Quick help with adult C of E confirmation dress please

I recently picked this up and love it, it’s my colours, fits beautifully, and no cleavage, but it has gold thread running through it- is that a no for confirmation? It’s not quite party-party dress but still I’m not sure. Appreciate a lot of people won’t like it, and that’s fine, my question is solely about the gold thread.

Looks lovely. Why would a gold thread be a problem?
My DCs were confirmed two years ago - but as preteens. DS wore a long sleeved polo and chinos and DD wore a white sweater dress as the church is cold!

Lovely autumn colours. Will be perfect maybe with a chunky cardi or coatigan if the church will be chilly.

(And if you are worried that everyone else dresses more modestly for church... Just turn up to a baptism of a non-regular church-goer baby. All the adult and teen guests dress like they are going to a nightclub in Newcastle. Best shirts, no jackets for the men, except if older when they will wear a jacket. Micro minis and towering heels for the women and girls, even sometimes for the baby's granny).

It has occurred to me that perhaps you are a guest - not a confirmand - the dress is lovely either way.

Towering heels + old church floor not a good combination, I would be flat on my face! I’m not a guest, but I’ve not been a guest so don’t know what to expect with regards to clothes. There was a throwaway comment at the end of the last class about smart-casual, and that’s was it.

There’s no rule about gold thread, is there? It’s a special occasion so feel free to dress up. That dress looks perfect btw. Enjoy your confirmation. I loved mine!

I think that's more so the men don't feel the need to buy a suit! Most women and girls are happy of an excuse to buy a dress.

years ago things were different but as long as its clean and tidy I do not think it matters these days. i was confirmed in Gloucester Cathedral by the Bishop i wore a tidy dress and jacket think what you would wear for a special lunch type of thing

Have a look at the bishop's rigout when they rock up; it's a festive service, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to spot a few touches of gold thread in their apparel!
A few discreet threads running through the fabric of your dress will pale by comparison.

When my two were confirmed, it was after many years of struggle and being "constructively dismissed" from two churches and finally finding one that would accept my DCs for who they are.
It's a very joyous occasion and we were so pleased to be finally parents of two (fairly) grown up church members.

I’m pretty sure God won’t care one bit what you wear. But anyway that dress would surely satisfy the most judgemental of people! It looks lovely.

It's fine. When I got confirmed over 40 years ago there was a 17 year old wearing a fitted leopard skin patterned dress with a deep v neck. No one batted an eyelid, apart from us 11 year olds all in demure white.

Another who is a bit confused by the question.

Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
Some people feel it is more of an occasion if they wear something nice / dress up a bit, others just wear their everyday Church clothes - which might well be jeans or might well be a dress.

Thank you everyone for replying. I think the idea that it was too sparkly and not serious enough popped into my head, and then I just spiralled into overthinking. I feel much happier having been told multiple times that it’s ok 😁
