Story Time for Reform Voters

Hello Reform voters! And welcome to story time.

Once upon a time there was a very naughty Austrian boy called Naughty A.

The Great War finished in 1918. Trade embargos and sanctions were imposed on Germany and the poor people in Germany were very angry.

Naughty A knew these poor people were very angry and he knew he could manipulate these poor people into making himself very powerful.

After being elected the head of the German Workers Party he changed the name to the National Socialist German Workers Party to try and trick the poor people into thinking they were a socilaist party that really cared about the poor people.
What sort of idiot would fall for that? And what sort of idiot would still believe things like that almost one hundred years after it happened?

Naughty A used divisive and hateful politics, saying he would fix the broken country. He blamed minorities for all the problems in the land.
Jewish people, gay people, disabled people who couldn't work, Romani gypsies, and other minorities.

He promised the poor people he would "Make Germany great again" and that they would "Take their country back" and his supporters put lots of flags everywhere to intimidate and scare people whilst they called themselves proud patriots.

Now the newspapers in Germany were owned by very rich people and they knew that if the poor people were listening to Naughty A they wouldn't notice that the newspaper owners were very rich and part of the problem.
So the newspaper owners became complicit in enabling and facilitating the divisive politics of Naughty A and his party.
The newspaper owners were so successful that lots and lots of the poor people began to support Naughty A and his party.

Does this sound familiar to you, children...?

That's because it is.

Ever claim, every smear, every lie that is hurled today at Muslims, immigrants, queer people, and trans people was used against Jewish people and other minorities by Naughty A and his horrible, horrible friends.

The people who disagree with you have no emoji to use to say so.

Up to 56 now.

What was it you found difficult about the story? Was it the uncomfortable parallels to modern events, or the fact you yourself have been hoodwinked by Naughty A Farage and believe that he'll absolutely fix everything and that the situation is definitely, definitely different this time around (it isn't)?

Does being patronising make you feel good? Because, otherwise… you’re wasting your time.

Nobody cares mate.

And that is one of the current problems. But not for the reasons you think.

I don't find anything difficult about the story. I find it old, stale, trite and I'm bored with it being rolled out by anyone who doesn't want to engage properly in discussions about why politics has been going the way it is since before the Brexit vote, and the root causes of voters behaving the way they are voting.

So it was the second option I gave, gotcha.

Don't you mean "they" is daft.

HermioneWeasley · 20/05/2026 14:06

I’m not a Reform voter and I think Farage is a shameless grifter.

i also think that women’s rights and ga rights have been harmed by trans ideology and worse, actual women and children have been harmed.

i think there’s a conversation that needs to be had about the impact of immigration and radical Islam.

If that makes me Hitler then so be it.

That was your take from me saying that your argument is one rolled out by people who don't want a proper debate about root causes?

Point proved I guess.

Agree with all of this. The Hitler comparisons are really boring.

Except, no Reform voter is being compared to Hitler, are they?

If you read the story, the assertion is the cyclical gullibility of people who are desperate and the warning that the shyster and grifter who comes along claiming to fix the entirely manufactured problem should be treated with at least suspicion and, at best, utter contempt.

The fact you missed that entirely suggests that perhaps the story, even when presented as a parable for children, was a little too advanced.

The fact that you think what people are upset about are "entirely manufactured problems" says everything we need to know about discussion this with you.

Where did I say Reform voters were being compared to Hitler?
The little story really isn’t too advanced.
What might be too advanced is the ability to recognise that the world isn’t black and white, that other people might have different views and their problems aren’t necessarily “fabricated” even if you disagree with them.

You're getting confused again.

Nobody said the world was black and white. And that's part of the problem.
Fascism won't march onto the cover of your beloved Daily Heil and announce itself as such; it will insidiously whisper things you really want to hear until you support it to such a degree that you don't notice its mission creep.

The story is a perfectly accurate teaching tool for those who vote Reform, or worse, and don't understand where their actions will have on the civilised society.
