MN Christian prayer thread - come let us adore the world's most precious firstborn

DutchOmainapeartree · 13/12/2007 21:00

We pray for ourselves:- that we may make time to be "Marys" as well as "Marthas" in all the busy-ness leading up to Christmas.

We pray for our precious husbands in the words of the prayer I quoted earlier:-

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods;? and?
we won't go into the rest of the prayer so close to Christmas. (Full text on the old thread)

Pray for NorthernLurker's dh to find a job soon and for Harrisey's dh to find the strength to do a stressful job. Also for Bobsmum's dh to find a new job before February. We pray for peace and quiet over Christmas in all household, especially where dh is not fully committed to the Christian faith, that they may see the loveliness of Jesus around them.
We pray for those without husbands, for NSFN and Mummy2T&F. Also for Creambunnie.

We pray for our children; from the tiny unborns (Podglet, Bobsmum and CaptainCaveman) to include all our children young and not so young. Pray that we will be able to show them the love of Christ. That we may be able to protect them, help them. We pray for Roseylea's dd, Bobsmums ds, Mary's ds, NQGU's ds, that they may be able to cope with life at school and with the holidays.

We pray for those who have suffered bereavement, for QoQ family on the loss of their much loved grandfather. For Mufti's dh who lost his father recently as did Santas(Shreks)missus' dh.
We pray for Pepperpots in her loss

We pray for those with worries over sick friends and relatives, for Spookymadmummy's Mum and for her stepdad, just out of hospital, for CaptainCaveman's friend and little one in hospital, (Lord if possible, bring her out of hospital before Christmas) also for her teenage friend with eating disorders. We also pray for CC's dsis and her dd. Lord, we pray Your healing over that whole family.
We pray with Muppetgirl for her mil and her mother, who is ill and a long way away.
Lulumama and Rubyslippers' grandma.
We also remember OJ and Steve and their 3dcs in our prayers.

We give thanks with Geekymummy for healing in her marriage for PandaG doing well in her new job and enjoying it.
We pray for TheWiltedRose that she may have a very happy Christmas and that she may come to see the One Who is behind it all.
And we pray for CaptainDippy that she may feel surrounded by the love of Christ who is the Provider in all her needs.
We pray for 'absent friends', for Soozy, Creambunnie and MumtoGusandAlbie
Lord, we bring You our prayers and our worship in this Christmas period.

Swaliswan - can I shorten you to SS by the way? - has your dh accessed any support services since coming back? However brilliantly he might think he's coping everybody can use a chance to talk through tough times. From what you've said I think he might need that.
Will pray for answers for you. My view is that working shifts with a baby is likely to be hard on all of you - but don't panic - use the plans you've got now and wait just a little - more doors are going to open. Sorry the nursery session was tough - but it will get better. I would be evry clear with them that this week (just for example) they should call you if she is upset. Then next week they should wait longer and the week after that not call you at all - just ease you and her into it. She is not angry with you - but she does love you - rightly so because you are being a wonderful mum.

Mary - praying for good things and easier times for you.

Hi Sooz!

Stayinginfaith - welcome - will pray for you and all your family, for good news and easier times. All the best.

DutchOma · 10/01/2008 21:40

SS Would endorse what NL says:- hang in there. God never brings you out in the desert to leave you there. Just for now enjoy your baby while you can, keep the breastfeeding up as much as you can, it is going to be less important to her as time goes on and, as others have said, maybe you will never have to give a bottle with formula, but can go on expressing. Is there any chance doing the work you are doing during 'office hours' much as NSFN is doing, or would that not bring in enough money to pay for the nursery?
Things will work out if you can just be patient and let God work out His will for you.

mufti · 11/01/2008 09:26

hi all, getting ready to go up to see mil for the weekend, first time since fil funeral, and since i managed to upset her sending that booklet
a prayer for safe journeys , and a peaceful , relaxed time, please, and that ds settles well, as he finds it hard in strange places. thank you.

CaptainDyson · 11/01/2008 10:17

Really need to start a new thread soon.

Rosey - Praying for your breakfast plans (exciting) and your vocation plans (also exciting)! God works all things together for good - tough one to believe sometimes, but I do try to trust Him! xx

StayinginFaith - Lovely to "see" you here! Praying for you at this anxious time - praying that the scan goes well and brings good news - Do pop in again when you can. {{{{hugs}}}} xxx

SS - Praying for you - you do sound like a rollercoaster of emotions atm and everything you have said is compeltely understandable and rational. As mothers, I am sure everyone on this thread can completely identify with feelings you are expressing - I know that I can - I neeeeeeed to go back to work asap; but childcare is a logistical nightmare and I feel terrible about leaving my gorgeous little 8 month old with anyone else. It is eating me up. Consuming me totally. I am just trying to "hang in there" and trust God for my needs. I am praying for you and we are all here for you. I am so glad you can articulate yourself so well in this - That is the first and most important step. xxxx

Praying for your visit to MIL, mufti - May God do an amazing work in her! xx

Notquitegrownup · 11/01/2008 10:19

Good morning all. Praying for you this weekend Mufti. It's a long journey for you, isn't it? Praying for safe travels and for a positive time for you all whilst you are there.

Could I ask for prayers for my boys please? I have never seen them as tired as they were this morning! (DS2 has just started full time school, so has done 4 full days in a row, but ds1 was just as bad!) Prayers that they might get through the day gently and peacefully, would be much appreciated.

And my 82 year old MIL has decided to be confirmed on Monday, which is wonderful!! Please pray with me that it might be the beginning of a truly exciting journey for her. (Prayers for my dh at this time would be appreciated too - especially as she brought him up to be an atheist, so it is all quite strange for him. As is his wife, of course!)

Right, off to brave the rain in town - my first outside trip for 3 weeks!

God bless all.

Notquitegrownup · 11/01/2008 10:21

Good morning CD and all

So sorry to have ignored the other posts. My head is still very stuffed up and throbby. Yuck.

Stayinginfaith - special prayers for you at this time. And prayers for all MNers, specially those on this thread.

God bless all.

CaptainDyson · 11/01/2008 10:41

Hi NQGU! Prayers for tired boys and confirmed MIL's - and for stil suffering you. xxxx

bobsmum · 11/01/2008 11:14

Morning all!

We've been without power since Tuesday night. Don't imagine the dreadful storms in Scotland made the national news because they weren't in London

But there were originally tens of thousands of homes without power until eventually only 1000 were without by late WEdnesday night and we were one of them

So freezing, dark house, we packed in the dark and scarpered to my parents house for 2 nights. twas a bit of a trek (50 mins) to do the school run in the morning but amazingly we made it.

Got back to the house a couple of hours ago and it's coooooooold!! Warming up slowly and trying to catch up on 4 days of washing.

Am so grateful to friends taking us all in during the day on Tues and Wed - I'm more appreciative than ever of all the things we usually take for granted

CaptainDippy · 11/01/2008 11:19

Oh goodness BM!! So am I right in guessing power is restored now!!? Glad it wasnt for too long and that you had places to go and places to stay. How are you doing, other than the power shortage!!?

Back to Dippy again - was missing my old persona!

bobsmum · 11/01/2008 11:29

Went out during the worst of the storm late on Tuesday night and came back on late last night, so we were only out of the house for 2 nights and one day. But Wednesday morning was horrible, the gale was still raging (90mph) and our charming allotment friend next door managed to have at least a dozen huge sheets of corrugated iron flying around loose from his tip of a plot next door.

Two flew into the side of the house and just missed our side door - there are huge gouges taken out of the hosue wall and dh's car was damaged too - now in garage getting £200 worth of repairs . We will be pestering our "neighbour" for some of that cost because of his negligence. Thankfully I took loads of photos first thing that morning cos he came pretty promptly to clear up his Cr@p

Then we'll have to do an inventory on all the spoilage in the fridge and freezer which we may or may not get back.

The power company may give us £50 compensation because we were out of power for more than 18 hours.

Did I mention our septic tank is overflowing too - driveway is a charming place to be atm [bleurgh emoticon!!]

As I typed that last rant, one of the local farmers just turned up with his sludge gulper to empty the tank!! That'll teach me to moan

DutchOma · 11/01/2008 11:31

Oh Bobsmum, and no chance of course of letting us know, you're right, we had no idea.
Hope your trip goes well Mufti, mils aren't easy, especially not since she suffered a bereavement. Hope everything is peaceful and gentle.
Glad to have our Dippy back, I missed her too
Praying for the boys NQGU, the weather doesn't help of course.
I believe in pancakes for this kind of weather

CaptainDippy · 11/01/2008 11:44

Ooooooh, yes, pancakes!

Oh BM - not good, not good at all. @ your blomin' neighbour - really hopey ou can get him to cough up for the repairs - especially to the car - not good. and Hope weather is heaps better now though, pretty scary stuff - God's power!!!!!!!

Hello DO!

bobsmum · 11/01/2008 11:55

katz · 11/01/2008 15:31

hi not been about for a while but have been doing a generic please pray for all the mumsnetters asking for you're help type prayer. Could really use some prayers myself right now, my boss has told me in confidence that my current job doesn't feature in the strategic plan of the place i work, however they're creating a different job, which sounds fab, but they have to get the nod to do so, so please pray that the new job is funded and that when it comes to be advertised that it is suitable for me, thanks in advance, i really need some good news on the work front the past 2 years have been very stressful with lots of short term uncertain contracts. i know He has a plan but i could really use my stress levels being lowered i don;t do stress very well.

CaptainDippy · 11/01/2008 20:20

Neither do I, Katz. Neither do I. Good to "see" you sweetie. Praying for your job situ muchly honey. xx

notsofarnow · 11/01/2008 22:47

Havent got any energy to post properly but have read. Have had really bad day.. Feel totally and utterly depressed, stomach in complete knots, cant be bothered to do anything.

I dont want to be in this pit any longer.

PandaG · 11/01/2008 22:49

nsfn - praying honey xx

MaryBS · 11/01/2008 22:59

NSFN - praying too. You know, you said just the right thing to me yesterday and today. Totally made sense, really put things in perspective for me. For that I thank you (and God of course!). You mentioned retreats before - can I suggest Bishop Woodford House in Ely, then I could come visit you... .

I will just say also, God is Good (all the time). Things are moving for me, so far in the right direction, although there are still a number of hurdles to clear. Thank you again for all your prayers, my mind is clearer now and I know what to pray for. I feel truly blessed by God's love and truly blessed by my friends here

PandaG · 11/01/2008 23:04

glad to hear things are moving in the right direction Mary, you know where I am... {{hugs}}

Roseylea · 12/01/2008 08:48

Good morning!

{{{nsfn}}} - praying for you. May you have a really good day today and just feel how much you are loved as a daughter of God.

Mary, glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction. You know I'm prayung for you!

Katz - job insecurity is such a stress, isn't it? Praying for this new possibility, that God would open all the right doors and shut the not-so-right ones (to use a well-worn christian cliche!)

Bobsmum - eeek! Praise God you're okay!

NQGU - how are you now? Are you all better? (I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow! Might go to church in the city tomorrow pm - not sure which, or whatever. If you happen to be going to church yourself tomorrow pm, e-mail me!)

Hi CD! Are you enjoying your Dyson? We have one, and it's good! (We used to have three hoovers, none of which actually worked. So the Dyson is definitely an improvement!)

We are all okay here - off to take dd to football soon, then onto see relatives for the day. I am so looking forward to my retreat! Yippeeeeeeeeee! I am going without any agenda, nothing that I want to read or pray about or do - I just want to make myself available to God for these three days and let Him do in me whatever He knows I need atm. I'm going straight after church tomorrow morning and coming back on Tues night, so I won't not be around after today - they don't have e-mail there! (praise God - sometimes it's good to be "me unplugged"!) if you could offer up a prayer for dh, who will be looking after the dc, getting them off to school etc etc, I'm sure he'd appreciate that!

Another prayer request (am I allowed two in one post?!) Could you pray for the school where I work? There seems to be a real opportunity for outreach there - I'm trying to organise this evangelistic breakfast, and I've also arranged for a christian writer to come in and talk to the kids about writing and God and his own experience of being at a very similar school. (He'll work with the christian club, but also with kids in English lessons etc.) It feels like such a God-given opportunity, and that geneally there's a kind of "open heaven" over the place with such freedom to speak about faith. Nearly every day I get kids asking me questions about God, opporunities to share bits of my faith and life with them. So could you pray that the breakfast does happen, that we get all that we need to pull it off, and for creative ways of sharing our faith with the kids there (the head etc are really happy for me to be doing all this.) Bobsmum esp. - please pray for this place!

DutchOma · 12/01/2008 10:12

Glad things are on the up, Mary - praying this continue - keep the lines of communication open honey!

Hope you have a wonderful time on your retreat, Rosey - Praying that God really speaks to you and give you ltos of opportunity for R&R! Praying for your DH and DC's and for the school you work in too!
