two people I know have talked about it (I have googled it too) and they refer to it when talking about my ds. he is alarmingly bright and perceptive but does that put him in a different category? Confused!!

All I can say is that it is the mumspeak that my friends and I use when our DC show us up in public.

ie, "Sorry about DD going all indigo in the restaurant"

Not what you asked though. I'll get me coat...

cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:16

AA - lol! No I am completely on the fence about it. I actually despise hte idea that any child should be categorized and frequently remind friends and family and anyone else who makes sweeping statements about either of my lo's that "he/she is a million different children in one day". the blanket statements e.g. "he is naughty/she is sensitive" etc., drive me up the wall!

Of course it is all bollocks. Do you really need to ask?

AnarchyAunt · 22/06/2009 20:19

This may clear it up for you

Or it may not

newgirl · 22/06/2009 20:20

i only know one boy who's mum says he is indigo. he is a lovely kid i really like him but i think his personality and behaviour is more a result of his very liberal parents! from a very early age he was allowed to stay up late etc and i reckon he just got tired a lot!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 22/06/2009 20:20

It's a term used to describe the next generation, those that are more perceptive/intelligent..., if you think about evolution, we slowly evolved from monkeys, indigo children are the next step up from us. There's alot of info on the web about this. Who know's. The definition (I can't be bothered to find it, sorry), can be any child though.

Yurtgirl · 22/06/2009 20:22

I read AnarchyAunts link a few days ago, well skim read it and swiftly moved on

Tis a load of gibberish imho

JackBauer · 22/06/2009 20:22

A little bit, and yes.
(in response to thread title)

it means he is a special child with special abilities sent to show us the way.
I am not sure where the way leads, maybe to your secret stash of sweets cupboard

cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:23

someone has asked me if she can do a case study on my ds as she is doing some course or another. teh people who believe it are really convinced! Thing is, ds is v bright and an excellent communicator so he does kind of stand out (shit I sound unbearable , I really dont mean to.) But why do they have to put him in a box? does it mean they don't have to acknowledge that he is just a smart child? or is htere something in it? I dunno!

There were a few threads on this recently. It's all bollocks of the first order.

cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:25

a mixed bag of responses here! I will read the link - thankyou

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2009 20:25

no it's deadly serious

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/06/2009 20:27

I just had a look at the link - is it a joke?

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 22/06/2009 20:27

It is deadly serious though, it also smacks of aspergers

19fran76 · 22/06/2009 20:28

It's a complete crock of shite. Just another way to play the 'my childs more special than yours' game. I know someone who believes their child is Indigo. He has behavioural difficulties that would be better served by some firm yet loving boundaries IMHO.

hocuspontas · 22/06/2009 20:28

It's a load of cobblers and that's final.

hobbgoblin · 22/06/2009 20:28

I think I was an Indigo child now I'm more of an anarchist and narcissist. My parents were too blind to see it. Fools.

cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:29

Just read te thread - effin' 'ell. What a load of codswallop! Lovely if you can believe but not my cup of tea. The thing is a close friend of mine believes it and I kind of got sucked in - I shall have to tell her othewise!

OP posts:
Ripeberry · 22/06/2009 20:29

All i can think of is 'Village of the Damned'
That's a scary film

cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:32

Just an excuse for parents of badly behaved lo's! Mine is not any more badly behaved than any other two year old!

OP posts:
cruisemum1 · 22/06/2009 20:34

thanks girls! that's cleared that one up then - my ds is quite obviously a child genius then

OP posts:
TheFallenMadonna · 22/06/2009 20:34

Evolution ? What, they're like a new species? No.

onagar · 22/06/2009 20:55

The 'next generation' might not be more perceptive/intelligent. They might have one extra long and thin index finger so as to be better suited to txting on small mobile phones.

Anyway, the idea that all over the place people will start having superior children doesn't really fit with how it works.

newgirl · 22/06/2009 20:58

19fran - thats it with my friend - some firm and loving boundaries i think would make him a happier calmer kid

of course could never say that in rl

1Maya2 · 23/06/2009 21:42

Just googled indigo children and it sounds like that Heroes programme,
