Any witches here?

Or Wiccans. or Pagans?

I was raised as a witch- my grandmother was born in 1890 and taught me how to scry, knotwork, many magical activities. She was a dresser of the dead and a lay midwife ( before the NHS).
I now practice my craft with enthusiasm.
A little tricky as my extended family are not supportive.

Scotland, near Edinburgh.

Speakout. I noticed there is not much over the border. Would you consider running one yourself? Sometimes I only get 1 or 2 turn up to Mine, sometimes 20. I run them regardless. We are relocating to Skye at end of year and I will be running red tent retreats (and I don't agree with extortionate prices!) I just want to share the knowledge. I know Skye is miles FROM Edinburgh but happy to help x

It sounds very interesting. I need to learn more. Is there a website?

Brilliant. How exciting!!! Good luck. Here for whatever you need to know. I am doing a crone workshop in Glastonbury next month x

speakout · 20/05/2018 12:19

Such exciting stuff going on!
A crone workshop. Brilliant.
I am at the crone stage and it is just wonderful. This is the best episode of my life so far.
I would love to start a Red Tent, but not enough hours in the day.
My business is really taking off, ( handmade pagan and witchcraft supplies) and I have so much on the back burner in terms of business development, but just not enough hours in the day.
Plus like many of us I have family and commitments

Does anybody have any advice on how to change a household where everyone is feeling quite angry and frustrated? All advice is gratefully received. I’ll try anything!

speakout · 20/05/2018 14:10

LARLARLAND
I suspect most families go though this from time to time, but don't beat yourself up about it.
Many approaches I would take. Depends what you feel intuitively is the best way to go.
I would firstly do some cleansing. A physical spring clean, followed by smudging, uplifting essential oils, using purification salt.
I would firstly work on easing things for yourself. I am the queen pin in our family. I am very aware that if I am in a good place emotionally and energetically then I have a huge positive influence on other family members. So in your case I would do some self care- magically or otherwise. I exercise, do yoga, cast some self love spells, work with my crystals. Putting myself in a good place is absolutely key.
Then you could try a spell to ease the troubles of certain family members, an anger release spell, ease of mind spell, opening up communication spell.
For general family work I do a Happy Family spell, a Home Blessings Spell, a Harmony Spell.
Please don't feel powerless.

Thank you speakout. I am definitely the positive, practical influence within the family and I am feeling a bit low so it’s interesting you should say that. I’ll certainly have a look at your suggestions.

Such an interesting thread.
Does anyone know if any resources of groups in N Ireland ?

speakout · 20/05/2018 16:11

FilledSoda Hi. Love the place you live btw, wonderful place.
I don't know of any Ulster groups, but I can say that within my business I sell a huge - amount of pagan supplies to Northern Ireland.

Hi.

redtentdirectory.com/listing/rt_area/northern-ireland/

Have you looked Here?

Tiddlywinks63 · 20/05/2018 17:00

What a fascinating thread!
My mum's the daughter of the seventh son of a seventh son and purportedly has 'powers' according to her, but never used them.
I'm 64 now and can (and have) dowse.
I also seem to be increasingly experiencing seemingly random thoughts that come true - is that dêja vue?
I've always had an affinity with animals and the countryside and am at my happiest in my garden or walking in fields. I would love to explore and hopefully deepen my knowledge but please tell me, how do you start?

i would love to have a go at dowsing!

My dad always said me and my ma were witches!

I also am really interested in the reflection curse thing, there have been a few people in my life who I have jokingly cursed in a "I hope you get your comeuppance sooner rather than later" "enough rope and they'll hang themselves" way, so maybe I have been reflecting their own badness back to them? I don't really ever wish people ill, but I like to think their badness will catch up with them if I concentrate hard enough.

I like to watch the seasons and the weather, moon and stars, light and dark

DH says my first cat and one of my dogs were more familiars than pets, really precious relationships with the both of them which I haven't had with other pets.

speakout · 20/05/2018 18:22

MsHomeSlice Dowsing- yes. Huge oil companies Exxon, BP employ dowsers to locate resources- at expense, to detect underground resources, oil, solid fuel, obstacles etc.

speakout · 20/05/2018 18:25

And the revenge spell- is part of the range kits that I sell, which allow everyone to perform witchcraft.
My revenge spell kit is a reflection/ mirror spell. It simply reflects bad energy back to the source. No bad karma involved in casting the spell.

speakout could you tell me how to go about developing possible skills I may have? Are there workshops where I could find out more?

ReginaOcarina · 20/05/2018 18:51

@speakout could I please be cheeky and ask if you have a website for your shop and if so for a link please?

WhatTheWaterShowedMe · 20/05/2018 19:02

I’m another hedge witch. Have been interested in magic since I was a child and have an affinity with the woods. Witchcraft has been of an increasing interest to me since I became a parents and more interested in feminism.

I tend to gravitate towards the darker side of things- I feel drawn to the more warlike, vengeful archetypes of The Goddess (I don’t believe in a literal goddess but see it as a helpful shorthand for Nature/ my own inner strength).

Have just started reading The Holy Book of Women’s Mysteries by Z Budapest as Dianic Wicca intrigued me. Agree that I am not keen on heirachry in Wicca though.

VileyRose · 20/05/2018 19:41

No problem RE links. I hope they help
The email on that site is usually quite good at replies too!

I love all the stories here.

Whatthewater: I feel the same. The Goddess is what I describe as energies of myself and archetypes etc. Oh I do love a bit of Goddess work. I'm really drawn to Morganna and Cerridwen.
