two people I know have talked about it (I have googled it too) and they refer to it when talking about my ds. he is alarmingly bright and perceptive but does that put him in a different category? Confused!!

I despair when I read this kind of stuff.
Have people no critical faculties at all?
I blame the teachers.

No really- if we learnt to think a bit more critically, apply common sense and had a better understanding of science (in this case biology) this stuff would never get off the ground.
I know, I'm a sad, soul-less sceptic.

HURRAH!

another one to join my campaign for a whole new section on MN for indigos.

(see site stuff from a few weeks ago!)
you lot are just envious because you are not parents of a new breed.

seeker · 24/06/2009 18:48

Indigos are old hat - it's Crystal children we all have now. Keep up, you lot!

EccentricaGallumbits · 24/06/2009 18:55

Nah. My children indigos were born towards the end of the last millenium - making them Indigos. They're also not nice enough to be crystals. Just special.

I have had indigo child.
She chewed the end off a felt tip and spread it

Remotew · 24/06/2009 19:02

lol at this thread. I know people who do believe all this stuff.

However, I watched a programme on TV a few years ago about evolution of the human brain. It was about intelligence, no mention of aura's and spirituality and it did say that there are a certain percentage of the recent population born with a higher intelligence gene. These people are supposed to lead us mere mortals onto greater heights.

Cannot remember the name of the programme. Did anyone else see it?

I think mine are Mud children.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 24/06/2009 19:09

I have a feral indigo child. She goes a very pleasing shade of indigo when thwarted.

lol @bronze

Is it crystal rather than indigo now, then? I really must try and keep up...

I have deliberately stayed away from all that as I am a bit mad of a hippy and struggle enough with my weird unique dd as it is.

She talked and walked stupidly early, talked about past lives from the age of 2 (much to the of dh who is not in the least bit woo) and just seemed to know stuff already, iykwim. Never had to teach her not to hit / to play nice / be careful of friends' babies, she knew already. She would stare at other kids being normal misbehaving and just be like 'what the heck is wrong with you?!'

I know how it sounds. She's my odd little girl and I love her though.

I did read an account of a properly set-up experiment to look at the special qualities and talents of indigo children.....and guess what? Thay had none!

Being bright, a great communicator, perceptive, sensitive and imaginative is special in it's own right, no need to go all mystic about it!

But maybe I have read too much Ben Goldacre, or am in denial. Whe DS was 3 (and had been a fluent talker with an enormous vocab since hewas 18m) we talked about a father's day card for DP. 'and what about a card for my other father?' quoth DS.
' what 'other father'?'
'do you remember when I was on your tumy? One day a blue light shone out from your tummy. That was my other father from space visiting me before I was born!'.
Now his special talent is to spend hours drawing intricate spaceships and alien. Like every single one of his 8 yo friends.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/04/2010 11:08

What a crock of shit.

It is just an invention by folk who earnestly want to believe that their (bog standard) child is summat special.

No134 · 12/04/2010 11:08

Special? Yup. Specially annoying.

EldritchCleavage · 12/04/2010 15:04

Oooh, Midwych Cuckoos, anyone?

OrmRenewed · 12/04/2010 15:07

Yes.

It is a load of old bull.

Anyway indigo is so last season. Crystal children are the new black.
