For those that know the grace of God

Please pray for the soul of my beloved best friend and cousin who committed suicide yesterday.

And if you don't mind please pray for me. My mind is a mess and my heart is completely broken.

I’m so sorry, It’s a horrible thing to come to terms with.
Just focus on the happy times you had together. It was their life and they chose the path.

This is something that is causing me great distress. I understand suicide is a mortal sin yet I also know God is merciful and understanding. I believe He knows my cousins heart. To imagine him in the Lord's arms brings me to tears. I pray for his soul.

Was your cousin a Christian too @MaterDei?

I don't believe there are categories of sin - all sins can be forgiven (except potentially in the case of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). God's love, grace and mercy knows no bounds, try not to worry. X

He was born into a Catholic family but he was not practising, no. We often spoke of God and had many philosophical debates. He was a spiritual person and respected my beliefs. I miss him so much. 😔 I know he would appreciate people praying for him. I know he would appreciate good thoughts and wishes. He was the sweetest and most sensitive soul. Despite his own lack of faith, he was a daily physical reminder to me of God's greatness. I loved, and still love the very bones of him.

Thank you for this. I have spent some time in church this morning saying this on repeat:

I am feeling God is with me and I am so grateful. I feel heartbroken. I can't think beyond getting through the end of the day. Reading these posts is comforting though. God is good. God is good....I am so sad but strengthened by my belief that God can hear my prayers and he will never leave my side. X

I'm very sorry for your loss, and pray to God to give you the strength you need at this time.

Don't get hung up with the mortal sin bit. We should not judge, and only God will know your cousins heart. Remember, the Catholic Church teaches that to be a mortal sin, you must have full knowledge, give full consent and be a grave matter. I would find it difficult to believe that someone undergoing such mental anguish and turmoil to get to the point of taking your own life could have full consent over their inner thoughts and mental health.

Remember that God "desires all people to be saved" Timothy 2:4 .

I pray you cousin can experience inner peace now, in the presence of God.

I am so sorry for your loss, I will pray the divine mercy chaplet for your friend and I will also pray for you in this time of sorrow.
'Eternal rest grant into him O Lord,
