I did a offering type thing recently, not meat or human, but a small token. It's hard to know how to dispose of said offering when done.

BlankTimes · 07/11/2018 17:44

Hi Pawn,

Usually any offerings are small and biodegradable. They'll return to Mother Earth or as you've already made sure they are safe, be eaten by her creatures.

PawneeParksDept · 07/11/2018 17:50

Yes I just dropped them outside, it felt unceremonious somehow

Elphame · 07/11/2018 18:10

I'll be doing the same. Those who follow a kemetic ( ancient Egyptian) path are expected to eat any food offerings themselves afterwards but that doesn't feel right to me. I prefer to return them to the earth and if that provides a free meal for some of the local wildlife then that's all to the good.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 07/11/2018 22:01

I usually leave offerings out too - they are often natural foods anyway.

Elphame, the experience with the woodland sounds intense! In terms of an offering, I think the beef is a good call. Cattle were worth a lot and would have been a high status offering in the past.

Skyejuly · 07/11/2018 22:16

Offerings to earth can be menstrual blood too? Easy if you have a moon cup.

Keep meaning to join in thread more. Love reading things.

speakout · 07/11/2018 22:22

Skyejuly

Welcome.

Menstrual blood is tricky for us crones.

Ah of course! Hmm hope you found a solution? Whatever do you I think you will find a way xx

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 07/11/2018 23:08

My girlfriend came over tonight and we set our intentions together and then read tarot and played with the cats, and it was so blissful. It really made me realise how lonely I sometimes am in my practice. It felt lovely just being next to her and not hiding anything away.

Hope everyone’s having a peaceful new moon x

PawneeParksDept · 07/11/2018 23:10

I did two rituals tonight, one went perfectly, the other I've had to abandon as the candle refused to light after multiple attempts, and I don't think I have another

A signal to abandon or just carry on without and feel half done?

Elphame · 07/11/2018 23:38

Depends really. If the candle was a key part then I'd probably decide it was not meant to be at the moment and try again later with a new candle. If it wasn't the main focus I'd carry on.

TooManyPaws · 08/11/2018 01:00

Elphame I've always used my own blood when sacrifice is required. Likewise, my tools have all been tied to me with blood.

In my first coven, the high priest was an injecting diabetic so there were always nice sterile things to stick yourself with! 😂

Seeing crows... Lots of different opinions, I know but wondered what witches (all kinds, secular and non secular) think.

One today almost held my gaze (as much as a bird can with all that head bobbing) Then 3 flew into the road ahead of me as I walked.. one sat on an electrical box as I walked past, the 2nd on the roof opposite and the third on a lampost. It was eerie. Reading too much into this I wonder?

VioletCharlotte · 08/11/2018 13:06

Bellecose
In spirituality, crows are associated with change. The fact that you're seeing so many around you suggests that change is happening in a particular aspect of your life.

Elphame · 08/11/2018 13:22

@TooManyPaws - yes me too. I think it's a pretty universal practice isn't it?

Bellecose2 I tend to work on the theory that if something is out of place then I should pay attention. Crows and ravens are 10 a penny in my area so I don't ascribe much significance to them. If one did something unusual then I'd take note.

There is also a natural phenomenon that once you start paying attention to something you will start to see it all over the place. I had no idea a certain Japanese car was so common until DP bought one. Now I see them everywhere!

Bellecose2 · 08/11/2018 13:25

Thank you both..

I just did my tarot and expected the death card or the tower. The one that stood out was the 6 of pentacles. Basically advising (paraphrasing slightly) to give monetary assistance to family...The other, Queen of cups which advises against giving too much of myself. The last card, 8 of cups didn't signify much to me. In light of the past few days it's quite a significant reading Hmm

BlankTimes · 08/11/2018 16:48

Bellecose2 I don't read Tarot, (I use the Faeries' Oracle or Heart of Faerie) but was interested enough to look up the general meanings of the cards you mentioned.

IF that was a 3 card spread in that order,

The Six of Pentacles would have been 'what led to the present situation'
www.biddytarot.com/tarot-card-meanings/minor-arcana/suit-of-pentacles/six-of-pentacles/

The Queen of Cups would be the main focus of the current situation.

and the Eight of Cups would be a possible future for the situation.

To me, that seems very relevant to what you've recently posted about, BUT please remember, it's your own interpretation of the cards that you drew which matters, not my possibly erroneous observation.

I agree about seeing loads of whatever you are focusing on, it happens so often, it has to be a thing.

Bellecose2 · 08/11/2018 17:15

@Blank....Thank you for doing that and, yes, I think that was the order (I know the Queen was the middle card)

I'm wondering about the 8 of cups. I actually added a question onto my original post then deleted it. I kind of was questioning whether all the weird things happening were signs to stop or carry on e.g small fires, unwanted visitors in my garden (my own fault for burying offerings in the earth) and then the crows. I'm also torn because I'm rational (ha!) and so am thinking that outside of spell work, phenomena shouldn't /wouldn't happen.

I don't know tbh. Really don't know so thank you for taking the time

boldlygoingsomewhere · 08/11/2018 17:35

Bellecose, this would be my spin on those cards. Feel free to ignore if totally irrelevant. Smile
Six of Pentacles - Queen of Cups - Eight of Cups
The first card shows an energy of giving - charity, helping those less fortunate, sharing what you have. However, with all energy exchange, there is a danger of imbalance. One party can be giving too much or taking too much. Which one you see yourself as is quite important to be able to correct this.
Queen of Cups people are very empathetic, caring and nurturing. However, because they are so aware of emotions, they are also adept at manipulating. In a negative sense, they can guilt-trip and make other people feel bad. Co-dependency can be a feature.
The Eight of Cups signals a time to walk away from it all and start afresh. Emotional distance is needed.

Elphame · 08/11/2018 17:41

Once you start down the magical path all bets are off. At first I was able to compartmentalise - no longer. Witchiness blends into mundane life and vice versa.

Tarot is only a guide to possible outcomes - my reading of the 8 of cups there would be a warning not to be too generous with your resources or you risk being taken advantage of . Practice self care and remember to set boundaries.

Bellecose2 · 08/11/2018 18:10

Thank you both... a lot to consider.

speakout · 08/11/2018 18:19

I totally agree with this.

For me there is no distinction.

My life is magical. I see signs and meanings and answers and messages and direction everywhere.

I see magical significance in cleaning my home, drinking tea, hanging laundry.
When I leave the house I small the air- the scent changes so much and sets the tone for me, I watch the skies, the clouds. the birds, the responses of animals,

The mundane is magic to me.

every time that my 'rational' mind takes hold and explains away any 'signs'.....without fail the universe will practically slap me round the face with a wet cod.
Every time, there will be some sign or message that is so big that it simply cannot be explained away. These often happen when I am becoming disconnected from my path and need pulling back to it - usually for the sake of my mental health.

I have started writing. They are dreams, but all connected and I am writing them as they come and then at some point I will have to arrange them to a time frame and connect them up somehow. At least two of these dreams have been re-occuring for over 20 years. Something happened to me a few weeks ago that made me realise I NEED to write this now.

Bellecose2 · 08/11/2018 22:13

Oops sorry, missed your replies.

Thank you both... Like the wet cod analogy Smile
