Those pictures of trees are beautiful. I'm jealous of you all who have beautiful gardens, mine is a tiny little one with a small patch of grass, a trampoline and some decking! I'd love to have trees, lots of nature and plants.

Glad things are a bit calmer speakout and it worked out ok with the church friends visiting.

I ordered some lovely things from an online holistic shop which arrived today, a lovely carved wooden box for my essential oils, a silver hare pendant and some tarot cards that came with a book too. I went for the Wildwood Tarot as felt drawn to the pictures in it, may start having a look tonight.

Inthetempest those things all sound gorgeous and I love the look of your new cards. The artwork is beautiful.

Speakout glad things worked out ok for you.

Update on the uti. I bought some d-mannose this morning and have been taking it every 2 hours. Touch wood, things do seem to have settled a bit. I've been meditating and sleeping this afternoon so feeling more relaxed. So relieved, I'm going to Devon tomorrow to a yoga retreat and was so worried the uti would ruin it.

speakout · 15/11/2018 19:27

VioletCharlotte

So glad things seem to be better.

I have a sick response to emotional situations.

I suspect Mr speakout has great magical abilities,

A man of few words, a lot of coincidences and strange things follow him around.

He has never pursued them as I do, but it has been noticed by others- and especially in work situations.

I'm looking forward to having a proper look at them violet, I loved the look of them and was able to have a good look in the Henge Shop in Avebury before buying them. Glad the UTI is improving for you. Is it normal to get a swollen abdomen with a UTI does anyone know? This has been happening to me- there were white blood cells in a urine sample but they have yet to give me antibiotics as I had no 'active' symptoms such as visible blood or stinging anymore. Being checked out again tomorrow so hopefully they will help me this time..

TooManyPaws · 16/11/2018 01:11

speakout Is this your home which your mother lives in? I must admit that I would be very tempted to point out that it is your home and that you are not her cook or housekeeper! Mind you, my father wasn't backwards in speaking either and my mother was an iron fist in an extremely well-padded velvet glove. I think it is extremely rude of your mother to dare to move your possessions when you are allowing her to have all these groups in your house. Perhaps she could entertain them in her room instead as well as providing food for them herself. Did she have the courtesy to ask in advance? When I lived with other people, we would always ask the others before inviting an invading group of people in.

speakout · 16/11/2018 06:26

TooManyPaws

Morning.

Yes she lives with me in my house. She always tends top wrap things in a sugar coated helpless way.
I am so good and fast at making a round of hot chocolate, she would " mess it up".
It's the witchcraft paraphenalia that tends to upset church members, paganism is not viewed as simply another religion- which would be tolerated- but something fat more sinister.

She doesn't want her church friends to think she is playing any part, not that I do either.

Sorry I fear I am introducing negativity here.

You women have given me such courage to come out of the broom closet- it has been incredibly liberating, and my life is going well in many areas.

Up early to yoga this morning, not sure what today will bring, apart from some work.

I hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Morning all!

Just catching up on the thread. I was feeling definitely out of sorts yesterday so had a nice warm bath with salts and rosemary oil whilst reading a book I recently bought for £4 in The Works called The Green Witch.

Slept the sleep of the just (as my mother would say) and have woken up much better.

Enjoying reading all the contributions. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Giggorata · 16/11/2018 09:35

Morning all,
Loved hearing about all your trees.
We have only a small garden (the one before was mainly trees) but we have managed to include yew, ash, elder, rowan, apple, hawthorn, cherry, holly and one ornamental tree I don't know the name of, but has masses of red berries.. It all helps to sustain our little colony of sparrows.

Work is taking up far too much of my time at the moment, and I seem to have sleepwalked into a sort of Interfaith thing, based on diversity and “be yourself at work”. Hmm
I am not certain if this will be at all for me; I have never involved myself in any such stuff before... I’m not sure that the Craft and paganism generally has enough in common with the monotheistic faiths that seem to predominate in these sort of things.
I'll discuss it with my coven tomorrow.
Anyone got any thoughts or insights?

Sokere · 16/11/2018 09:51

@speakout. I don't think you bring any negativity. It must be difficult, very difficult at times, I imagine to co-exist. But I'm glad things were able to settle for you.

@Giggorata I guess it depends on the organisation? I understand the Police have Pagan associations but not sure about anyone else.

speakout · 16/11/2018 10:07

Sokere

You are very kind.

Giggorata I agree with Sokere you won't be able to tell until you try- lets hope you are pleasantly surprised.
Depends on the other members too and their faith. Some religions/christian denominations are open to paganism, others not.

I have heard of christian witches, and there are Celtic Christian traditions that seem to span the philosophies easily.

Good luck. I hope you find it a supportive environment.

Elphame · 16/11/2018 10:31

InTheTempest - I have that set - the artwork is lovely.

@Giggorata - I got sucked in a few years ago to the local one. I was made very welcome by all the representatives I spoke to from the other faiths - it's the more open minded ones who tend to involve themselves anyway. I chose not to continue being active for quite other reasons - all personal to me and no reflection on the interfaith movement. I'm still on the list as the local "pagan" member as no one else has come forward to replace me!

@speakout - quite honestly I'm amazed at your patience. I'd have probably erupted a long time ago. Having to hide in your own home must be incredibly hard never mind being asked to cater for those who are so small minded that you have to. Rant away - I'd certainly need a pressure release valve if I was in your situation.

Lovely day yesterday talking about making magical oils with a friend. Today though I'm spending doing a "speakout" and dewitching the main part of the house. We have some very xtian friends staying for the weekend. I'm sure they suspect but they never ask and I never tell! It's amazing how many books seep out into the sitting room not to mention other witchy paraphilia.

speakout · 16/11/2018 10:49

Elphame

Thanks for your words.

Amazing how the witchy stuff seeps out, it becomes invisible to me! Bottle of oils, crystals, books. So part of my life that I have to do a " is it pagan " check in my head.

My mother is elderly and emotionally ( though not physically) frail.
She does not do blow ups or straight talking.

Hope your weekend goes well.

Good afternoon,
Hope everyone’s day is going well and that there’s a a bit of magic to be experienced within it 💫

Violet good to hear you’ve found something that seems to be easing things a bit. Hope the yoga retreat is rejuvenating

Sokere I love the angel oak pictures. Oak are my favourite tree and so it transpires, my ‘birth tree’ I have a lovely, earthy oak tree Essence perfume from Starchild. It’s very comforting and speaks to my need for grounding.

Gee I’d be interested to hear about the Green Witch when you’ve read it. Sounds right up my street.

Giggorata I hope your adventures into multi faith diversity are a positive experience. I look forward to hearing how that goes.

speakout I agree with the others that you don’t bring negativity here. On the contrary, I sense you as a positive and resilient force amongst us. A dynamic energy.
I like that this thread is for support as well as knowledge sharing and discussion. Like Elphame says, being able to vent is an important part of that.

I’ve said it before but I do empathise with coming up against the view that my practices are wrong and even sinister/dangerous within the family. I’m quite private about it these days. Partly because I don’t want to have to defend myself and my beliefs but also because it feels very personal to me. I quite like that. I can understand how you feel compromised to say the least. It’s also encouraging to hear of the liberating feeling of being more ‘out and proud’ something to think about.

YashmisCrone · 16/11/2018 15:33

Oh, I meant to add a link for the tree essences in case anyone was interested!

Yashmi a really good book about the chakra system is ‘Eastern Body, Western Mind’. It’s very comprehensive and looks at typical symptoms of imbalances.

Loving all the tree talk - I follow a path of Druidry so trees are pretty special to me. One day I’d like to have a garden big enough to plant my own grove of trees for my ritual work.

InTheTempest · 16/11/2018 17:22

In agreement with yashmis, I don't feel any negativity at all, quite the opposite, and I love reading about everyone's lives and experiences. It's actually nice that we all share the struggles as this feels a lovely supportive place. Very positive.

I had an awful night last night, hardly any sleep and a lot if back pain. Seems my uti has maybe spread to my kidneys but after going to hospital today I now have some antibiotics. I'm so grateful to have my lovely mum who is looking after my DC whilst I feel poorly.

yashmis I'd love to try those tree wisdom perfumes, I'm hoping to get to Glastonbury again soon to smell them. I've had an order arrive from star child today, a lovely ceramic oil burner and some oils.

YashmisCrone · 16/11/2018 18:02

Ooh, thank you boldly I’ll have a look for that Smile

Tempest good idea to smell them! I ordered mine purely based on it being oak, luckily I loved it! I think it was Elphame who said that whoever blends the oils there is a perfumer so the blends are lovely.

So sorry to hear you’re feeling rotten with the UTI/kidneys. I know how painful that can be. I’m glad you’ve got your lovely mum and am sending healing thoughts your way Flowers

InTheTempest · 16/11/2018 18:33

yashmis thank you. It has been quite upsetting actually as it's been really hard to get them to actually do anything about it, and it's got worse in that time. It's my fault as when I first had bleeding and the awful burning, I didn't stay in the walk in centre as it would have meant waiting about 6 hours. I will do that for the DC but not myself! I don't have the burning etc anymore but the back pain isn't nicenough at all. Thank you for the healing thoughts, I'm going to see if my crystals and things can help too.

Yes I thought it would be a good idea to try the perfumes first, want to make sure I choose the one I like best. I spend far too much money in star child! Grin

Nevada · 16/11/2018 19:34

Hi again. I wanted to ask what you do about altars. If you're not comfortable wih praying to deities, do you still have an altar? Or some other kind of centre or focus? I just have a candle lit at the moment. Nice, but not a lot going on!

teaandtoast · 16/11/2018 19:36

Oh and on the uti front, my GP recommended ginger ale to me. I did find it helped.

speakout · 16/11/2018 19:52
