Has anyone experienced a warning or premonition that later proved accurate?

Has anyone ever received a warning from spirit... or however you would see fit to describe it or understand it? A voice warning you, a spirit or something else appearing to show you something or tell you something? A dream that came true and was a type of warning or premonition?

I will describe what happened to me back in early 2025. I would see this chap around town and he'd be in the pub I used to go to an awful lot last year. I really liked him and and started saying hi to him if I saw him, and he'd say hi back. For the life of me, despite being a 35 year old woman, I couldn't get the nerve up right away to ask him out.

There was this one morning I was out in town and he walked past but hadn't seen me. I was just about to go into the chemist and a male voice shouted in my ear "He's a PAEDOPHILE". I was freaked out, nobody around, it was definitely shouted into my ear.

When I got back home, my flatmate, who is very spiritual, said it's definitely a warning... Well around two months later I ask him out and on the first date he's leering at a couple of teenagers in the pub. Of course I wrote it off as they had nice hair, maybe he was admiring that.... or just, they looked pretty, he's a man right...

A few months down the line and I find out he's following teenagers on Facebook. I never found anything that would have made me think I needed to report him in any way, but needless to say I ended it, and I often wonder, where did that voice come from?

Why the hell would you ask him out after that very obvious warning?

BrightMeteorite · 24/09/2026 21:47

Because I liked him so much, I allowed my rational brain to talk myself out of what had happened.

Yes I have. Voices rarely and if iminent danger, mostly its dreams.

Occasionally its a vibe, once I got it off a second hand car I was test driving.

I've learned to listen to it. I do not see lottery numbers, I do not get warnings of bad stuff happening to other people only what affects me. Its not always crystal clear. There's symbolism to some extent.

Hard to describe but its about as clear as listening to a news broadcast on a slightly mistuned radio, I get snippets and the overall gist.

I don't tell people IRL because they would disbelieve me, diagnose me, burn me as a witch etc.

I remember saying to my mum that I had heard on the news that the iraq war would end on x date. She said she hadn't heard anything, and so we looked into it and couldn't find any proof. I vividly remembered a report about it. Anyway we decided I dreamt it. But some weeks later, that exact date that I had dreamt turned out to be the date that they captured saddam hussain.

Echobelly · 24/09/2026 21:54

Not quite, but after my A-levels I went and stayed with some friends in a holiday cottage, and one night when everyone was going to the pub, I had a dreadful headache and stayed in. And as they left I had this really strong feeling out of nowhere that I'd be glad I didn't go with them.

At nearly midnight I heard them come in and one of my friends sobbing - on the way home some locals had decided to basically chase my friends' car down country lanes with their car and generally intimidate them and force them to drive dangerously, which was obviously really frightening and upsetting.

Yes, 1987, walking home from sixth form.
Dark, rainy, country lane.
On my own as I'd missed the bus after staying late in an art class.
I had a premonition that a white van would stop and had a vision of me fighting the driver off as he dragged me in.
I had already quickened my pace, when sure enough a white van pulled into the curb next to me and the driver was shouting out of the open passenger window, asking me if I wanted a lift.
I ran faster than I've ever ran to catch up with a group of male students (rugby practice lads) further ahead of me.
I think my guardian angel was with me that day.

I have also twice braked hard when driving before incidents happened, once a dog ran into the road and once a car drifted into my lane.

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 24/09/2026 22:03

I don’t think so but I’ve had times when I’ve thought I’ve heard someone shout my name really loudly. When it’s been quiet and no one else around.

BlettingMyMedlars · 24/09/2026 22:11

So — he wasn’t a paedophile. You noticed him staring at teenagers who were old enough to be in a pub unchallenged and then found he followed some other teenagers on social media. None of that meets any kind of definition of paedophilia. But rather than deciding the voice was wrong, you’re asking other people if they’ve also experienced correct premonitions?

White van one is terrifying. I believe that in psychology there’s something called suggestibility. Could the darkness and eerie location have created a strong general sense of foreboding, which your brain processed as a specific narrative - the sudden sense of aloneness and general bad reputation of white van men in years gone by (with apologies to the nice ones) may have combined powerfully to emerge as a specific ‘premonition’. The white van actually pulling up could’ve then been coincidence (a spooky one at that!). Of course I could be entirely wrong and it was a genuine premonition!

The braking ones are likely your subconscious seeing something before you’re aware you’ve seen it, e.g. something moving erratically in the corner of your eye.

Yes I've had this my entire life. So have a lot of women in my family. I always listen to it and it's always helped me avoid danger.

I don't tell anyone because they'd think I was mental, but intuition/whatever you want to call it definitely exists.

Pallisers · 24/09/2026 22:24

He wasn't a paedophile. He was a sleaze who sleazed on teenagers. So the voice was wrong. But you ignored it anyway - and continued ignoring all the red flags. i'd concentrate on figuring out why you did this.

I believe we notice things subconsciously so we get a warning that is really just our mind noticing things that are off but that can feel like a premonition or omen because we haven't broken down all the little things that made us feel the premonition. The OP probably noticed this guy being a bit of a sleazebag but didn't consciously clock it. her subconscious decided to warn her - all for nought.

LoisPrice · 24/09/2026 22:30

I have had dreams about people and then seen their family and friends within 48 hours and found out they’ve died. This has happened to me 3 times

FrangipaniBlue · 24/09/2026 22:42

I once woke up one morning with an awful overwhelming sense of dread. I’ve never experienced anything like it before or since and for some reason all I could think about was one particular childhood friend.

I sent them a breezy “hi how are you? Just checking in” type message but I received no reply and it went unread, which was really unusual.

I remember telling my MIL that I was worried about my friend but didn’t know why and that night I barely slept. The feeling of dread just wouldn’t go away.

The next day my friend got in touch to let me know that the day before their father had committed suicide.

I’ve never told them that story and it gives me the chills/makes me feel a bit ill just thinking about it.

I sincerely hope that nothing like that ever happens to me again.

EDIT - the bit I missed was that the feeling of dread wasn’t that something had happened to my friend, it was definitely more that something bad had happened and they “needed” me.

jksiiuidjuf · 24/09/2026 22:48

When I was a child I was having a shower and I just got this instant flash in my head “Floppy is dead” (our rabbit). Sure enough I went to check on him and he was. He wasn’t even very old.

PurpleLovecats · 24/09/2026 22:51

My dad did.

Years ago my parents went to the USA for a holiday. I was about 16. At the same time I went away to Austria with a friend and her family for a sports holiday.

On my parents’ last night, my dad woke suddenly after dreaming I was drowning and could not breathe. He was so upset he woke my mum. Strange as he is the calmest and most rational person ever.

They flew home and met me at Heathrow a few days later. Out I walked with black eyes and a massive bruise on the side of my face as well as multiple other bruises.

I nearly died in a white water rafting accident. The boat capsized, I hit my head on a rock and was temporarily unconscious. I came round and God knows how, I remembered to hug my legs. Point them downstream and try to remain afloat. Somebody rescued me.

When we worked it out, my dad’s dream was the same time.

Spooky!

FancyKitten · 24/09/2026 22:52

I woke in the middle of the night & sat bolt upright. I knew my sister was in trouble. Next thing the phone rang, in my parents room. It was a local hospital saying my sister had been attacked on her night out in town.

Defrostedmariahcarey · 24/09/2026 22:58

Yes.
the night before my mom got her biopsy results I dreamed my Nan, grandad and uncle were stood at the side of my bed and told me it was breast cancer. I’ve never met my Nan and grandad but knew it was them. I felt oddly calm and reassured.

a year later my mom had a bone scan due to pain. Night before the results I dreamed my uncle as by my
bed again and said don’t worry, it’s arthritis.

both came true the next day. No one will ever be able to convince me they didn’t visit me during the hardest periods of my life.

I have learned as I’ve got older to listen to my gut, if a vibe is off I am usually right. I think I’m a good judge of character and occasionally I have AWFUL feelings about someone (usually men) that tell me to stay well away

Yeah, I stopped telling people about mine too. It's always a mistake. I have experiences similar to what you describe though.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 24/09/2026 23:53

Not a premonition but similar. We visited Westminster abbey years ago. A relative was killed in the 2nd WW very bravely he gave his life for others.

In the abbey is a huge book with hand written the name of every soldier lost in the war. It’s a huge book hundreds of pages and kept under a glass case. When we visited the book was open at the exact page with my great uncles name on.

I went with late dp to see a fortune teller at the seaside for a laugh, she sat us down & the first thing she said to dp was you have got an illness, I can take it away from you for now but I can't keep it away forever, if you don't change your ways you won't live a long life. Then she told me that I would be having a new car soon & it would be gold coloured, she also told me that I would be ill, need a few operations but I would get better, she also said she could see a little girl in the clouds, I would never get to hold her but she would watch over me forever. She told dp that he had a talent that he was wasting, he had been so good at it but had never fulfilled his potential, only hard work would help him reach his goal otherwise all his efforts would be wasted. We just laughed it off when we left & never thought anything more about it, 2 days later I got a letter saying my DLA was being stopped, my ex sil had written to the DWP saying I was fraudulently claiming, my mobility car was taken off me, my parents went to the car sales pitch near home & got me a cheap runabout to keep me mobile, I never saw it until I went to collect it, it was a gold Ford Focus. What dp didn't know was that I was pregnant, I hadn't plucked up courage to tell him as his ex had recently given birth to their daughter, she had split from him as soon as she got pregnant. One morning I woke up in agony, I somehow managed to drive back to my parents where ds & I were staying as we were homeless after leaving exh & my mum took one look at me & said I needed to go to hospital, I was diagnosed with a pelvic infection, put on strong antibiotics & sent home, I hadn't told her I was pregnant either because I knew she would have gone mad, I knew I would have to tell her sooner or later as I was 12 weeks. I didn't get any better & went to the doctors who sent me for a scan, by this time I was 16 weeks, I went for the scan where they found an ovarian cyst & my baby had no heartbeat, I was referred to a consultant as there was a question if the cyst had twisted, to get things done quickly I was sent to a private hospital where I had a laparoscopy & a D & C to remove my baby, I was diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease & despite more medication the pain didn't go away, a month later I had another laparoscopy, the consultant was very apologetic & told me it was in fact endometriosis. Dp & I had split up for a few months & when we got back together he was drinking heavily, I managed to get him playing snooker again & practicing & he managed a year later to get back on the pro tour, he only managed to play in a few tournaments when he broke his cue arm very badly in a career ending accident, his drinking was getting out of hand again & 6 months later he was diagnosed with end stage liver disease & died 4 months later age 34. Everything the fortune teller told us came true, it was so spooky, I'd never believed anything like that, we had just gone for a laugh.

Coco852 · 25/09/2026 00:31

Yes, can’t explain it even now. I was at uni away from my home city where my boyfriend was. No mobile phones. I called my boyfriend’s home sobbing to his mother that I thought something happened to him. She said he was in a car accident (thankfully minor injuries).

JudyTeeny · 25/09/2026 00:38

I had a cancer scare a few years ago. I was convinced that I was going to get bad news as everything pointed that way. One morning I was just sitting reading and my mind was on a forthcoming hospital appointment. I heard a male voice say You're alright. I looked round for who had spoken but I was alone. No TV or radio on, no smart speaker, doors and windows closed. I know I heard it but I don't know who it was. As I heard the voice I felt as though something warm came over me and my worry decreased. At my appointment I was told that all my tests showed nothing serious.

KHarbs · 25/09/2026 00:52

I have had a few, people I haven’t seen in over 20 years and I think about them, or vividly dream about them and the next 24 hours I see them at my work, or around my city. About 10 years ago I was a shift lead in a restaurant, I dreamt that this one woman had called in sick, as she had been in a car accident and was too shaken to come in. This woman had never called in sick in the whole 5 years I had worked with her, but the next morning at 11am she rang to tell me she wouldn’t be in for her shift later, I did think about my dream but she said she had the flu so I didn’t think much of it, until about 2 hours later when I heard of a car pile up which I would have been in if I didn’t stay on later trying to sort her shift cover out.

patooties · 25/09/2026 01:33

A very close friend died- I had the call and was tasked with calling our friends. One pal said ‘ah, I knew there was bad news coming last night, thought it was my dad’. Her husband backs this up. She’d said to him before bed there’d be something awful soon.

they are not woo - her dad is still alive. She’d had seen ‘a shadow’ and felt it was a bad omen.

lljkk · 25/09/2026 02:06

I've had lots of "bad feelings" that turned out to be pointless worry and anxiety, unfounded fears.
