Atheists desecrate country church

peasporridge · 19/04/2025 08:12

The perpetrators drew vulgar graffiti on the wall of the church an also wrote "God is a lie".
They also desecrated about 40 gravestones.

This is particularly distressing because a wedding is scheduled today (Easter Saturday)

This clearly demonstrates that Christianity is under threat.from the secular lobby.

"Christians are not victims of persecution in the UK."

I beg to differ.

Muslims are allowed to pray in the streets yet Christians get arrested.https://adfinternational.org/en-gb/news/silent-prayer-arrest-payout

If Muslims tried to pray there then they too would be arrested.

You are allowed to do certain things in certain areas and that woman has several times put herself outside an abortion clinic to provoke a reaction.

Also the image that usually accompanies that phrase is actually Muslims eating in the street not praying.

Was it all cleaned up in time for the wedding?

No, apparently they put plants in front of it for the photos.

They will have to take advice on specialist cleaning as the church is a listed building.

Don’t get your info off of X. Its not reliable.

Also, though you seem not to know it, Christian prayers and invocations are done in public at the start of events, institutional dedications, rallies, and protests all the time. No one is arrested for it.

northwestgirl · 21/04/2025 13:37

its the blocking the road that's the issue then, not the praying

hth

CurlewKate · 21/04/2025 13:56

@peasporridgeI’m afraid that X is not a reliable source any more, if it ever was. But in any case, I don’t think the Muslim prayers were breaking any laws-however perfornative and annoying they might have been. The woman outside the abortion clinic was. There is an exclusion zone around such places.

Obviously the police got that wrong, because she successfully sued the police for wrongful arrest.

@peasporridgeMy understanding was that there was something wrong with the process, rather than wrongful arrest.

Well, I can't comment on that.

Another one they got wrong

The abuse Miss Hatun Tash suffered was incredible. And yet she was the one arrested ..twice! 🤔
Inexcusable.

northwestgirl · 21/04/2025 15:32

I don't understand OP are you seriously objecting to people praying in public?

yes, people should be dealt with fairly at speakers corner and we know of several cases where this hasn't happened

as a thought experiment, what would you say about someone who heckled and argued with a person who was denouncing Islam?
and one who was denouncing Christianity?

Yes, shocking. At least, IIRC they caught and imprisoned a man who was plotting to murder her. The man who attacked her in public was never identified.

FFS I am a life long atheist. How dare you say it’s the fault of atheists. I give no fucks about the building in which you want to worship your imaginary friend.

I imagine it’s someone local with a grudge that is part of your community.

And there we have it

To be fair, instantly assuming that this attack was down to organised atheist persecution of Christianity was a hell of a reach and actually pretty damn offensive in and of itself.

However, I do take issue with the 'imaginary friend' brand of atheism - it's rude and crude. @Flumperina, do better. You're giving atheism a bad name.

Hmm. I think it’s not as bad as a lot of the “atheists have no moral compass” brand of Christianity, frankly….

I 100% agree with you on this. But for some reason it's apprently OK to say this to atheists, and we're not then allowed to say that believers are at times extremely arrogant.

northwestgirl · 21/04/2025 20:03

both these are bad, yet as a humanist I don't feel at all troubled by people saying I have no moral compass, its as if someone said I'd caused it to rain today

Cars and property in the area around the church sprayed with similar graffiti on Easter Sunday. Adding further weight to the perpetrators being stupid, bored teenagers.

Oh dear, if it’s a pattern developing that’s going to be even more difficult. I hope the police catch the perpetrators soon and they are properly dealt with 🙏🏻

Let's hope they get caught on CCTV, dashcams and Ring doorbells.
