Fed up of the ConDems robbing the poorest and most vulnerable blind? Sympathetic to the squeezed middle? Have you eyes that can see the horrors that await the dismantling of our welfare state and all that is great and good in UK?

Then you're a frother. This is our safe-space to rally, vent and get organised. You are also welcome if you want to be better informed and/or do something.

This was just sent to me on Twitter

www.gmb.org.uk/gmb_campaigns/other_campaigns/save_remploy_factories.aspx

Once again all 54 Remploy factories are under threat of closure when current public funding ends in April 2013. Closing Remploy is the aim of conflicted axe grinders who want the funding for themselves. Another threat is that the factories are rendered less economic being only 50% loaded because public bodies have failed to support them with work as allowed under EU rules.
It would cost Treasury less to keep the factories operating fully loaded rather than putting the workers out of work on welfare. The majority of Remploy workers who lost their jobs in 2008 are still on welfare 3 years later

Except they are not going to pay DLA or any other benefits, if they can possibly get away with it. Bastards.

KnottyJustForChristmas · 19/12/2011 08:51

MmeL, how are you feeling this morning? Off to the Dr's, I hope.

I've just put today's post onto the blog.

KnottyJustForChristmas · 19/12/2011 09:18

I've just read the Remploy link. I feel quite sick.

Yet another attack on disabled.

I wonder if we could do a quick post on it and link the campaign on the blog.

MmeLindor. · 19/12/2011 09:44

Thanks, Knotty. Will check and tweet.

Yes, good idea for a blog post. Does anyone have time?

Sue Marsh from this blog that went viral this weekend woudl be interested in doing a blog post in the New Year. Do read her blog post of this weekend, it is absolutely atrocious what they are doing. Would be great to have her link up with us.

9 Ladies Dancing How the cuts disproportionately affect women??

8 Maids-a-Milking Support cuts for midwives/BFing counselling? NHS reforms with a focus on how services are allocated on political lines not clinical need Clare from FYP blog

7 Swans-a-Swimming 7 water companies AS this comes the day after another utility perhaps feature 7 Lib Dem election promises that have gone by the wayside or 7 Lib Dem politicians who are coasting along nicely in their ministerial jobs who need reminding of their pre-election promises and where their conscience resides

2 Turtle Doves 2 milibands How about something a bit less obvious, taking the imagery of the turtle dove and what it represents (love and loss) and twist it a bit to a comment on the coalition? A comment on the "romance" and make the point that without the coalition none of the cuts could be pushed through so quickly and so agressively?

And a Partridge in a Pear Tree. and a useless Labour parteeeeeeeeeeeeeee That is genius idea. It's a shame it comes first because it would go so well last as a summary

MmeLindor. · 19/12/2011 09:46

Have doc appt at 4pm, still feeling grotty. Chest a bit tight and cough back. Meh.

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 09:56

Hey, just popping my head round the door to say hello and goodbye. I'm taking a break from MN today. I have some RL stuff I must do and I'm licking my wounds after some rather unpleasant business on another thread. I'm that close to just deleting my account and riding off into the sunset... so I need to take a break and get some perspective back.

MmeL I really hope you're feeling better soon and I will read the blog and try to get onto Twitter.

MmeLindor. · 19/12/2011 10:00

Katie
Sorry to hear that. Do you want me AF to go around and knock some heads together. I will hold her coat.

Have emailed Sue about a blog post and linked to this thread so she can see what is planned in the coming weeks. Was thinking it might be an idea to have a blog planning thread separate to this one, so that we can better coordinate the posts. Will start one on BN, it is a bit quieter there.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 10:04

OO0er, katie, what the hell has been happening ? Did I miss summat ?

Pleeeeease don't go anywhere. Hide whatever thread(s) it is and report and block any abusive pm's. Drop MNHQ a line if you think it will help.

I have had a couple of unwelcome invaders into my pm box. It's not nice.

Hope you are ok x

MmeLindor. · 19/12/2011 10:06

Knotty
Have changed the date of the blog post so that it shows up at the top of the blog.

That is a bit of a pain, that the posts keep their original date, and not shown as published on the day that you put them live.

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 10:07

Grin MmeL. I've said my bit and asked MNHQ to have a look because there's potential for libel because I'm out in RL. I think that's enough drama (and far too much over-reaction from me).

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 10:11

It's not PMs. The only funny thing in my inbox has been the Enid Blyton troll. No, this one will stand for all eternity in AIBU. I did hide the thread accidentally and when I unhid found a six point assassination. I just feel sick because it's my professional reputation and I'm trying to get work at the moment

Good news about the Sue blog.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 10:13

Will MnHQ not pull the thread ?

They are usually pretty good about getting rid of stuff that can impinge on someone's RL.

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 10:21

I don't think they will and I'm not sure they should. I have been told I've given incorrect advice about an employment issue. I haven't given any advice. It was an AIBU thread and not even my own. I was trying to help the OP who didn't seem aware of a potential issue she had and I have been hauled over the coals. I actually feel physically sick.

Hullygully · 19/12/2011 10:34

Breathe. Always remember there are a whole load of cunts out there, but more importantly there's us here and a whole load of other nice people. Am cleaning up an utterly trashed house, but shall retrun to the fray anon.

Froth On.

MmeLindor. · 19/12/2011 10:36

Don't panic, Katie. Wait till you see what MNHQ say. Perhaps the OP will be happy to have the thread pulled.

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 10:56

Thanks for being so nice. And apologies for hijack. I am a bit Blush because I'm sure I'm over-reacting but it's really got to me.

The awful thing is that I'm trying to get work at the moment with the company that do MN family friendly. If my professional reputation is damaged that could be in jeopardy. Even if they withdraw my posts (which I'd like to leave stand because they are the evidence for what I did actually say and when) the posts with my comments taken out of context and twisted will still be there. Pulling the whole thread does not feel right either.

Sorry, I'm not supposed to be here. I'm supposed to be working.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 12:55

katie, I understand you feeling sick

but it will be tomorrow's chip wrapper, as they say

try to let it go, I doubt anyone else (apart from the loon) is remotely interested in an AIBU thread where someone shoots their mouth off

it's par for the course, innit

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 12:57

why do I keep calling you katie ? Xmas Hmm

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 13:17

I wish AF. Every time I think it's stopped along comes someone else to twist the knife.

I usually post as Katie. That's probably why.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 13:20

oh, I'm going crackers Xmas Smile

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2011 13:20

the thread is still active ?

eww, why hasn't it died ? What is wrong with some people ?

KatieMistletoe · 19/12/2011 13:24

I wish I knew. I've been on here for 3 years and this is the first time I've actually been properly upset. I feel like such an idiot and I am NEVER posting employment help again.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 19/12/2011 13:36

Hug for you Katie. Some proper bloody loons on MN. But lovely people too x
Going to read the remploy link now.

TuftyFinch · 19/12/2011 13:40

Just popping in: off to see Arthur Christmas.

Katie, I'm sorry you're having a hard time, when it impacts on RL and your job that's crap. I think we all forget the stuff we write isn't always anonymous and benign. It also can't be taken back, the moving finger writes..

Mme Lindor, I would do a blog post but I work in FE and don't know that I'll be able to contribute in any helpful way to the 12 days of Christmas. I'm also a bit shit at writing-despite having been a journalist!
