I think my jug is a bit low! Our current holiday guests broke a mirror so I had to brave the horror that is the Range at this time of the year.

That's it. I'm not setting foot in another shop until February! 2 separate PA systems murdering xmas music competing with singing inflatable santas. How the staff stand it I have no idea. I was in and out as fast as possible.

This afternoon's task is getting candle wax out of a piece of handmade lace. I just hope it isn't ruined.

EnchantersNightshade · 03/12/2018 16:32

Elphame your description of your consumer experience is making me feel quite ill Grin. That is one thing I definitely don't miss. My delightful tune today seems to be blackbirds outside. And rain.

Good luck with the candle wax on the lace. You've reminded me lace making is on my future list of love to try activities. Need brain to function a little better first.

Hi Gee Smile Am hoping to follow who says what a little more on the thread in 2019. I'm practising now.

speakout and YashmisCrone and all the other lovelies whose names I cannot recall just now, your spiritual adventures and creative plans stir my brain to faraway places and makes my creative fingers tingle on the bedspread Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/12/2018 17:10

elphame you stop listening after a while. And only notice when someone turns it off or changes it. (although in my day it was CDs so someone had to remember to hit play or change the cd every so often too.)

Today has been busy mentally so far and is about to get busy physically shortly.

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/12/2018 17:12

Oh wrt lace it is generally possible to get the wax out but mind for red and green which can stain depending on the candle. Sad we lost a lovely lace table cloths to green wax.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/12/2018 17:19

I seem to remember reading about putting the item with wax on in the freezer. The wax should peel off easier then.

Re-melting the wax with a warm iron and grease proof paper works - I’ve managed to get wax off that way before.

VioletCharlotte · 03/12/2018 18:01

Elphame I feel exactly the same about the Range. It's totally overwhelming isn't it?! It's just so big, with so much stuff, too many people and too much noise! There are some bargains to be had though, so it's worth the effort every now and again.

Enchanters it's so good to hear from you.Your post about stress and overdoing it being the cause of your illness really made me think. Stress does terrible things to the body and mind. Thinking of you and sending positive energy your way.

After a couple of weeks of low energy and low mood, I'm finally feeling more like my old self! Looking forward to yoga tonight. I always feel amazing afterwards and sleep like a log.

PawneeParksDept · 03/12/2018 18:21

I like The Range Blush

speakout · 03/12/2018 18:44

I haven't been about for a bit.... Sorry!
Hope everyone is doing well.

I've started saving ashes for to make black salt. And I made a new friend a few weeks ago and it turns out she's a witch! Now I have to find a witchy gift (under a tenner) for her for Yule

PerfectlyGoodAtBeingBad · 03/12/2018 19:56

Greetings Cake
I'm new to MN (not to my craft). I've been a long time lurked and love reading the witchy threads.
Please pretend I'm not here but am here if you know what I mean Smile

YashmisCrone · 03/12/2018 21:26

Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a good week 💫

I’m a bit behind with the discussion... I love the momentum of the thread!

Enchanters wise words about looking after ourselves, thank you. I’m trying to heed them.

Sokere I remember reading somewhere that we do actually experience time passing faster as we get older, can’t remember why- I’ll have to try and look it up again.

Hello to people joining/rejoining 👋 It’s good to have you here.

Elphame I’ve definitely got the same ‘clearing’ bug as you! There must be something in the air! I’ve also got a strong desire for simplicity which is helping me let go of possessions I no longer need.

Like many of us I’m up to my eyes in planning and doing, on the wave of the season. I’m making sure I take time out as a necessity. I’m getting better at switching off I think. I’m looking forward to taking time off work and just being

YashmisCrone · 03/12/2018 21:41

Violet lovely to hear you’re feeling more yourself again. Hope you had a good yoga session

VioletCharlotte · 03/12/2018 22:02

Yashmis thank you 🙏 Really enjoyed yoga. During shavasana I had a lovely vision of a butterfly with transparent wings. I'm going to meditate on that and try and understand what that means.

You sound happier too tonight ❤️

YashmisCrone · 03/12/2018 22:09

That sounds beautiful! Also feels apt with the transformation of energy you’ve felt 🦋

Yes, I do feel better too- really relishing my candle lit evenings. Embracing the lower energy levels and going with it Smile

BlankTimes · 03/12/2018 22:19

Hi everyone,
It's been a bit hectic chez Blank of late, so whilst I have 5 minutes me time, I thought I'd nip in and get a brew going on the Aga, light a few candles and maybe waft some Vetiver around to go with the lovely pic Yashmis posted upthread about retreating beneath the tree roots. The first one reminded me of Arthur Rackham's illustrations.
warning, vast wormhole ahead www.artpassions.net/rackham/rackham.html

I have a kazillion things unfinished and every glance sees a must-do task, so I'll probably be reading rather than posting much on this thread.

Welcome to all the new people, your paths sound so interesting and a big hello again to all who have returned, it's lovely to see you all, come and join all the regulars, grab a cushion or two by the fire and sit awhile.

If anyone's having difficulty letting go of all the busy things that distract at this time of the year, sometimes a story helps, this is one of my favourites

Shock Fallen down that Arthur Rackham wormhole Blank Grin

EnchantersNightshade · 04/12/2018 07:40

Hello there YashmisCrone Grin

Thanks for posting that Arthur Rackham link BlankTimes Mesmerising stuff. Very reminiscent of Margaret Tarrant, although she was around a bit later. (A little out of the cycle but her Midsummer Night here is a favourite of mine).

EnchantersNightshade · 04/12/2018 07:55

And I find this whole gathering that's assembled here a giant wormhole! Which is why I rarely have the energy to come back & join in Grin

Amazing speakout how your little post on MN back on the 6th May can gather so much energy Star

Was a very special morning again. A crunchy frost & a sky that kept on giving. The moon, Venus & Spica were all beautifully aligned in a clear sky & I watched as dawn broke, the east sky reddened illuminating multiple aeroplane trails & the day began.

I hope everyone finds some magic in their day today too.

speakout · 04/12/2018 08:08

EnchantersNightshade

I saw the crisp celestial display at dawn too.
So frosty here, the air is sharp and clear.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 04/12/2018 08:32

I missed Spica but did see Venus this morning. So beautiful! The upside to frosty mornings is that you can see the stars clearly.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/12/2018 09:02

The frost this morning makes me smile. I am considering the worm hole of snow magic.

daydreamdaisy · 04/12/2018 09:16

Hello! Long time lurker and witchy appreciator. You are all fab.

Just wondering, has anyone any experience with French Cartomancy? I suddenly and randomly felt like opening a pack I bought over a year ago and did a couple of readings for myself and DH, was really surprised by how pertinent they seemed despite not having any experience of a 36-card deck like this!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 04/12/2018 09:25

Hi Daydreamdaisy, French Cartomancy is a Lenormand deck (based on the cards supposedly used by French fortune teller Mlle Lenormand. They are what I’d call traditional cartomantic cards - strong on prediction and actual fortune telling rather than reflective, exploration of self.

A fab tool to have - one of my favourites.

PerfectlyGoodAtBeingBad · 04/12/2018 10:01

Morning,
What do you do to get your mojo back or to pick yourself up after feeling a little low? I'm having a lavender bath this morning with some hot tea while forgetting the world a little.
What is your go to? Just curious Brew

Incrediblehulky · 04/12/2018 10:07

Hello and good morning everyone! May I join please? I'm still working my way through the past threads and very much enjoying getting to know you all and am so appreciative of all the wisdom here you are sharing. I'm just beginning my journey on the witchy path, having struggled for many years to find a path which feels truly me and where I feel at home within a framework in which to go through the many pains and joys that life brings. I don't know what opened my eyes to this path but then I found this thread and suddenly everything made sense! At last it feels like I can have a breather from the spiritual searching because it's already here - if that makes sense?!....😊
