Regular church-goers: how do you manage to get to church/mass every Sunday morning??

Just a practical question really.

We're RC and despite good intentions, we only manage to get to church once every two or three weeks. Admittedly, sometimes we have missed mass because one of us has been ill, but generally (and I know this sounds terrible) it's because we are so busy every other morning that we find we really need to have one "calm" morning a week that doesn't involve rushing out early.

Saturdays are always chock-a-block and dh travels abroad most weeks (often to different time zones) and consequently likes to catch up with a bit of sleep on Sunday mornings too. (He's not being lazy - he works long, long hours - and helps at home alot when he is here too.)

I know mass should be more of a priority for us but in reality it's not happening.
One of my New Year's resolutions is to try to ensure that we get to mass regularly. I'd really appreciate knowing how you all manage this?

Ours is a 9.30 service, so it is relatively a lie-in, we are up at 6.00 in the week.

My DH and DC go to rugby every Sunday morning, virtually nothing would stop them going, so its relatively easy for me, as I am on my own, so really enjoy the time to go to the service/teach Sunday School, and socialise afterwards.

Thanks for starting this thread Counting.....I am in a similar situation with DS1; we moved last year and our new local church is a real fuddy duddy one (our old one had kids everywhere), so I stopped bringing him.. Have recently found a family friendly one 15mins drive away, but the few times he has been he is bouncing around the place. There's lots of good advise here so will try it out at the weekend.

Hi I'm new to MN... am really glad to have found this forum!

I take both my girls (aged 4 and 13mths) every Sunday. It is part of our routine. Our service is at 11am so its quite a relaxed start.

We also have a family service on a Monday at 4pm. Its wonderful. I collect Robyn from school and go straight to church for juice and biscuits before the service starts.

Gosh, I'm really surprised & pleased to hear how many family friendly services there are out there nowadays ... in general it's still rather traditional where I live. Things must be improving.

Last time I took dd to church she took it upon herself to sing along with an organ solo and it did not go down at all well!!
