Gemstone/crystal for shyness etc...

Can someone help me choose a stone to help with my shyness/no friends problem.

I am generally happy, and get on well with my current friends, but moved to a strange area a few months ago and have yet to make any friends at all. DS1 started nursery last week and I hoped I would make friends with the other mums then but I didn't, so now I'm really disappointed with myself.

I get on well with people once I know them, and like to have a lot of friends, but I'm so shy that even though I can think of a lot of ways of making friends, I never would because my shyness/lack of self-confidence/courage self won't let me.

I work with gemstones and crystals a fair bit, but this is really bothering me to such an extent that I can't think straight, and can't work out which stones I need.

Some ideas I had were lapis lazuli, hematite, ruby, carnelian (better than ruby or not?), aquamarine or moonstone. I already have a rose quartz which helps a bit.

I'd say go for the carnelian, no doubt. Will give you inner confidence and strength.

Thanks, wobblyknicks.

I'd get a palmstone, easy to have round with you when you need it.

Oh, will have a look out for one of those then. Thanks.

What??!!!
Tell me this is a joke...

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 06:52

Why?

babysteffee · 25/06/2004 09:58

Why would it be a joke?

I would go for carnelian for courage, not heard of palmstone.

bs - palmstones are just pieces of whatever stone you choose (such as carnelian), but they're shaped into a flattish oval, so that they fit comfortably into your palm. I'll try and find a link....

papillon · 25/06/2004 10:00

palmstone is the shape... fits in your hand all snug

papillon · 25/06/2004 10:01

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 10:01

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 10:02

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 10:05

I'm in love with the hearts though

gothicmama · 25/06/2004 10:13

They ar rather gorgeous

wobblyknicks · 25/06/2004 10:14

Mmmm - added one to my long list of things I would buy myself if I didn't have a dd to spend money on!!!

babysteffee · 25/06/2004 19:04

Awww those hearts are lovely, I want one too! Would make a lovely gift wouldn't they?

Duh! Realised later what a palmstone was but had no access to a pc.

miranda2 · 26/06/2004 21:24

Just can't believe anyone would want a stone to help them with shyness. Seems utterly bizarre!

wobblyknicks · 27/06/2004 10:51

miranda - some people believe they have properties in them, which is fair enough and other people, like me, use them as reminders to keep focused on something you want to do or achieve. Whether or not the stone itself actually does anything is irrelevant, some people might just find that having the stone reminds them that they want to be confident, and so they act more confident anyway - so it helps them.

As long as it helps, I don't see what's so bizarre about it. You might not believe in it, but if it helps then it doesn't matter.

A much more sensible post than the one I wrote and then deleted WK - afraid mine would have probably kicked off all sorts of arguments and debates about religious intolerance.

wobblyknicks · 27/06/2004 11:08

snugs - that was posted from my sensible side while my more 'interesting' side was sitting chewing through her tongue!!!

Snugs · 27/06/2004 11:17

OUCH!

Think my sensible side is having a Sunday lie-in, really should have some more coffee and wake her up!

wobblyknicks · 27/06/2004 11:18

snugs - its not a good idea, leave her in bed!!! I usually keep my sensible side sedated so she doesn't annoy me!!! But I have to let her out for the odd thread like this, otherwise I'd get into trouble with lou.

Snugs · 27/06/2004 11:23

Good point WK, maybe I'll have de-caff.
But then again, why bother - it's like drinking non-alcoholic beer WHATS THE POINT?

wobblyknicks · 27/06/2004 11:24

Leave off the coffee totally - drink cranberry juice with me.

wobblyknicks · 27/06/2004 11:26

Come in the caff!!!
