassosthemoon · 30/05/2010 11:00

TDiddy has got it spot on for me

Docbunches · 30/05/2010 11:11

I love AC too, mainly for the reasons given by TDiddy. I thought he was compelling and charismatic on Question Time last week... I find that I can't turn off the TV when he's in full swing, eg, the 'fight' with Adam Boulton on Sky, which I always knew AC would win .

Yep count me in too please! I love him as does my very hetero DH!

SambuccaKelly · 30/05/2010 11:15

I don't fancy him - I don't even like him (have met him and he is quite a bastard) - but I think he is a brilliant man and I have huge admiration for him. Absolutely phenomenally intelligent and very, very funny.

I also think he frightens the life out of most of the opposition party/ies. He could tear most of the Tories to shreds with that tongue of his - very, very sharp.

I have my own opinions on the Iraq qar, which I shan't go into now, but I don't go in for all the 'he's a murderer' stuff, obviously.
