@dementedma, I've been watching the situation in Scotland unfold with increasing horror for the women up there. See you on FWR! (I'm a sporadic poster on there too, but have to give myself breaks from it for a while to spare my blood pressure). I won't spoil the thread's calming energy either; sufficce it to say I work for a capture institution whose policies have caused very real hardship for me.

'Jagged', that's a perfect word. Describes that frenetic energy (and the waste!) so accurately. Same with NYE, which for us is always a raucous get-together with friends. I love it - and them - but the peace of Solstice and Christmas Eve does it for me!

dementedma · 07/12/2022 21:05

Full moon tonight. I am so tired. How can I harness the moon energy? I am a simple hedgewitch. Can any more experienced practitioners advise?

VioletCharlotte · 07/12/2022 21:29

DementedMa** I'm tired too, I'm curled up in bed reading. The full moon energy often plays havoc with my sleep, I'm restless and have crazy dreams. Sometimes I feel manic and full of energy, which I have to channel into something - sometime magic, sometimes yoga or exercise. My advice is always to listen to your body. Medical conditions aside, if you're tired, you need to rest.

speakout · 07/12/2022 21:38

Another tired witch here. I am in bed with a tea and hot water bottle, just watching as the full moon moves over my bedroom window.
I think energies can affect us differently.
I love to moonbathe under her light- I keep my curtains open and usually sleep deeply under her light.
dementedma you can moonbathe, cleanse crystals, special objects, energise Tarot cards or make moonwater on a full moon

I hope everyone managed to have a restorative sleep despite the full moon.
It is bitterly cold here= minus 5, and snowing heavily.

OP posts:
Probablymagrat · 08/12/2022 10:40

As a newbie, I didnt realise that the full moon affected sleep. I was up a lot of the night, wandering around the house, not knowing what to do with myself. The kind of night where you question every decision you've ever made, and relive every moment in your life you'd rather forget. I tried reaching out to the goddes for peace and calm, and I did eventually get some sleep. Surprisingly I feel not too bad this morning. Although I did spend a lot of time staring into space while getting washed and dressed.

I am sorry so many of you are still coughing, I expect you all know this remedy that my Great Nan used to make. Slice a strong onion thinly, cover it in honey ane leave it for 8 hours or overnight. I also add chopped rosemary and thyme, and grated lemon peel. The liquor that comes off the onion is the cough mixture. It doesn't taste as bad as it sounds. Its quite soothing, and as its only onion herbs and honey it cannot really do any harm. Hope you all feel better soon.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/12/2022 11:07

I have a pot of bramble vinegar on the stove finishing off for the cough.
Sorry you had such a rough night @Probablymagrat
spent the night mostly awake, very glad to not need to drive anywhere today, although the to do list is long and I lack the energy to tackle it. Subluxed a whole heap of joints over the last week and none of them are settling down. Which when combined with the latest round of ick is as much fun as it sounds.

Speakout could you kindly send some of that snow south? I could really use some of its restorative protective power right now.

speakout · 08/12/2022 11:22

Thanks for the recipe Probablymagrat and the idea for raspberry vinegar.
Sorry for those that had a rough night.
I think the full moon can sometimes affect us- the powerful energy can disrupt or calm.
The snow has stopped, but is lying on the ground, it is still below zero here.
Also the sun has come out, flooding the room with eye watering brightness from light reflection from snow outside. The brightest I have seen since summer.
And also highlights the fact my windows need cleaned!
Work has finished for christmas, but I don't often stop completely.
I am taking opportunity to rest, sort out my craft supplies, make lists for reordering etc. But it is fun to do all that at a good slow pace. It also means I am in a good organised place when I am back to work.

I need to revive and replenish my bird feeding station, so I have brought in the wire feeding baskets and cages for suet, put everything into a big bucket with boiling water. There were a few old rotting nuts etc, so all cleaned out and drying ready for use again.
I was hoping to get to the garden centre to buy bird food, but I am waiting for my new sofa to be delivered, hopefully it won't be too long.
Otherwise it will wait until tomorrow.
Enjoy the snow for those that have it!

I will try that cough rememdy. I went out collecting twigs in my lunchbreak so I can make Solstice gifts. In return I was gifted these from the trees..

Any Witches Here?- Part 17.
takemetomars · 08/12/2022 15:47

I have just bought the following book. I am already thinking of ways in which to use it
The author is American and it is very detailed. Has anyone else used it?

Any Witches Here?- Part 17.
Elphame · 08/12/2022 16:47

I find correspondences to be very personal and quite culture specific.

US culture is dominant on the internet and many pagan groups which means that the British ones are totally overlooked. Take for example money - green is the usual correspondence there but that's because all American bank notes are green and thus there is a strong link. Not so in Britain...

Use the book as a source of inspiration certainly but substitute your own gut feelings and experiences if appropriate. These should always take priority. Remember correspondences were originally made up by someone and yours are just as valid.

takemetomars · 08/12/2022 20:55

This book contains references to deities from all cultures do, personally, I am satisfied that it is quite comprehensive. I am new to this, I am in my 50s and have a feel for what is right for me. I am more interested in the natural side of things, plants, moon phases. Etc so I am happy to pick and choose what suits me. I am more than happy to consider other cultures. There are no rules to this, yes??

VioletCharlotte · 08/12/2022 22:23

Sorry to hear so many of you are still feeling rough. Interested to read the homemade remedies and bookmarking in case I need them.

It's been one of those magical winter days today, bright blue sky, frost glittering on the trees and bushes and so cold! I went for a walk with my dog just as it was getting dark and watched the full moon rise over the trees. I slept well last night, which is unusual for me during a full moon, and have felt something shift today. The heavy weight that's been dragging me down feels a bit lighter and I even managed to drag myself out to Pilates tonight.

No snow yet though. I hope you're wrapped up warm Speakout!

speakout · 09/12/2022 06:19

I am up early for yoga- it is bitterly cold and I see there has been fresh snowfall overnight- I will have to take a brush to my car.
I think the ideas behind magical correspondences are complex and varied.
I know much of it is attributed to 19th century occultists, but many of the correspondances have been around for far longer.
I have heard the claim about green and the dollar, but £1 notes in the UK used to be green too.
Green feels a right to use if working with money energy, it is the colour of growth, fertility, growing of crops, abundance. No great stretch to representing money for me.
Many cutures use green for the same meaning. Same with red- the colour of blood- and Mars when viewed- to do with passion, anger, lust. White seems obvious too.
The chakra system also uses colour.
The whole "system" borrows from many sources and cultures.
If it feels right - then do it!

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 09/12/2022 19:31

Its an interesting discussion on correspondences.
In some cultures white is the mourning colour, some black.
In some cultures the carnation flower is the flower used for mourning wreaths/arrangements.
These relationships will also bare an influence on correspondences.

I portioned out a batch of headache salve earlier. A friend asked if she could get an extra one as her mum had walked off with her test pot as apparently it worked so good for her. Friend also finds it helps. So i will deliver her a pot when I pop over next. I want to get some herbs steeping in oil ready for another batch of salves in the new year.

We have had a few sprinklings of snow and it has given me just enough of a boost to do what is needed. I would love a good cover of snow but it would make all the traveling of people more tricky in the next week.

Had the pleasure of watching a very fat fluffy robin bounce around the garden table this morning. It was a delight to see.

Wishing you all gentle weekends.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who posts. I haven't got your knowledge, but I find your posts positive and uplifting. I find you all inspirational x

speakout · 09/12/2022 19:53

Mums1234 thankyou for posting too. You have given us uplifting energy with your kind words.
Extensive magical knowledge does not define our worth or power.
No poster here has an extensive knowledge of all magical practices- many I have barely touched. I know nothing of runes, voodoo or dream analysis, and never commune with spirits. I have never used an ouija board or attended a seance.
And that's OK. Other people have interests and expertise, and that's great.
Mums1234 you are as worthy as any of us.

EmmaAgain22 · 09/12/2022 22:53

So sorry to hear about all the illness
Hope those affected recover soon

I am another who is worn out by a full moon and need extra rest.

I haven't been around for a while, mum had a suspected stroke and before that, i had pneumonia. Feels like one of those winters!

I think some people here are good at dream interpretation? I had an office dream, but what stood out about it was that someone had a very arty lamp on their desk, made of turquoise. In the dream, I asked him about it and he got cross.

No idea what that might mean, be interested in any thoughts.

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/12/2022 23:50

Urm - i wish it was a test batch that i froze half of. I am not sure where my development book is right now. It is still a disaster zone here, a building site trussed up as christmas. Goodness which safe place has the notes with the proportions. Sorry. I do know that I used pinterest and googled herbs/oils that were supposed to be good for headaches and went from there. But not sure how much help that is.

speakout · 10/12/2022 07:18

EmmaAgain22 sorry to hear you and your Mum have been unwell. I hope you are bothe recovering well.
Sorry I can't help with dream interpretation, I have a person centred approach to my own dream analysis. Hopefully someone will be along soon to help.
I have spent yesterday tidying the house and sorting stuff out at a lovely slow pace- it has been a while since I have seen the living room so clear.
I am having a new dishwasher delivered today ( why do these things always happen before christmas), the old one has sprung several leaks, and I did consider repairing, but it is quite old and has other little faults too- the door is cracked, the opening handle doesn't work etc so I thought time for a replacement.

But Body Balance this morning, before that I need to do a root touch up at home- I was planning to yesterday, but my mother had unexpected visitors.
Nothing looks quite as wild as hair mid touch up. Only the roots are wet, and hair is flying off in all directions like the wild woman I am! I didn't want to be making tea looking like Baba Yaga.
Another bitterly cold day here, heavy snow is expected by 2pm onwards, crashing into us from the North East. So I will make sure I have done all my outside activities and snuggled up at home by then.
The moon is at ease in Cancer today, her celestial home. So will bring soft feminine energy to the day, centered around the home and comfort.
So a perfect day for relaxing, soaking up the calm, baking, enjoying peace.

That sounds good to me Speakout I'm feeling calmer today, a day off work yesterday and time to sort the house out and out the Christmas tree up has really helped. Beautiful flow and restore yoga class this morning, watching the sun rise over the frosty fields. Feeling revived and ready to tackle some jobs - writing and posting Christmas cards, returning some online purchases, sorting out the gifts I've bought and what's still left to buy. DS will go out later to watch the football so I'm looking forward to a cosy night in, just me and the dog.

EmmaH so sorry to hear about your Mum and that you have been I'll too. No idea about the dream I'm afraid.

Mums1234 thank you for your lovely post, it gave me a lift to know that you are enjoying reading the thread. It's good to have your energy amongst us.

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/12/2022 12:31

There is snow on the ground here. I am trying to get going enough to get out and walk off the funk and soak in the restorative energy.

Sorry you and your mum have been so unwell Emma

Hope you get to enjoy your day violetcharlotte

speakout · 10/12/2022 13:00

VioletCharlotte your yoga class sounds perfect.
We did a moon salutation yesterday which was just perfect, also the teacher is offering a yoga Nidra class on the 23rd.
I was at Body Balance this morning, a new release, it was quite fast moving, and although my lungs are still not 100% it felt good to have such deep breathing and high heart rate.
I am home now, having tea and sorting through some purchases from this morning. It will be a slow potter this afternoon, just perfect!

OP posts:
speakout · 11/12/2022 07:05

More snow today, it is starting to feel quite christmassy. I hope to get the tree soon, DD likes to help me choose and manhandle it into the car.
I am also making gift bags, today-some regulars at my yoga classes like to exchange small gifts at christmas time, I have some small items, there are some youtube videos it looks simple and fun.
I picked up some paper at TK Max- they have some really fun and funky christmas wrapping paper- and it's very strong. Anyone else a fan of TK Max wrap? I pick up some every year.
New dishwasher is installed- I left OH to that part, I don't like workmen or engineers in the house- I am usually with one of my cats - hiding behind the sofa!
I am enoying my time off so much, I can't remember the last time I had a whole weekend without work- probably a year. It highlights the fact that I rush through most days, trying to fit everything in.
There will be wreath making this week, luckily I have ivy and holly growing in my garden, the holly is full of berries, and I always have lots of bits and bobs, cinnamon sticks etc in the house.
I may make some yule and solstice candles too for my own use, maybe to give to some friends, I have all the supplies, and lots of essential oils.
I was looking for some interesting or funky containers.
I know vintage tea cup candles are popular, I was wondering what else may make for a fun container- ideas appreciated!
I am having a home facial this morning, then yoga at 9.15.
The moon is still chilling in her homie of cancer, and this afternoon moves into Leo for a slight gear shift.
Leo will inject some playful energy as she toys with the moon, bringing fun and celebration and fizz into our expression. A good day for creativity too, if you are making, baking or writing.
I hope everyone enjoys their day.
