It's too exciting not to get people 'round for the 6th. I'm thinking I need topical food, so:

  • something on toast ... yes we will still remember that next week
  • something with mushy peas - do you remember Mandelson's guacamole gaff (followed up by the green slime attack)?
But then that leaves terrible blanks for Lib Dem and Tory foods ... so I turn to my brainy mumsnetters for inspiration! Any ideas? ;D

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/04/2010 19:02

does anyone with out a social life fancy an mn party on the 6th???

TiggyR · 30/04/2010 19:48

Bigots sorry, I meant faggots.

If I were you I'd hedge my bets and get some some well hung game!

TiggyR · 30/04/2010 19:49

Ooh, yes. I have no social life whatsoever. Well, a tiny one, but nothing to boast about. I'll definitely be in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/04/2010 20:03

lol Tiggyr - that made me giggle.

Excellent. Party of 2

I'll start another thread........

SethStarkaddersMum · 30/04/2010 20:12

I'm in. Literally.

whomovedmychocolate · 30/04/2010 20:17

I just bought some Pringles (they are on buy one get two free at Sainsburys ) for election night. Yes, not a gourmet moment but quite apt.

You sort of fancy them all a bit, but then you have too much of them and feel a bit sick.

But then you have to put up with them for ages because you've bought into the who Pringles thing (and there are two more tubes to go!)

SethStarkaddersMum · 30/04/2010 20:25

Do you find it really off-putting that the Pringles tubes now tell you how many there are in a tube? (93 I think.) It takes away all the mystery and sense that there is an infinite supply.

BOGTF is hardcore, though.

Cartoose · 30/04/2010 21:00

I love those cupcakes

whomovedmychocolate · 30/04/2010 21:02

I don't like them very much. But I think they may have cocaine in because you just can't eat one

AvadaKedavra · 30/04/2010 21:12

Eggs surely - they have enough of em thrown at them!

bilblio · 30/04/2010 21:17

Can I join the MN night in?
This will probably be the first election where I've not stayed up till the early hours watching the last few votes comes in. But DD gets up at 6 so I'll need an earlier night than normal.

Last election the people I worked with thought I was totally crackers for asking for the day after off work, but then I doubt many of them bothered voting either.

TiggyR · 30/04/2010 21:30

I bought 6 pots of Pringles in the BOGTW offer. I'm on a diet, but it was too good to miss. I can honestly say I've never eaten enough pringles to make me feel sick. And I've eaten alot of pringles.

whomovedmychocolate · 30/04/2010 21:36

I was thinking about inviting the local bigots round for some roast pig in a beurre blanc sauce.

Wineonafridaynight · 30/04/2010 21:44

We were just doing party food for our election party but I think I am going to do multi-party election food!

Spoofie · 01/05/2010 04:28

kneazle, you're my kind of person! Very amusing.

Jenski · 01/05/2010 08:57

I may need to work on the starter but here goes:

Cleggy bread

Red Snapper accompanied by Spring Greens

Blueberry Fool

I actually thought about this in the middle of the night

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/05/2010 08:59

lol Jenski!!

bilblio - of course

all4u · 01/05/2010 11:48

well I will do a properly BALANCED menu and hope the results reflect this!

Madsometimes · 01/05/2010 12:12

When I was unpacking Ocado order this morning I noticed dh had ordered 3 packets of kettle chips, 1 big pack of twiglets, 1 big bag of bombay mix and a large bag of peanuts, plus two bottles of whiskey.

All for him. For election night. I may help a little with this lot, but I do not have the stamina to pull an all nighter and then get up the next day. He will simply take the day off and lie in bed, but I have children to get ready. Actually he has children too, but it will come down to me.

Annoyed, me! Well since I cannot stay up all night, I may as well go to bed a normal time!

Psammead · 02/05/2010 15:30

For drinks you could have Gordons (gin) on the rocks...

[shamelessly stolen from a news item I read today emoticon]

WilfSell · 02/05/2010 20:15

I'm thinking of hemlock meself.
