Zelensky & Trump

The world is a scary place at the moment. Whatever is truly going on in international politics, it seems that we are not meant to know. Was the televised meeting just a piece of showmanship? I don’t know. If not, it was a very strange affair. Although many would suffer in a third world war, there would surely be many who would profit. We should all pray that common sense will prevail for the future of humanity.

That was a real disgrace. Vance blowing hot air because he's finally been giving a chance by Musk to speak and Trump thinking he can dictate to another president but nobody can "dictate anything" to him.

Such bullies not letting Zelensky answer any question, even the idiot reporter who asked him about wearing a suit wouldn't let him speak.

No one's asked president Musk why he doesn't dress properly to his cabinet meetings.

JazzyBBBG · 28/02/2025 22:21

WTAF is going on.

I hope the UK/ France/Germany/ Australia etc all come out in support of Zelensky and start making Trump's life difficult.

Did anyone see what John Caudill said on Question Time last night? I thought his theory about the US, Russia and China ganging up together to take everything over was chillingly accurate.

JoyousEagle · 28/02/2025 22:38

even the idiot reporter who asked him about wearing a suit wouldn't let him speak.

Marco Rubio looked like he wanted to be anywhere else during that exchange.

The reporter is Majorie Taylor Greene's partner, so not a lot of rational thought going on in that household.

Maddy70 · 28/02/2025 23:42

America looking very stupid right now Putin's puppets

wonderstuff · 28/02/2025 23:47

The comments on Newsnight from Trump supporting politicians were wild.

One woman was saying that Zelensky was corrupt and Americans were paying for his yacht and repeating this lie that America was making $300bn gifts but European countries all loaning money instead.

I think it’s quite scary. Post truth.

StaringAtTheWater · 28/02/2025 23:49

I'm kinda in shock after seeing this - it was crazy and very scary. It's made the west look so weak and divided in front of Russia, China etc.

Europe (including the UK) will need to pull their fingers out asap and come up with a plan to support Ukraine to carry on fighting credibly.

cakeybird · 01/03/2025 00:44

We just have to hope that it will unite Europe against trump more.

AutumnCrow2 · 01/03/2025 00:51

Trump’s all about gratification in the moment, and just occasionally with a useful idiotic maverick like Vance in tow he can put the effort in for a bit short-termism.

He’ll regret this lack of vision.

Possibly by tomorrow.

Maitri108 · 01/03/2025 00:57

It was said that a Russian state reporter was there. I also believe that Trump is vetting reporters.

Very strange for such strong proponents of freedom of speech.

thistimelastweek · 01/03/2025 01:04

It was shocking.
I think we've all just seen a pivotal moment that will go down in the history books.

Slavetomycat · 01/03/2025 02:26

I'm horrified and embarrassed that this happened. To treat a man like that, publicly, is shameful. The fact that it alert means Trump actually sides with Putin to this extent is terrifying. I live in America, and I'm scared now.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 01/03/2025 02:36

I agree with the China taking over theory however I dont think they will include Russia and US

China play the long game

They are lying in the grass waiting for the right
Moment.

Covid
Infiltrating our social networks. TikTok etc
Infiltrating our market with cheap shit temu shein making them very very rich. But only those at the top. The
Minions are disposable.
Our kids are hooked on cheap
Vapes from China
Bring up our housing and land and business even in some cases our nuclear power.
143 billion in uk assets

Why have we allowed this?

Then when time is right they will strike.

Why are we allowing this?

BurntBroccoli · 01/03/2025 11:46

It was absolutely horrific - the bullying from Trump and Vance.
This photo of the Ukraine ambassador says it all 😞

Zelensky & Trump
TheCastleDoesNotReply · 01/03/2025 12:11

This was orchestrated and planned. Trump hates Zelensky due to the Hunter Biden fiasco during Trump's first term. He also hates that Zelensky is a statesman and a warrior whereas Trump is a draft-refusing failed businessman turned convict so rightly feels inferior in Zelensky's presence.

Zelensky's rationality, dignity, integrity and calm composure while dealing with this unwarranted rant from these jumped-up tyrants demanding that people should be "grateful" for them providing a fake figure of aid which Trump claimed to be quadruple the actual amount (and less than Europe has provided to Ukraine) and accusing Zelensky of being "disrespectful" when Trump had accused him of starting the invasion of his own country and being a dictator is embarrassing.

Then the audacity of trying to blackmail a country into signing over its natural resources to the US, which has already breached the Budapest Memorandum, and claim that a country fighting to protect its sovereignty and territory means it "doesn't want peace". How fucking dare he? Clearly he was putting on a show for his handler, along with his loud-mouthed trailor trash VP. I think Trump is now running scared because he's realised Ukraine won't roll over and he can't deliver what he promised to his handler. Krasnov is soon going to find the chips are called in and there is a price to pay for the free lunch he's been enjoying since the '80s when he became subject to kompromat.

The American public and the rest of their politicians should hang their heads in shame and history will not be forgiving for the failure of the American populace and institutions to do anything to stand up to the tyrant Comrade Krasnov. The Americans can be trusted no more than Putin going forward. Threatening Canada, Mexico, Greenland, the EU, Ukraine. They are a disgraced nation now and can never again claim to be "the leaders of the free world".

TheCastleDoesNotReply · 01/03/2025 13:24

When you start voting with North Korea on UN resolutions you have lost any soft power in the western world.

European leaders are forced to be polite to him for now while we remove any reliance on the US for anything but it will soon become a pariah as far as all civilised countries are concerned.

What they have done will likely have a significant impact on geo-politics, much of it very bad. The one consolation is it will be extremely bad for the US in the long run. They can repent at leisure.

roses2 · 01/03/2025 13:26

Why do people keep referring to Trump as a failed businessman? Yes he is a vile person but he was a millionaire/billionaire before he was president the first time!! That sounds like a successful businessman to me albeit not a very nice one.

Slimbear · 01/03/2025 13:30

I just watched the Fox News interview that VZ went onto after the Oval Office -interviewer had been to Ukraine and knew VZ. He was asked several times to apologise to Trump and in a reasonably subtle way VZ avoided that and did not apologise 👏👏👏

Inherited wealth and many bankruptcies.

TheCastleDoesNotReply · 01/03/2025 13:38

Daddy's money, much of which he lost. Multiple failed enterprises losing billions of dollars. He has generated very little wealth at all and lost far more. What he has is a combination of what he inherited, a bit of money made from shouting his mouth off on TV, money siphoned off from misconduct in public office since entering politics and cashflows of dubious origin (the latter making up a very significant proportion). He may like to portray himself as a successful businessman but like most things Trump claims to be the case this is far removed from reality.

Don Jr. admitted in 2008 that much of the family's assets were or Russian origin. Huge loans from Deutche Bank when no other western bank would touch Trump due to his corrupt business conduct. Deutche bank then found to have been laundering eye-watering amounts of Russian money. Coincidence? Perhaps. But evidence is mounting. The Deutche Bank fiasco, proven criminal behaviour, associations with Epstein, the Steele dossier, reports from senior ex-KGB agents about his recruitment in the '80s when it is well-known they were targeting corrupt western businessmen at that point. I mean, I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this isn't that, it is a mountain of evidence that grows ever larger: evidence from numerous different and unconnected sources is getting pretty difficult to dismiss especially given there is literally no other plausible explanation for his recent behaviour except that having bankrolled him for decades the chips are being called in and he's running scared, hence his tantrum yesterday because he'd misjudged and thought Ukraine would roll over and now can't give his handlers when he had promised.

NotinToTintin · 01/03/2025 13:38

Here is an interesting article on his financial ‘acumen’
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/sep/26/lucky-loser-review-how-donald-trump-squandered-his-wealth

he was born rich, and the people who are born rich can afford to fail for a very long time. He is also not at all afraid of taking risks (perhaps they don’t seem very risky to him?)

TheCastleDoesNotReply · 01/03/2025 13:44

@NotinToTintin having got away with this for decades I think he has fallen victim to the misbelief that he is invincible. This worked when he was of little interest to anybody but his vanity convinced him to go into politics and it must be starting to dawn on him that the reality is that this means there is now nowhere to hide and it is only a matter of time until everything is revealed, hence his rage and increasingly implausible lies that even in his delusion he must be aware are convincing nobody. Even denying things he's said on camera a couple of days beforehand. He's flailing around now like a trapped rat trying to dig his way out through a concrete floor. To use his own metaphor about card games, he has overplayed his hand and despite his self-delusion I think on some level he must know that the game will be up soon.

Gabcsika · 01/03/2025 14:06

Don't know about China, US and Russia being able to take everything over.

They are all run by boomers (in the presidency and hold holding the reigns) who are in their last deathgrip of their sociopathic power play.

Once they are gone, then what? They never gave their kids the opportunity....

Still. It'll be left to late millennials and the Star Wars generation to clean up their mess... I doubt that generation in the US will. Be able to do it because they are too endebted and their parents haven't really let them had training. Likewise in China - their kids don't want thay shit that went before... Likewise u Russia who have an aging population and haven't let anyone young anywhere near politics really.. . Likewise the UK.. Who are too busy endebiting their youth to vast amounts of mortgage and student debt.

Maybe Eastern European countries whose boomers don't seem to hate their kids, and were given a semblance of a chance will come to the fore. Possibly the Blatics and Poland and Romania.

We'll see, but I honestly don't think after the boomers in charge disappear those counties where they have been in charge will do well.

penguinbiscuity · 01/03/2025 18:31

There was a post on the last threasd I wanted to reply to:

Trump ended the meeting by telling Zelensky that this will make great television.
That’s who holds the nuclear button now. A failed reality tv star who still thinks he is on a tv show.

I think there's something significant to understand about this - Trump is more concerned with ratings than sincerity. He and Vance were playing to the crowd. That may lack any morals but currently it's working for them. The questions Vance threw as Zelensky and which he wasn't given a chance to answer - Vance didn't care about the answers. He was playing to the gallery with a load of far right nonsense.

And this is where Trump's powerbase is - not through traditional politics but mobilising people through social media. Now he's got Musk on board he owns the public square - or a large part of it.

I'm starting to wonder if social media is seriously dangerous - every day we're feeding more data into a system that, increasingly, is owned by people who want power and control. And they are learning more all the time about how to manipulate us.

Having worked in marketing I know three things to be true -

  1. You can manipulate groups of people to do what you want (e.g. buy your products / vote a certain way) if you understand the group and what influences them.
  2. Most people don't like to admit they are influenced by anything other than their own free will - certainly not marketing or social media
  3. The longer people choose to pretend they're not influenced by adverts and online content, the easier it is for those who wish to manipulate us to just get on with it

We're moving from a world where we had a personal sphere where our friends and family had the biggest influence on us, to one where those who wish to influence us from afar have our wrapt attention for several hours every day - if we're online.

I'm feeling pretty depressed about it tbh as although I understand this, I still don't want to get rid of my social media. I know I'm being bewitched by pretty things, yet still...

DeadSpace3 · 01/03/2025 23:11

Those two were an absolute pair of scumbags. That was scripted and orchestrated by Putin. It shows how dumb Americans can be when they elect a sex offender and obvious Russian asset (seems to be the new in-word!).

I hope the UK, Australia, Canada and all of the EU help Ukraine. We stood up to Hitler and we'll be judged as cowards by history if we let Ukraine fall to Russia. After that it will be Poland, guaranteed.

It's an absolute 💩storm on YouTube, the place is flooded with Russian bots and shills posting all kinds of rubbish & YT don't seem to either know how, or want, to do anything about it.

SunDash · 01/03/2025 23:18

Don't believe Trump's lie that Zelensky's gambling could cause ww3.
Stop behaving like an RT addled innocent, judging from your post.
Trump should be more on Ukraine's side, and less with America's enemies, right?
