Dear God, if you exist and I think you do, please help my friend tonight

This is diffucult and not something i would ever have seen myself doing, but please can anyone who reads this say a prayer for my friend who is tonight fighting for her life in hospital.
She was admitted 5 days ago with what seemed like a bad flu virus and her condition has worsened and she is not responding to any treatments. Her family are gathered tonight at the hospital.
She is in her late 30s, she and her DH have two DC. We grew up together and i just can't believe this is happening. My mum is with her mum as she cannot face the situation at the hospital. 10 days ago we were all at a Christmas party for all our the children, why is this happening?
I am clutching at straws here I know, but perhaps the power of collective prayer will prevail.

love and prayers to you all.x

Sincere thank you to everyone who has had my friend and her family in their thoughts and prayers since I first posted. Sadly my friend passed away last night. Her family were with her.
I feel so so sorry for her DH and children and siblings to whom she was really close. Her mum appears to be not accepting this at all. My own mum is still with her mum.
Over the past week there were brief periods of hope and then there would be another set back. It appears that she failed to respond to any of the antibiotics, and the infection overcame her, her major organs failed too.
I am so heartbroken for her darling children and for her dear self, she deserved to see them grow up. God this is unreal to me.
I apologise for not updating you all, it has been a rollercoaster of emotion this week but thank you all for your kind and heartfelt wishes and prayers.

So really sorry to read your post.My thoughts are with you and your friends family at this very difficult time

Portofino · 06/01/2009 21:21

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this! And just so horrible and such a waste for someone so young to go so suddenly! My thoughts and prayers are with her family and yours.

I for one will be giving my special people an extra hug tonight. We all moan about the credit crunch and lots of trivial stuff, but at the end of the day it doesn't seem very important compared to a family being faced with this.

ClarissimoUsedToBePeachy · 06/01/2009 21:24

I'm so sorry, such a tragedy.

ARAG · 06/01/2009 21:25

treedelivery · 06/01/2009 22:35

Good God, how awful. It's almost unbelievable that an infection can just do this to a healthy woman.

All prayers for her children. I can't believe it.

shabster · 06/01/2009 22:38

So deeply sorry for your dear friend and her family. Also my thoughts going out to you and your family. I know it seems a pathetic gesture but I am lighting a candle now in respect for your friend. May you all be able to find some peace somewhere. Words are inadequate. xxxx

tribpot · 07/01/2009 07:19

MarmadukeScarlet · 07/01/2009 09:41

I am so sorry, my thoughts are with all of you - her poor darling DC x

mamadiva · 07/01/2009 09:57

Weeteeny- I have been lurking on this thread not knowing what to say under such tragic circumstances, now after hearing that your friend has sadly passed away I felt unable to 'pass by without stopping', I do so hope that somehow all of those affected by the loss of your friend manage to get by okay.

It puts everything into perspective as someone else said everyone is so caught up with the 'credit crunch' when there are famillies around going through much, much worse

I am not a religious person but in times like this I tend to wish/believe there is a higher power which takes care of those we hav loved and lost.

My thoughts are with all of you regards to yourself and others involved in this tragedy, those poor DC's are especially in my thought but sounds like they will get the support they need from family/friends nothing can substitute a mothers love but those around can only help ease the pain

RIP to your friend xxx
