Hi,

I am roman catholic and want to baptis my 2 month old baby in august.

I have two godmothers which are christian orthodox. Now by reading internet i have found out that other baptised christians cannot be godparents unless another one is catholic!

I chose those two people because I know them for many years, I can trust them, they are religious and do sometimes attend mass.

Now I found out I cannot use them ((((.

Does the priest have discrection in allowing baptised christians to be godmothers at catholic baptism or is it an absolute no no no. ??

Does anyone know which forms i have to fill in? Have appointment with priest next monday!

thanks...

Do (or your dp) really not have any RC friends, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts? Even if they live overseas and could not attend your dc baptism?

I think that you are absolutley right to want to have your non-Catholic friends, who are clearly committed Christians as God Parents, but find it hard to understand why you are finding the requirement to also have a RC godparent so hard to comply with.

You said in an earlier post that you attend another church close to work (I think) Are you friends with any of the parishioners there?

I would hate to know that I was not telling the truth at an event as important as my child's baptism. This is your dc's first formal entry into the Catholic faith - I would want that to be an honest and joyful occasion, not to start off with a lie.

Insertexpletive,

Thank you for your nice and friendly way to put your opinion accross. You really have made me think harder again. As said earlier I will go to the priest and discuss it again. Whatever he says after me explaining the situation I will follow.

I go to Westminster Cathedral. Unfortunatly there are always different people there.

thanks again.
