How about Neals Yard products Speakout? They do some really lovely stuff (including massage oils), and are made with essential oils and don't contain any chemicals.

VioletCharlotte · 09/12/2018 13:58

And yes please to the candle connection 😊

speakout · 09/12/2018 14:02

Just ordered the Neals Yard Ginger and Juniper oil= just what I was looking for, thanks.

I shall join in the candle connection :)

Have been out this morning at a child's (noisy) birthday party. Nice to be home in relative peace and quiet now!

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/12/2018 15:02

I hope to be able to join the candle lighting on the 23rd, however we have a day of family stuff so not sure if possible yet. it will depend on how the day pans out and if I am needed to run people home. Trains are terrible atm.

Just spent a lovely hour wondering around a local garden centre. The garden center was bonkers but I had zoned out entirely (partly a side effect from last night's activity) so came home with 1 decoration and 2 plants. One for ds' room if he wishes it and a white Christmas cactus for me. I have a giant christmas cactus that is pink that goes in the lounge but I wanted a smaller one for my room because I spend a lot of time in there. If ds would rather not have the plant in his room it is the perfect size to fit into mine. I am currently feeling the need to surround myself with plants.

Glad that you have managed to get your MIL's present sorted Speakout

A quick catch up of the last few pages:

Yes, I'd love to join in with the candle connection.

I was undergoing investigation for exhaustion/Me when coincidentally the rheumatologist found out that I was very deficient in Vitamin D. Ever since, I have been on a prescription level and double it up to the original dose over the winter. That has helped immensely but I still need to get long sleeps and I need to get my SAD light out now.

Mercury ☿ went direct on Friday if I remember correctly. I have little stickers for my planner and now the cats have bought me The Witch's Planner for Yule I expect to be even more organised.... 😂

I love my heated throw from Aldi for my knees - Lidl have one in from today. I also use heated lavender wheat bags especially at work; I can't use anything with heating ingredients on my skin like Tiger Balm or Deep Heat. Comfrey is very good for healing though; I used it when I had a foot fusion.

Great you can join us for the candle connection and thanks for the suggestions.

Many people see my MIL as a very scary formidable woman, she has a very formal way, but she is such a sweetheart really- she knows I feel that way too, She is really a pussycat.

Oh good! Glad one of the oils was right for your MIL speakout I do like a tick on a list!

Speaking of which Paws that heated throw sounds like a great idea for someone I have on my list- I may drive to work via Lidl in the morning 👍

After my dynamo day yesterday, I had a real slump today. (My energy levels seem to be on rapid cycle atm!) Now feeling much better for a candlelit salt and essential oil bath with a chakra balancing meditation. Just what I needed

Violet I hope you’re doing ok now the numbness will have worn off Flowers

Wishing everyone a restorative evening ready for the week ahead 💫

sockportal · 09/12/2018 20:44

Count me in for the candle connection. I would like to contribute more to this thread but my DD is teething and full of rage. Sending positive thoughts and wishes to everyone here

Incrediblehulky · 09/12/2018 22:37

Good evening to all. I'm just off to bed and thought I'd pop in to say hello to you all. I am very intrigued by the idea of a heated throw - my cats would love that! I'll be off to Lidl tomorrow to check them out!

I'm sorry I don't have much to say tonight I'm far too tired, but just wanted to say hello and I've enjoyed reading how you all are and what you are up to.

I'd love to take part in the candle connection, what a fantastic idea.

gladheart · 10/12/2018 06:20

I'm join your u for the candle connection too!
I wondered whether, for solstice, it might be nice to share what we've tried from this thread (and results) too, if anyone is open to this? I've tried so many things with mixed/surprising results.

The cat wasn't to be mine. I've been offered another but she is 9yo and timid. She responded well to me but her age is giving me pause. I've asked tarot if she's mine but keep getting page cards (pentacles several times and swords today). I can't tell if this is a yes or no.

Love and light to all xxxx

gladheart · 10/12/2018 06:20

Please excuse the typos! I'll join you for (etc)

Sokere · 10/12/2018 07:54

It might be difficult for me to join in on the 23rd but I'll light a candle as soon as I'm home.

speakout · 10/12/2018 12:41

Sokere

That would be great.

I appreciate it's a busy time for everyone.

The most beautiful cold day here, feein wintry.

Blue skies, frost covering everything, I doubt it will melt at all today, the sun is so low, only just peeping up above the treeline.

DD is in bed upstairs writing an assignment for University, DS has gone into town to meet a friend for lunch, so a quietish day.

I’d also love to join in with the candle. Currently enjoying the beaches of Noth Wales, hanging curtains, fixing plumping and the 1001 other little jobs that need doing.

Might manage some witchiness at some point but probably not!

VioletCharlotte · 10/12/2018 17:54

Hello all. Thanks to everyone who asked about my tooth. It's no better unfortunately 😢 After the numbness wore off I was in loads of pain again. I've been back to the dentist and now have antibiotics, which I hate taking, but hopefully will get rid of the infection.

Feel like my immunity must be pretty low as I've had one thing after the other over the last month - uti, upset stomach, now this.

owlshooting · 10/12/2018 19:02

I've recently got a heated throw! It's absolute bliss! On a cold night , when you can't get warm it's great. I wish I had known about them years ago. I got mine from Amazon.

I would love to join the candle meditation but think it is probably a long shot, just before Christmas.
Violet - lots of sympathy, that tooth pain sounds awful. I do hope the antibiotics make you feel much better soon.
Speakout - you sound like you need an assistant!!

rivierliedje · 10/12/2018 22:22

I will be on a plane at 4 on the 23rd, but will join in in the evening. I enjoy candles and have an advent one at the moment which I really like lighting.
It has suddenly turned icy and I love that the stars are bright and the crescent moon is so orange. It is really helping with the very long nights.
I have been feeling very tired and lethargic, slept for a long time on both weekend days, much later than I usually would. But had disturbing dreams too, which don't help, I suppose.
Yesterday I sent up a letter, which I burnt. We used to send our christmas letters that way, but I don't have a fireplace here (something I sorely miss) so had to stand by a window with a candle :)

KizzyWayfarer · 10/12/2018 23:08

Hi all
I posted ages ago (thread before last?) but have been lurking since as just emerged from a crazy busy time at work. I’m feeling like I want to appreciate this time of year but keep Christmas at arms length for a while still. Today that meant: crows flying in front of bare branches and winter sky; the smell of flowers on a Viburnum tree; damp leaf mould; orange sunset; buds on trees waiting for spring. Unfortunately communing with nature doesn’t actually remove the need to think of something to buy DH for Christmas... will have to return to that conundrum tomorrow.

speakout · 11/12/2018 06:29

Morning all- getting the tree today!

Excited. So I will tidy the main room, still have to get the decorations down from the attic. then pop out to our local garden centre this morning to buy a huge tree that will be difficult to fit into the car.

I am looking forward to the fragrance and the vitality that the tree will bring into the house.

Sokere · 11/12/2018 07:56

That sounds lovely speakout..that smell of pine is so beautiful. I can tell how excited you are too!

@VioletCharlotte I'm sorry you're still suffering. The antibiotics should kick in fast though. Sending you healing thoughts and big hugs Flowers

speakout · 11/12/2018 08:15

I am determined to have a fun christmas this year.

Last year was not good.
The boiler packed in we were without heating for most of December, and boiler had to be relocated to another floor, so holes in walls, floors us to relay pipework and electrics.

DS was going through a bad period of depression, and three of us had Australian flu.
All social events were cancelled, no one felt festive.

But this year- is good so far, DS much happier, we all seem well, and the house is warm.

So this year I want to make things a little extra special..

If anyone is looking for a nice pine fragrance - I bought some IKEA pine tea lights, pack of 20 for £1.35.
They have a really nice smell- I'm not usually one for synthetic fragrances, but theses are lovely, sweet and subtle.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 11/12/2018 09:07

They sound perfect Speakout! and I have to brave ikea anyway as my wardrobe collapsed yesterday. Didn't owe me anything but timing sucks and I have no idea what to replace it with, and could have done without the additional to do list.
