Thoughts on Calvin Robinson and his followers?

I’ve got to come on here after what is honestly the most flabbergasting post I have seen this week.

For anyone who doesn’t know, my understanding is that Calvin Robinson is a far-right commentator and priest (though I recall some issue of him no longer being allowed to be a member of the clergy in this country due to his views - may be wrong on that though). I believe he is also good friends with Laurence Fox.

He has today made this Facebook post criticising our Home Secretary.

Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly things to critique her for but this is just completely unhinged.

I knew vaguely of him as a right-wing commentator but to me this is another level.

In particular his comment that only white Christian men should be allowed to hold any power. Not to mention the anti-semitism that he spouts.

But what surprised me even more was the women commenting on his post agreeing with him!! I truly do not understand how they can sit there and say “yes please take my rights away”. The Handmaid’s Tale and Serena Joy springs to mind!

It genuinely concerns me for the state of this country. Not just that one loon will spout rubbish to get attention, but the amount of people who support it!

i’ll post a screenshot of the post for further context

Is anyone else concerned for not even just this country but the whole world? It all just seems to be going mad!!

Just to add as well, he bangs on about which ethnicities should be allowed in Britain, when he himself is not white! The hypocrisy astounds me!

Look into his links to schools and education and educationalists.

Wow! Just had a quick google and even that had floored me.

How such hateful people can get these grips in education is truly scary!

I have never heard of the guy.

The men only thing is in the Bible. 1 Tim 2:12. I have no idea where he gets his anti-Islam from the Bible. The NT predates Islam by about 600 years.

Looking up the Jew Relief Act of 1858, I can sort of see how he connects that to having non Christians in Government. But it is very very tenuous. And very likely wrong.

Jews Relief Act 1858 (legislation.gov.uk)

He is totally batshit of course. I don't have FB, but if someone posted that to me, I would tackle it whoever posted it. Prove their connections wrong. And wow, looking up the first UK Muslim MP, I get Mohammad Sarwar in 1997, Glasgow Govan. That is where I would start my debunking. Were Muslims ever banned from being MPs, that sort of thing.

I know debunking these nutters is usually a waste of time. But it can be interesting to find stuff out.

Oh. He is wrong about Christians running the country for 1 K years. Because the UK is not that old, and 1k years ago takes us into Viking time.

An Act to provide for the Relief of Her Majesty’s Subjects professing the Jewish Religion.

I am always tempted to get into all the reasons why it’s batshit but I just think it isn’t worth the energy to argue with someone stupid!

I agree though that it is interesting to know why exactly they are wrong by researching the facts!

Unfortunately I fear we will have to get the debunking of this crap fine tuned. Because US VP JD Vance is a Great Replacement conspiracist. And so is Trump.

He had a much higher profile about seven years ago when he had just left teaching and was hanging around Birbalsingh. Really he has become an irrelevance. His views are abhorrent and increasingly so. Lots of it is for attention.

1000 years ago takes us to 1026, when England, Scotland, and the kingdoms of Wales and Ireland were all very definitely being run by Christian kings. You have to go back several hundred more years for the last pagan Anglo-Saxon monarch (probably Penda of Mercia) and by 1026 the Vikings were also broadly all Christian, although less uniformly - Harald Bluetooth converted in the middle of the 10th century and the Icelandic Althing voted for Christianisation in the year 1000.

Calvin Robinson is an absolutel swivel-eyed raving lunatic with awful awful ideas, so apologies for my pedantry - you have the right ideas, just the facts aren't quite right!

Fair point re the Vikings being Christian. It does not end that argument against him I think, because it was not the Christianity of this fella I suspect. Unless he is keen for the UK to come under the authority of The Pope.

He didn't say white, and since he's black himself it would be unlikely that he would.

He was sacked from GBNews for being extreme, that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the mad bastard man.

My mistake, I did misremember that part! Interesting how he seems to be able to cater these views to suit himself though!

He started off, years ago, being quite interesting but since he left the CoE he has appeared to become increasingly… eccentric

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2026 22:25

I don't think he was ever in the CofE was he?

Piggywaspushed · 21/07/2026 22:30

Here is his religious path, which is also most erratic:

Robinson trained at St Stephen's House, Oxford, from 2020 with the hope of being ordained in the Church of England, but he was unsuccessful in his application for a curacy.[10] In 2022, he was ordained as a deacon in the Free Church of England, a conservative Confessing Anglican denomination, which he left in 2023 to join the Nordic Catholic Church, a conservative Old Catholic denomination of high church Lutheran patrimony, which ordained him as a priest.[11]
In 2024 he moved to the United States to become a priest in the Anglican Catholic Church, a Continuing Anglican denomination.[1] The Anglican Catholic Church removed Robinson on 29 January 2025, four days after he ended a speech with a gesture which the church said had been widely interpreted as a "pro-Nazi salute", in an apparent reference to Elon Musk's similar gesture earlier that month.[1][12][13] In May 2025, Robinson's parish voted to disaffiliate from the ACC, and he was granted a temporary licence by Bishop Ray Sutton of the Reformed Episcopal Church, part of the Anglican Church in North America.[14] This was revoked nine days later after criticism from ACNA archbishop Steve Wood.[15] In 2025, Robinson became licensed to preach in the English Catholic Church of North America, a Continuing Anglican denomination; he became permanently incardinated into it on 4 February 2026.[16]

He tried. He was very trying.

I remember reading about a couple of his battles with the CofE when they would not ordain him and an interview where he claimed ordination in the “Catholic Church” which resulted in a swift “not this one” from the RC Diocese in question. He wasn’t always a total loon - I’m sure he used to be just weird enough to be denied ordination.

He disappeared for quite a while, no idea what summoned him from the deep for the more recent flurry of activity.

PerkingFaintly · 21/07/2026 22:55

Sounds less like a religious path than a power-seeking path.

toadinthewotsit · 21/07/2026 23:07

I tackled him on twitter a couple of times when he was attempting to pass as a Catholic priest-obviously he was unabl to answer which RC Bishop had ordained him.My son met him at Oxford and wasn't impressed. I think "swivel eyed loon", as another poster described, is about right!!! 😂

movinghomeadvice · 21/07/2026 23:11

I am a Christian and I remember listening to his interview on Triggernometry a few years back. He made some good points and was very articulate so I started following him on X. I then watched him become more and more unhinged to the point where I had to unfollow him. The Nazi salute thing was so bad. The podcast with the other guy (Fox someone?) while they smoked cigars was so cringe. I have no patience for people what say women shouldn’t vote, especially when they are church leaders.

I am also immediately suspicious of anyone who has been kicked out of leadership in multiple church dioceses. Hint: maybe the problem isn’t with the church!

Most certainly he was. He left because they blocked his ordination.

PerkingFaintly · 21/07/2026 23:29

'Steve Wood, the archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America [...] criticised Sutton's choice to temporarily license Robinson, stating that "I have concerns about Rev. Robinson’s ability to uphold the full commitments of our Anglican tradition, and his ability to model the Christ-like virtues of peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and love" '

That kicks out his 1k years claim then.

Yes, I suppose I meant he was never ordained in the CofE - just wanders about finding someone who'll take him.

Jealousy that the 'other Robinson' is getting all the attention?

PrincessOfPreschool · Yesterday 07:12

I find it interesting you can be so anti 'Mohamedan' (is that a word from the 12th century) as well as anti Jewish. I guess he's anti everyone except 'Christian' males. I would love to know how he decides who is a Christian - is it just self ID (a 'declaration')? Maybe women can also self ID as men then?
