Iran Is Now More Dangerous Than Ever
After three months of war, Tehran feels it has little left to lose.

Iran did not win the war, it won something more dangerous
The war didn’t collapse Iran. It cemented its control over Hormuz, rewired its alliances, and strengthened the very institutions the US targeted.

Iran could emerge from the war stronger and more dangerous

Trump’s Iran deal is a national humiliation

I was surprised that Hamas was volunteering to pass political control of Gaza to US. They have been in power, without further elections, for around 20 years. It looked like they were rather attached to their post as the government of Gaza.
Hamas does not care a bit about Gazans. That they have widely proved. But I thought they cared about ruling Gaza.

Will US make a better job of providing house, water, food, restoring schools, hospitals and so on? I really do not know. They are in this group with some ME countries, so maybe? I do hope so.

No it’s a tragic consequence of an urban war. A war started by Hamas, who actually did deliberately kill children. And chose to use their own people as human shields, and store their weapons under hospitals and civilian infrastructure.
Israel has a right to defend itself against the utter evil of the terrorists of Hamas.

It's certainly true that Hamas hides within its own civilian population, putting them in danger.
The other thing, which it seems that no one but me understands, is that one reason so many children are killed, is simply the makeup of Palestinian households. If you bombed an American house, chances are you'd kill maybe a husband, wife and a child, maybe two. Based of what I've seen/read, if you bomb a Palestinian house, you kill a big extended family, with many more children.

What do we think of this https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jul/06/hamas-offers-hand-over-authority-gaza-us-backed-administration

I was rather surprised to read this this morning. I am in quiet a bit of disbelief.

I hadn't heard this about Hamas being willing to hand over authority to the U.S. I thought for a moment that it was an old article from the beginning of the conflict. But since Trump now has shown no interest in saving anyone, and is only dreaming of emptying out the territory and making it a luxury vacation place, I can't understand it at all.

I am baffled, indeed. Hamas has been asked to disarm. They offer to hand over political control. Instead.

I think this conflict will carry on. Unchanged. All this bloodshed, all these tears, all the destruction, Lebanon torn appart too, again, for nothing. They will carry on bombing, terrorising and hating each other.
I do not see an end to this, at all.
Iran/ US, I think will stop. On the surface, at least. The spying, sanctioning, distrusting and so on of the past will continue. But I think the bombing will stop. With limited campaigns here and there till they sign the final paperwork and cheque to settle.

And what are Israel doing, you can't call one side terrorists and then legitimatise Israel.

How many civilians, in particular children have Israel killed in the last two years.

There is absolutely no justification for there actions it would be like the English carpet bombing Northern Ireland because of the IRA.

anniegun · 08/07/2026 10:15

A stupid war started on behalf of Israel by the most stupid president America has ever elected.

MsAmerica · 24/06/2026 23:13

For me, I wouldn't say that a country that reportedly funds terrorists "isn't dangerous at all."

As a fellow American, I ask you this: Have you researched the terror groups we not only fund/have funded but are responsible for creating?

And yet you seem to be justifying the Iranian regime.

I don't think anyone one should have nuclear weapons, but based on an aggressive neighbour that does it makes perfect sense why they would want one.

You honestly think Iran wants to kill us, I think you'll find like all these wars the side that is attempting a Samson and Goliath type battle will revert to gorilla tactics.

Far better to work to build trust so they don't need nuclear weapons.

You honestly think Iran wants to kill us,

The people leading chants of death America, death to Israel, death to Englnad do. And the people funded by Iran who want to kill Jews.

How am I doing that please explain. What business has the Iranian regime got to do with us. We keep making justification arguments for war when there is no evidence what so ever to make that justification.

Lots of regimes out there that don't match our ideals and that justifies war does it.

I'm afraid people like Trump and Netanyahu are are blast of toxic masculinity and utter greed. How many people have to die before people wake to the fact that it doesn't have to be like this.

Cuba, are they evil terrorists too, what about Indonesia....where does it all end.

By saying that they're not dangerous and don't want to kill us. Despite the terror attacks all around the worked they've helped fund.

As for toxic masculinity, do you know what happens to women in Iran?

How many terrorists have America funded? You use these words loosely like it's only Iran that funds groups to fight proxy warfare. Who funded the Taliban?

Fact from my perspective Iran isn't dangerous at all. Having worked and travelled across the entire middle east I found little to be worried about.

You'll find most of our problems are thanks to foreign policy and Israel and America.

Should Iran have nuclear weapons, well considering the threat from America and Israel the answer is categorically yes. Israel has nuclear weapons and refuses inspections.... clearly in breach of the rules. So why shouldn't Iran.

If we continue to punish countries like Iran and fail to reign in Israel then I strongly believe Turkey and Pakistan will put a stop to Israel. The yanks are absolutely powerless to stop it.... Turkey would have tanks in Israel within 4 days and any risk of a nuclear response would be met by Pakistan in kind.

We can not accept terrorism from one country but punish a neighbour for it.

Edited

Please keep Turkey out of this discussion. Turkish people (not the dictator who's using Israel for propaganda to distract people from the country's own issues and fooling noone) has zero interest in that swamp called middle East. No Turkish person is interested in "flatenning" anywhere. This war is never going to end, there's no solution, they'll just keep killing each other and trying to justify horrible war crimes and atrocities.

dwordle · 08/07/2026 15:48

The quicker the mid terms come and Trump is impeached the better the world will be.

That dribbling incontinent yank is causing so much havoc. Offended Spain and Denmark, calling Iranians scum bags......is this a president talking or drunk on meth.

Trump talking about taking Greenland by military means is beyond bad taste. The NATO chief needs to wake up and face the Americans are no longer friendly

As a fellow American, I ask you this: Have you researched the terror groups we not only fund/have funded but are responsible for creating?

Researched? No. I'm aware that we've deliberately funneled money to a wide range of bad people, and that in some cases, not deliberately. For instance, George W. Bush's administration is thought to have inadvertently created ISIS.

But my overall impression has been that the U.S. funded groups that were theoretically supposed to very narrowly counter other threats.

Did you have something specific in mind?
