Oh that's very interesting, I didn't know about conversion to melatonin. Do you reckon that if I persist with it, eventually I'll stop feeling tired? I suffer really badly with SAD. By March I am usually so low I can barely function. I dread Winter now. I have been experiencing muscle spasms in my legs for the past year too, so I wonder if this is due to Vit D deficiency.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2018 08:12

In theory yes. I use the vit D to cure my insomnia. I find that whilst I feel more tired I get better quality sleep so once my body has balanced my sleep deficit and vit D levels out I do feel less tired and more rested. Without vit d I feel like I have been hit by a truck in the morning, with I actually get to a point where I feel rested. I will not lie though, when I have been bad about taking it, or if I have issues with other med preventing sleep, I do feel the need for 12 hours sleep initially, But it does pass for me. It is a balance between life demands and need for the extra sleep though. Little opportunity for longer sleep tends to draw out the process and it takes longer until I feel balanced.

It might be worth trying the new method and giving it a proper go. Generally you will know after a month if there is any improvement. But you might want to give 2 for a better indication before deciding if it is for you?

BelladonnaKebab · 07/12/2018 09:20

Thank you Flowers
Am enjoying catching up on all of the previous posts from you wise ladies. Have put out fresh salt bowls, sprayed the house with moonwater and am considering smudging this afternoon to get rid of all the fear and sadness and bad feeling. Time to refresh!

queenrollo · 07/12/2018 09:21

I get it from Holland and Barratt. There are a couple of strengths. I use the 3000 but you could try the 1000 if you are wary of it affecting you.

Interestingly my husband has had chronically low VitD the last two winters, and this coincides with him taking statins (he had a heart attack a couple of years ago). The body needs cholesterol to convert the VitD in your system. As his cholesterol is so low on the meds he has no VitD. Despite it making him feel dreadful last winter, he has not heeded my advice for a daily spray like me - and lo! recent blood tests show he very deficient again!

Morning.

Woke up with a dodgy tummy this morning- hope it wasn't from lunch with DD yesterday.

Feeling drained.
Have quite a bit of work today, but I have put the brakes on orders- I can't cope with any more and I want energy to enjoy christmas. trying to wind things down for the festive period now.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling under the weather speakout, sounds wise to put the brakes on your orders. I hope the pressure and dodgy tummy both ease soon x

speakout · 07/12/2018 11:19

YashmisCrone

Thanks, tummy feels a little better, though still tired.

Hectic house herem never sure how many for dinner, so just making a huge lasagne which will feed everyone and can be reheated if necessary.

Yule tree will be coming early next week, so I have to clear a space and look out decorations from the attic.

Sorry you're not feeling well Speakout try and relax as much as you can over the weekend. Not easy this time of year I know!

I'm doing my best to be positive and find the magic, but I'm finding it tough to find anything positive about getting up and driving to work in the pitch dark and pouring rain!

At least it's the weekend almost 😊

YashmisCrone · 07/12/2018 14:41

Glad the tummy’s eased a bit speakout, hope you have chance for a few minutes with some peppermint tea amongst it all.

Violet it’s tough isn’t it, it just doesn’t feel right to be up and out at this time of year. Hope you’re getting a decent break over Christmas, and in the meantime, yes, roll on the weekend!

I’m finding I’m struggling to do what I don’t want to do! Sounds obvious but I can find the energy for tasks I feel drawn to and easily get into a flow but other things I really can’t make myself do! Obviously there are some things that just have to be done but beyond that I’m just going to try and go with my flow as much as possible. Better to get something done that wasn’t on the job list than to have a fight with myself over something I really should be doing and end up unproductive. This is definitely stronger at this time of year.

I attended a meeting this morning (something I avoid if at all possible!) and saw an ex colleague I hadn’t spoken to for years. She confided in me about some difficult circumstances she’s going through, mentioning those around her who were helping or hindering the situation. Whilst talking about one of the former, she described an empathic woman who had been a support. She said ‘she’s a witch, like us’ I was taken aback tbh. I’ve never discussed this with her and am very private about my beliefs and practices. I was surprised to learn that my invisible besom is indeed visible to others like me!

Elphame · 07/12/2018 15:07

There does seem to be a witchdar YashmisCrone!

I'm supposed to be tidying up for a surprise visit from my DB and his partner but I'm not! They can take us as they find us. The surprise bit is for DM who is 80 tomorrow. We are going out to lunch but she has no idea that DB will be coming too as he lives at the opposite end of the country and isn't actually invited.... She rarely sees him so it'll be a lovely present for her.

Then I'm back to North Wales for a while - the holiday let has got to be decorated for our Christmas guests. Well that's my excuse anyway.

PawneeParksDept · 07/12/2018 15:51

Just popping in with all good wishes for all, nothing new to add. Beginning finally to feel festive at last. Smile

sockportal · 07/12/2018 21:52

Hello all, I've been been moved to tears with all your kind words and offers of advice. I'm sure I will be better once I start my job at the moment it's still a step into the unknown. Thank you all.

@HillsBesideTheSea thank you for the information about vitamin D and sleep. I didn't know about that, it makes a lot of sense though.

I am hoping everyone has nice plans for the weekend.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2018 22:06

Drove through a couple of villages on the way home tonight to look at their Christmas lights. Christmas songs on the radio so the whole experience was that bit more festive - pretty lights, nice backing track, songs being butchered Grin Thank goodness it was just me in the car.

Sockportal my plan for the weekend is Sleeeeeeeeep (with brief interruption of popping into work with the thing I keep forgetting to take in, and laundry)

Elphame hope your mum enjoys her surprise and you had a lovely time with your brother.

speakout · 08/12/2018 07:51

Morning witchy frioends.

Feeling a lot more energy today, have to leave soon to drop off DD at work, then OH is taking me into the city centre - by car - so I can hit two shops and hopefully be heading home by 9.30.

I hope you all have a magical weekend.

Sokere · 08/12/2018 09:55

Good morning everyone,

Glad you are feeling better speakout and hope today goes well Elphame (I envy you still having a mother as I miss mine so much, especially this time of year)

I have a lot to post but don't feel the time is right somehow.. Maybe in January as I may need some guidance.

Hope you all have a good weekend x

speakout · 08/12/2018 12:03

Sokere

Hi.
Back from a very short power shop into the city centre.

OH was waiting around the corner in the car, managed Lush ( spent far too much), Debenhams and Boots, all withing 20 minutes.

No back home, glorious sunny day here, working at a gentle pace and drinking herbal tea.

VioletCharlotte · 08/12/2018 12:23

Hello everyone. Glad to hear you're feeling better Speakout and how lovely to see some sunshine!

Sokere hope you're ok Thanks We're here if you need us.

I'm drinking coffee and trying to get myself motivated. I was up in the night with toothache so feeling pretty exhausted today.

speakout · 08/12/2018 12:30

VioletCharlotte

Oh awful, toothache can be so painful.
Can you get to a dentist soon?

OP posts:
VioletCharlotte · 08/12/2018 13:00

Speakout hopefully on Monday. I'm not sure what to do though as they've told me the tooth either needs to come out or I'll have to have root canal (which I can't afford at the moment). I've been ignoring it, hoping to hold out until after Christmas, but I don't think I'm going to be able to. It's not as bad today as it was last night thankfully.

Sokere · 08/12/2018 13:10

Thank you so much for your concern..I'm actually fine so sorry if my post mislead you. Just being drawn spiritually along a path (now, of all times when I have little time to myself!) and wanted to discuss this with you, see what you all thought.

But I need to frame my questions correctly too so think it's best to wait and give myself a little breathing space.

Thank you though... Flowers

Ps VioletCharlotte If it's painful you should be able to visit an emergency nhs out of hours service? You shouldn't have to pay anything.

Giggorata · 08/12/2018 13:27

Just dropping in to say hello; I have been lurking and resting to recharge my batteries, very much in keeping with the thread currently..

I normally get the chance to slow down a bit after the huge annual autumn shenanigans at work, but not this year... so I’m in hiding, over a long weekend. (There may be an element of snooker involved and a nice time with the coven tomorrow..)
l'm girding my loins for the Xmas onslaught, plus my new grandson will be joining us round about that time..
I wish everyone the rest and ease they need. 💫

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/12/2018 17:52

violet have you got access to anbesol? Got lidocaine in it so numbs things fabulously, and a small bit goes a very long way. Might buy you some time?

speakout · 08/12/2018 17:54

Giggorata

Lovely to see you.
A new grandson- how lovely!

I am feeling much calmer now that I am pacing myself. not quite the spirit there yet, but no longer the panic!!

I have also been detaching from a close family member who is struggling with their own spiritual path an often asks me for guidance.

It is serving neither of us well for me to help, our paths are so distant. and the advice I give only serve to confuse.

So I have stepped back a huge amount and feeling much happier.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 08/12/2018 18:07

Glad you are feeling calmer speakout

I am aiming to go do an activity later that always soothes my soul. Although sometimes I wonder if it is ever possible for me to be truly calm. My inner level of chaos is rather high energy. I currently have dance anthems on and it is soothingly loud and bouncy. And on the flipside looking forwards to catching up on this weeks Gardeners world. Doing my normal January reflection in December this year. Just feels right to do it this way around this time. Considering putting into places for the new moon after solstice but not sure whether to go with new at the full moon or the 1st new moon after.?

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/12/2018 18:11

Putting changes into place.

Sorry brain is running fast atm. Kinda has been all day.
