Went to a talk by the Bishop of Durham lats night about Dawkin's the God Delusion and I was not impressed.

Me and DP being the only two athiests in there and possibly the only two who had read it, his misrepresntaions and at one point, outright lie, did not endear me to his argument.

I think most previous left wingers are moderate conservatives these days, which probably sounds a bit hypocritical but I think might be more to do with pragmacies and tehy are more humanitarian than any one would imagine.

Just got a book about neo-conservatives which is actually tells us that they are all reformed marxists, etc and are still left leaning humanitirians.

The 'conservative' element is that they want to preserve civil liberties as they stand against a slew of cultural relatavism and extream librealismn which is being exploited by fundamentalists.

I am quite glad to see what might be the end of rigid ideologies in politics for a more adaptive approach but with core humanitarian beliefs.
