YashmisCrone

Those are beautiful photos, that must have been a lovely walk.

Violet I am very impressed that you manage to do yoga before bed.
My energy takes a nose dive around 7pm, I manage very little after that time.
DD goes back to her Uni flat tomorrow. I find the goodbye sad, and it's silly, she stays 8 miles from home, I see her a lot and text each other a great deal, she is home a great deal.
When she is gone I am totally fine, get myself immersed in projects, I enjoy the fact I don't have as much laundry to do or clearing up etc, I am happy.
It's just the symbolic act of seeing her off with a suitcase that gets me every time.
It's not rational.

Funny how these things work Speakout I always have slight envy and am impressed by those who naturally wake early and can do all the things in the morning. I find mornings hard, and right now I am ready for a good long walk - like a couple of hours worth. Unfortunately work means that I have to fight my natural routine and try to sleep. I am podcasting and knitting having banned myself from any further research tonight other than writing a to do list.

Perhaps you are sad because every time she leaves because each time she is getting closer to her final fledging from her childhood home to total independence? Which would be totally rational.

It's just the symbolic act of seeing her off with a suitcase that gets me every time.

I can relate to that. I struggle with the actual moments of goodbyes too- I avoid it if I can. As you say, it’s something about the symbolism and therefore poignancy of that moment I think. I can’t find the words to explain it but understand what you mean.

Sorry to hear you didn’t get that walk Hills, as you inspired me to do my errands on foot I’ll happily share the energy of mine with you! Hope it’s a possibility for you soon

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/01/2019 22:57

It's ok Yashmis i have problems with muscle spasms in my legs atm so it would from that point probably have been a bad idea. Always happy to share the inspiration though. The energy was strong today. PLenty to go around Grin

Flying visit once again, it's been absolutely lovely to read all of your posts, the support here is incredible.

Don't know if anyone's interested in Qigong, but if you are, there's a free audio book download and two videos that you may enjoy for a different form of self-nurture from Robert Peng, I like his work. As ever, if it resonates embrace it and if not just let it pass by Halloween Smile

BlankTimes · 10/01/2019 01:00

Apologies, I'm too tired to be of any use at all today, here's the link for the free audio book download and two videos that you may enjoy for a different form of self-nurture from Robert Peng.

Morning all. Another cold and frosty one. I do love this weather though, the sky is beautiful and live seeing the frost on the trees and the mist rising from the ground. It makes my journey to work much more enjoyable.

Speakout i'm the total opposite to you, I can't function to do yoga early on the morning. Evenings suit me better, it's good to have a stretch after sitting at a desk all day!

Blanktimes thank you for that link. I like to listen to audio books in the car so will look forward to this on the journey home.

Hope you all have a good day 🙏

Good morning. A cold damp and grey start here.
I have to take DD supermarket shopping for food before she goes back to Uni flat today.
But have to wait in this morning for Central heating engineer to come - routine annual check.
Which is a pain.
I notice I have an unused ice candle holder in the freezer, so I will use that as a treat to myself later once DD has gone.

I would love to be able to burn incense more, but have to wait for days that my mother is out- incense is one of the "iffy" - demonic- things in her book.
That's fine, makes it even more special on the days I do get to use it.

Good evening everyone.

I 'd have incense withdrawal symptoms speakout! I burn it most evenings. I am about to try burning my first attempt at kyphi. It's been curing for over a year so must be ready by now! It smells glorious in its dry form so will probably smell terrible when I actually burn it....

Been running around all day but don't feel I've achieved anything actually useful.

Sokere · 10/01/2019 19:33

Same here Elphame, not achieving much at all but I am enjoying being out in these crisp, bright days. I don't burn incense but I think I'd like to try. Is it supposed to assist meditative trance like states?

Thanks Blank for those links and nice to see you. Hope everyone is having a lovely evening.

certainlymerry · 10/01/2019 19:48

Hills - I had problems with spasms in my legs which were gradually getting worse and worse. I started taking vitamin D and calcium and they immediately stopped! Might be worth thinking about?

Speakout - I understand how you feel about your daughter. I feel exactly the same. A mini bereavement at every goodbye. It's lovely you have such a great relationship with both of them.

certainlymerry · 10/01/2019 19:49

Loving the beautiful photos of nature!

speakout · 10/01/2019 20:03

A quiet evening here.
Dropped of DD at her flat- sad for 15 minutes, did a qick tidy of her room- won't be sorted in a day!!

Then thrown myself into work today- it has been very satisfying, all the more so as I have had around 3 weeks off, so I am tackling it with a fresh energy.
Also will be at yoga early tomorrow, so I am keeping busy.

TooManyPaws · 10/01/2019 20:12

I ordered a whole lot of Nag Champa incense sticks from Amazon, arriving tomorrow; I love the scent and can't wait.

Speakout I'm surprised that your mother thinks that incense is of the devil, given the clouds of it in Roman Catholic, Orthodox and High Anglican churches! Quite a few pagans shop in church supply stores - I got a whole box of small white candles from the Catholic supplies shop that used to be on The Mound in Edinburgh.... 😂

TooManyPaws

I bought the Nag Champa selecction box for myself a couple of months ago- lots of lovely fragrances .

YashmisCrone · 10/01/2019 20:42

Another nag champa fan here! I buy it in bulk too.

Hope your incense smells as good when it’s burning Elphame 🤞

speakout that sounds like a lovely energy you’re bringing to your work. I’ve been catching up with the business side of mine but haven’t committed to any client work until next week.

I felt so nourished by the river yesterday that I made time to go back and explore a different part of it today. Just an hour out of the day and I was glad I made the effort. I was treated to seeing beautiful snowdrops in bloom and a heron (I think!) who swooped off as quick as she arrived! Magic Smile

Yashmis your pictures are so beautiful. Is this close to where you live?

I'm not keen on incense, I find it a bit too intense. I'm ok with it if it's used in a hall while I'm doing yoga or meditation, but I don't use it at home. I love candles though, and essential oils in my burner.

I had a strange experience last night. I was laying in bed, listening to some meditative music, when I became aware of someone putting their arms around me and just holding me (I don't have a partner). It sounds rather creepy written down, but at the time I just felt a sense of deep love and protection and was aware it was a male energy. I dropped off to sleep and when I woke up it was like nothing had happened. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

YashmisCrone · 10/01/2019 22:46

Violet

Yes, just a short walk away- I’m very lucky. Funny as I really haven’t connected with the place as in the community and vibe here but connecting with the nature that’s so close to my doorstep is really helping.

Wow! That sounds incredible. I haven’t experienced anything like it but is sounds very special and meaningful. I’ll be interested to hear if others have experienced anything similar.

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/01/2019 22:49

Thanks certainlymerry for that suggestion. Unfortunately, I am already on 2,000UI vit D daily. I have chronic illnesses and it is a combination of them, a bit of unused to exercise - on a build up program, and a calcium & magnesium deficiency. It is a case of suffering to improve but a very tricky balance to push just enough without pushing too much. Hoping to de-teen boy the bathroom thoroughly and have a long epsom salt bath this weekend with a good book.

Yashmis that heron is pretty. Glad you managed to get back out! It has been so foggy here it has looked like someone rubbed out the sky. Very atmospheric but not so walk inspiring.

I'm surprised that your mother thinks that incense is of the devil, given the clouds of it in Roman Catholic, Orthodox and High Anglican churches! You should hear my Lutheran mother on the topic. She is not a fan of its use in Churches. It just shows the differences between the denominations.
There was an interesting program about the development of the church, pope's power and Orthodox churches on the radio this morning. I love it when they have educational stuff on when I am heading into work.

Violent yes. Sorry I can't expand atm. But the response to your question is yes

KizzyWayfarer · 11/01/2019 07:24

Good morning all. Just wanted to add my voice to those admiring Yashmis beautiful pictures! Wishing you all peace and strength for the day ahead.

Sokere · 11/01/2019 07:55

Good morning everyone,

@VioletCharlotte Yes, experienced similar to you. A sensation of something sitting on top of me/the bed sometimes. Like you, always found it comforting. I feel more of those psychic/spiritual connections lately. It is like a hazy feeling circling me when I'm out walking or just sitting quietly. I know it could be my imagination but I'm often concentrating on unrelated issues, shopping, family stuff, general day to day worries, not trying to be meditative at all. Strange but nice.

speakout · 11/01/2019 09:35

violet

I have not experienced that, but it sounds comforting.

A bright morning here.

And loud birds chirping this morning.

I could hear them at relaxation at the end of my yoga class, and now I am home I can hear them chirruping in the garden.

Such a welcome sound.

I have a big pot of lentil soup bubbling on the stove as I work this morning.

Yes, I have been "held" before. I am also single and was alone in the house at the time. I was sat on the sofa. It was wonderfully comforting, I have no idea who it was. I have also felt someone place their hands on my feet when I was trying to meditate, again I was alone, it felt lovely and comforting.

Love this thread, the fascinating stories and the gentle support. Its a lovely place to "be".
