Who are Scottish people voting for next month?

John Swinney is absolutely hopeless and only leader because the others are even more dim witted

He destroyed kids’ lives with his Covid policies in tow with the self seeking sturgeon, and must have known about the corruption too

Aggressive? Arrogant? In denial about the state of Scotland's education system...? Jenny Gilruth, is that you..?! Grin

Seriously though... if you want to win over those of us who aren't currently on board with independence (and let’s face it, you'll have to if you want the needle to move) you're going to need much stronger arguments and - I say this with the best of intentions - perhaps a little more charm.

This thread has nothing to do with independence.

Kate was in the contest with Humza and Ash. She was second. She’ll be missed!

You are right, of course!

I remember being impressed by how honest she was.

Same though I voted Humza first then her. Didn’t rank Ash 😬!

Well two days to go. Tomorrow voting. Friday the results. No overnight counting which I’m quite glad about tbh as I won’t have to stay up all night 🤣.

Good luck to all of you in Scotland, even if we’ve argued over this.

We’re all Scottish at the end of the day and all of us deserve representation in our parliament.

Well, the time is near upon us!

All the Best to you all.

Whoever wins, I hope that they do enough to make all our lives better.

🤣

No. Though I've voted SNP/SNP too (postal).

Well done! I'm just waiting for my teens to be presentable before we all go to the polling station, I'm so pleased they are getting to vote for the first time.

OMG. My youngest voted for the first time in the referendum. Yes. The next morning he was actually in tears and said he was never voting again.

I had to explain to him that we can’t always win, but you need to vote.

So he voted Labour for Jeremy Corbyn in his next vote and I told him to never darken my doorstep again. 🤣

He obviously ignored me.

Don’t know who he’s voted this time, could be Labour, SNP or SGP!

Yes, I've just had a discussion with DD as DH is voting Green for his 2nd vote (South Scotland).

We had a lovely rational conversation about it but we both think we're right! DD and DS1 will have to make up their own minds, which is the point of it.

My activist sister messaged me at 7.15 this morning to tell me to vote, she's definitely on the ball!

tigger1001 · 07/05/2026 13:33

I'm politically homeless these days.

I've always been a big advocate of getting out to vote but honestly none are worthy of it.

my choices are hold my nose and tactically vote or spoil my ballot paper

bentneckwine1 · 07/05/2026 14:31

I have just voted in Scotland - John Swinney is my MSP and I definitely didn’t vote for him. I would love him to loose his seat. I voted Labour on both slips

I did the same with my son and DIL 🤣

I never get the “hold my nose” thing. I see it literally 😬🤣

She went next door to my neighbour, who asked her exactly the same thing.
🤣

But they’ll say “this never comes up on the doorstep”.

I see that Reform UK are doing well in England's council elections.

God Forbid that that pattern is repeated by English voters in a General Election and a Reform UK PM returned.

How do you think people on the islands with medical issues feel about the ferry problems?
Residents on Mull who require kidney dialysis need to take the ferry to Oban from where they are driven by taxi to Lochgilphead (60 miles) for the dialysis and then back, they need to do this several times every week.
The local hospice charity has fitted out a flat for cancer patients from the islands to stay when they need to travel to/from the mainland for medical appointments because the ferry service is so unreliable now, people have to travel days ahead to be sure they make it and risk getting stuck on the way back.
And you know what, it wasn't always like this, I've lived here long enough to know that this running down of vital rural services has happened under the SNP government.

I wonder how many are incomers not really knowing about island life? Expecting mainland city standards.

Seriously ill patients have the GAMA opportunity.

The ferries are old & the new ones though not fit - dual powerplants? Nice thought but practicably?

Mind you, didn't Westminster build 2 aircraft carriers but no aircraft for them? 🤣🤣🤣
