I don't know why but i have a strong desire to go to church. I have never been to church for anything other then weddings and christening before and midnight mass on christmas eve a couple of times.
So i am unsure of what happens and where i go, what i do.
I have 2DD aged 2 and 4 can they come with me?
Any advice on this matter would be very much appreciated.

that is the one? Just wandered what the whole Lutheran meant. Think it may be a little too much to begin with will stick to the church of England.

Hi again 2beautifulgirls. I am in a church in the New Frontiers family. They tend to be quite charismatic and bible-based, and very family oriented. The link for the New Frontiers church in Coventry is www.jubileechurchcoventry.org/

Just a quick look on there shows that there is a creche for under 3s and a 'shining stars' group for your 4 year old.

They tend to have midweek small groups as well as church. I have one in my home town (I am in Southampton) and I wouldn't be without it, but they are optional.

Whatever you decide, the key is to find a church who are going to love you and your family.

thanks Lou031205 for the link, i do like the look and feel of the frontiers family. However the church is a little bit far away from me.
I have called the number on the leaflet and spoke to the Reverend, he was very friendly and welcoming. Told me that they have a family corner in the church for my 2 year old to play, and i can sit near and my 4 year old can join the workshop or the play corner.
i have just looked online and they also do an alpha copurse there so will ask about that on sunday.
Feeling a lot more positive and confident about attending now.
The church i will be attending on sunday is the one i was actually christened in.
The reverend said that there are usually 100 people attending on a sunday of all ages.

One more question how long does the service usually last? is there a dress code?

Service would be in the region of about an hour. Dress code:- Just don't go in a bikini .Just think of it as being with your family, you will be loved and cared for and they will be so pleased to have you.

I'm glad you are sorted! Length of service varies. Ours is 90 minutes followed by coffee.

Best of luck - I take my 2 year old to church on a Sunday (Unitarian). I had to do a bit of 'church shopping' to find somewhere I was comfortable with. Now it's part of our routine, DS enjoys it (he associates it with biscuits after the service but also the service includes a children's story, which he loves, and there's a creche with lots of toys.) I find that it makes me happier and more fulfilled spiritually, plus I've made friends with other young mums there, who are on my wavelength. The Reverend is lovely and always says how glad he is to have us in the congregation - regardless of the amount of noise, mess and biscuit crumbs that follow in our wake! Plus DH enjoys going off to practise his golf while we go to church so I always get thanked for going! DH believes in God, but he isn't much of a 'joiner'. I never used to be, but personally I find there's so much emphasis on material things all week long, it's nice to have one morning a week which is devoted to... well, to my soul, if that doesn't sound too pretentious!

There's no dress code just be yourself, don't have to deck yourself out in a particularly "churchy" way or anything. Let us know how you get on.
