Oh wow didn't know he was an accountant.

And yay for those of you watching Rev for the first time. Wonderful series 🥰.

LolaSmiles · 03/09/2023 20:13

Sameynamey
That's my evening scrolling ready in that thread.
The accountant career was very well burried.

PrimitivePerson · 03/09/2023 20:31

Anyone care to share the MP sock puppet accounts?

Sadly I'm inclined to agree he'll get off lightly, fading quietly into retirement.

NotEspeciallyHappyValley · 03/09/2023 21:29

The bit in Rev that struck me a lot was the first series with the evangelical church trying to take over. Where Adam describes what they do as ‘more of a show than a sacrament’. It really resonated with me as explaining why i drifted away from that form of worship.
When I went to Chorleywood in the 90s it felt more like the ‘Matt and Mike’ show - we were there to meet them, not to meet with God. Maybe that isnt the intention of many in the evangelical movement - but it’s how it felt to me.

It would take a saint not to let that level of hero worship get to you in some way

I watched the first episode of Rev today, having never seen it before. It's undoubtedly very good, but I still find things like that a little difficult to deal with following the abuse I suffered in church.

But...yeah. Church-planting evangelicals seem to wade into areas that don't need new churches, and seem to care more about poaching Christians from "dead" or "liberal" churches than they do about getting new people in through the door. It's horrible stuff.

Please would you share mike's sock accounts? Please pm me if you don't want to say publicly

kiwiandcherries · 04/09/2023 14:50

Yes, I would be interested to know too please

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 15:34

One of them is usually a variation of Isobel/isabelle. The latest photo is taken from a hairdressing magazine if you reverse search. He pretends to be a middle age women defending ‘Mike’.

The other is a wizard type, you can find them by searching for MP on Twitter and they harass anyone discussing soul survivor and MP.

I can’t remember the other one but he does tend to delete the accounts and set up new ones when people twig.

These accounts are very angry with Matt Redman too, calling him a traitor etc.

I wonder if Matt feels as if he is standing on his own with this as none of the others from the original group have spoken out have they?

EducatingArti · 04/09/2023 16:13

I have been reading some of the Isabelle posts on twitter and although they do defend Mike quite a bit I don't think they are likely to be a MP sock puppet. They also criticise women in church leadership and make a lot of " you are being very nasty so you can't be a proper Christian" type comments, which even though there are serious questions about MP, I can't see him making himself. They are too crass and not literate enough.

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 17:27

I think that’s the point though- he is trying to post as a supporter rather than him.

He made really clumsy attempts at deliberate spelling mistakes on another Isobel account in an effort to hide who he was and when someone (not me) called him out, it was deleted.
Also posting the odd comment in support of the investigation because I think he believes it throws people off course.

Just my opinion. some think it is and some don’t. Whoever it is has lifted a photo called ‘middle aged women shaggy haircuts’ and used it as their profile photo.

I used to know MP reasonably well and have always thought he dislikes women. He finds it hard to stop the sarcasm when he is angry as well.

He is still active on social media as I can see him liking photos on private accounts I follow. He doesn’t seem to want to hide away, that’s for sure.

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 17:37

Just remembered that the three accounts that I think could be MP socks are keep mentioning BPD (no idea why) and that it might be that or just Mike’s way. A bit rude, a bit sarcastic. And that nothing illegal took place, trial by media etc.

Quite irrelevant I know but I think if it’s true it gives an insight in to him and his mode of shutting people down. Throwing bible verses out, calling investigators gossips, labelling them nasty.

All deflection.

EducatingArti · 04/09/2023 17:50

Bi polar or borderline personality?

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 19:38

I guess that’s what they mean. If you click on the replies at the top of the account it brings all the posts up.

EducatingArti · 04/09/2023 20:16

I can only find "Isabella" not any of the other accounts you mention and no reference to BPD.

But I'm not good on twitter and may have got it wrong.

Sounds as if it’s a different account as this one mentions it at least three times, as does the other one.

EducatingArti · 04/09/2023 22:17

So do I just put Mike Pilovachi into the twitter search? Because doing that, I don't see any of the accounts you mention. Is my twitter broken?

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 22:43

I kind of wish I hadn’t mentioned it now to be honest. It’s distracting from the main discussion. I don’t know why you can’t see the accounts. I think MP is socking but others might disagree. Sorry I can’t help more on the Twitter stuff.

Sameynamey · 04/09/2023 22:46

I mean it’s not really that important if he is trolling Twitter, I am hoping that the journalists are going to carry on exposing what the victims have experienced and pressing for an independent investigation.

EducatingArti · 05/09/2023 07:32

I understand and totally agree with you about the investigation and the victims. It kind of is important if he is trolling though because it is other evidence of the type of person he is. Obviously you used to know him but I've only ever seen his public persona so to me, even taking the victim statements into account, the possibility of him sock puppeting is a whole other area of weird/disfunction.

This guy is combing through all the accounts, it’s so complicated I can see why it passed most people by.

LolaSmiles · 05/09/2023 17:22

I've only read part 1 and 2 of the accounts and find it confusing.

It seems like Soul 61 was mainly there to bankroll MP's trips with his internet and to obscure what happens to money.

Soul 61 only seemed to spend a few thousand on leadership development activities.

Sameynamey · 05/09/2023 21:12

I think you are right, I do wonder if he is building up to something bigger that he already knows about. I can’t work out who was in charge of soul61 now.

EducatingArti · 05/09/2023 22:15

It is all very mixed up with the same people in different roles in SS and Soul61 isn't it!

PrimitivePerson · 05/09/2023 23:13

Yet another scandal?

I just started a new thread on this, if it's relevant to you. These are the people who are responsible for enormous damage to me. Wish me luck...

Oh crikey…we are here for you @PrimitivePerson.

I have just listened to the Teenage Fundamentalist episode ‘Keep Hillsong out of our schools’. Season 2. The guest speaker makes some very interesting points about the differences between a healthy community and a cult.

The act of listening to it this morning actually gave me the push to express some safeguarding concerns in a different context (not religious). It is strange how the urge to say nothing is so powerful, even though other instincts are telling you that you need to.
