Any witches here?

Or Wiccans. or Pagans?

I was raised as a witch- my grandmother was born in 1890 and taught me how to scry, knotwork, many magical activities. She was a dresser of the dead and a lay midwife ( before the NHS).
I now practice my craft with enthusiasm.
A little tricky as my extended family are not supportive.

Following the sigil discussion with great interest. I have been wanting to create something for my home for a while now, and love the idea of charging it with the full moon’s energy. Since reading this thread I feel so much more in touch with things like the moon cycle and just nature in general. Find this thread so inspirational.

queenrollo · 26/07/2018 21:45

I'm connecting with the moon much more in recent years. I started reading Lisa Lister's stuff about menstrual cycles and how they tie in with the moon phases. I previously always bled with the full moon, but over time my cycles have adjusted and I am now bleeding with the New/Dark moon. I'm reading more into this and have adjusted how I work with energy to make the most of the moon and where I am in my cycle. I avoid certain spells/ritual at my time of the month because I realised that my mood was influencing them negatively.

Blood moon tomorrow!

Lunar eclipse.

@speakout I am preparing my ritual for tomorrow. I went to the Frida Kahlo exhibition this week and I am feeling very charged by it. I want to channel that into my spell casting for tomorrow. I am moving into a new phase and am ready for transformation.
I am excited about tomorrow's moon.

I also track Mercury retrogrades as they affect me quite strongly. It went retro today and I am now wearing my tigers eye pendant to help guard me against the negative energy it often brings near me.

speakout · 26/07/2018 22:12

queenrollo I am also affected by Mercury retrogrades.

Today has been haywire.

I'm planning a ritual for tonight too. At the moment my stbxh is living here, and though everything is perfectly amicable we are both in limbo at the moment. So that's what I'm planning on focusing on. Realistically he isn't going to be moving til the kids are back in school at the earliest though - he has been my carer so has no earnings to fall back on, and is very low in the housing priority list as I'm not going to kick him out

Elphame · 27/07/2018 13:24

I've got something planned for tonight too. I'm not sure I'm going to actually see the moon and eclipse here as it's clouded over now and we're forecast rain and storms this evening.

It doesn't actually matter energetically if the clouds are in the way and actually using storm energy in the working would be awesome but I would like to see the colour of the moon

speakout · 27/07/2018 13:57

BeyondRadicalisationPortal sorry to hear of your challenges right now.

You can use the power of this evening to enhance your own energies and strengthen yourself.

Elpmame I agree- it would be nice to see the moon, but we may get storms.
In any case energy is riding high right now, Mercury retrograde, and Mars giving us a close visit too.

Well nothing to see here. Just clouds. And not even any rain as a consolation price.

Still work is done and I can now concentrate on the Lammas rites.

Anyone able to see the eclipse?

Zapholdbeeblebrox · 27/07/2018 23:35

Couldn't see it here either...

Liked how it felt though and did do a bit of a ritual for release and change.

The wind's picking up, still hoping for that storm!

speakout · 28/07/2018 07:17

No eclipse or storm here either.

Has been raining overnight so the garden is lovely and fresh

Couldn't see it early on, but when the moon did peek through, you can just tell some of it is still in darkness...

Plenty.

I have been having a lovely pottering weekend.
Placing salt and tigers eye crystals around the house planting and tending.
My familiar ( cat)was bitten this week and left an infected gaping hole in the side of her chest.
Vet has cleaned the wound and given a long lasting antibiotic injection.
My cat has been sleeping constantly for two days apart from quick toilet breaks and eating.
I have been surrounding her with healing energy.
This morning she is bright and alert- the wound has a clean scab, no signs of infection or swelling, so that is great.

Also looking for ideas- I have a full size real broomstick, as tall as me, and want to decorate and embellish it.
I have ribbons, feathers and crystals galore, I am in no rush, any ideas on pimping my broom?

UnderTheOakTree · 29/07/2018 09:35

speakout you could decorate it as a journey stick - would be a gradual process but a lovely thing to do.

That sounds a lovely idea UnderTheOakTree , I feel so much of my journey has been done though- I am a crone, I have been practicing witchcraft for 50 years.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Gosh what a change in the weather - the garden is loving it but I have to take the dog out in a minute.

Glad your cat is recovering Speakout - I've seen mine this morning for the first time in days! If his food bowls weren't being emptied I'd have been quite worried about him.

No ideas about the broomstick I'm afraid. I have one too but it's just got the traditional phallic head carving and the willow ties. It lives quietly guarding the front door except when it's in use.

speakout · 29/07/2018 10:04

I have bought some peacock feathers, I would also like to incorporate some crystals into the mix too.

I like this

Do you plan to use the broom ritually or is it to be purely decorative?

A friend of mine bought some very pimped brooms in Glastonbury. The maker had incorporated glittery sticks into the broom end and the handle was wrapped in lots of coloured ribbon, some sparkly. They look amazing but are really only ornamental.

Your peacock feathers would look fabulous wired into the broom end with maybe some matching iridescent ribbons on the handle? Do you have a big crystal you could wire onto the top of the handle?

speakout · 29/07/2018 10:19

Thanks Elphame. I don't use it in rituals- I have a small miniature hand made broom for those purposes.

While it will be mostly decorative I don't think it will be able to exist without power!!
A six foot high broom placed in a witch's home is always going to be charged with zing!

OP posts:
Elphame · 29/07/2018 10:49

I don't have much skill in pimping things - this is the best I can do! Sorry about the picture - it was a wee bit windy. This is my ceremonial stang. He should have had a large candle on his head but it was far too windy to even consider it. He also wears seasonal wreaths when in use.

The ribbons are the colours of traditional witchcraft - white (east). red (south) grey (west) and black (north).

That's lovely Elphame- what a lovely place you live!

We had a tremendous storm and downpour on Friday afternoon. I stood barefoot in the garden as it came in and stayed out there and danced and sang got absolutely soaked through. My youngest child joined me too, he kept shouting in delight about the rain.
It was too cloudy to see the moon and eclipse but was still stormy and the energy helped me have a really strong ritual that evening.

Does anyone have tips for being homesick? We are away next week for 10 days and I increasingly find leaving my home is difficult. Fortunately we will be able to get a trip to Glastonbury while away so I am hoping there is something there calling to me, I don't feel there is anything I need but doubtless while browsing the shops something will ask to come home with me.
