LWTG - I'm glad you're still around. If its any comfort, I'm struggling to keep up too! I've tried to keep up re: praying, just not always posting that's what I'm doing.

Another of my posts seems to have gone missing... however I can report that prayers were answered this evening re: a potentially v. difficult PCC meeting. In that all the main protagonists failed to show, yet we JUST achieved quoracy and we were able to get stuff done!

CaptainDippy · 10/01/2007 09:10

Morning - Only a quick pop in as DD's needing attention!!

Morning!! How is everyone today!?

Thank you for those words of encouragement Rosey - Prayer Thread has been going for quite a while now and we've seen loads of fantastic answers to prayers - God is at work - Is v.exciting!! Thank you for reminding us of those important things!!

[[[hugs]] LWTG - Continuing to pray for you - How is it atm?? Keep posting, we'll keep praying ..... (We'll pray even if you don't post tbh, but it is always good to hear from you!! )

Fab stuff about PCC meeting Mary!

Busy day today - friends round this morning and afternoon - please pray my house doesn't get too trashed, I am just too tired in the evenings to tidy up!!

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 09:30

hi podmog! how are things? not long to go now

Toady · 10/01/2007 14:47

Hello everyone

Not really sure what to say but just wanted to thank you for your prayers.

Feel a bit odd about it all because I am not really religious but am amazed at your belief.

My sister Jo is now off all life support but is breathing on her own so we are just waiting for her to go, but I am so confused because I thought the real "Jo" had gone and it was just her body left but is she still in their or is she with .... God ... or is she trapped, or is there just .... nothing.

Want to believe so badly that she is being looked after all.

Anyway I could go on but nothing really much else to say, the thought of people I do not know thinking about me is a massive help, I don't feel so alone.

fannyannie · 10/01/2007 15:03

NAnou - I live in Wellingborough, northamptonshire.

Ladygarden is well, erm, err, it's your pubic hair (even more shocked that FA has said pubic hair on this thread )

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 15:35

ROLF fannyannie!!! thanks for letting me know! english is not my first language you see! rolf you ok?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 15:45

I didn't know what it was either Nanou - so that makes 2 of us!

FA - you're only about an hour away from me! (I live in a village north of Cambridge). So if there is anything I can do, or if you want to meet up sometime, just shout! If for example, you want that travel cot/playpen I have, I could bring it over...

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 15:58

hello Toady... the way i see it is that Jo's soul is floating between earth ; her body, the people she loves and God's pure love and light. Close your eyes for a minute and vizualise a light and "embrace" it. Can you sense your body relaxing and becoming weightless? and only feel positivity and unconditional love, no negativity at all...? for me this represents the tunnel between here and heaven. the closer you get to heaven the better it gets. i think this is where jo is right now but getting closer and closer to heaven. it is very hard to lose someone we love but knowing they are happy makes the physical loss easier to bear - for me anyway [hugs]

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 15:59

lol mary! nice to see you. you ok?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 16:02

Hi Nanou - I'm fine. Thanks for returning my book btw. How are you doing?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 16:06

Bit early, but I was asked to research "Love Life Live Lent" for church, so I thought I'd post info here. It was an initiative by the diocese of Birmingham last year, to do 50 positive things during Lent:

BBC article

the initiative

There's some good stuff on here, although its not all ready yet "coming soon"

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 16:13

hi mary. mixture of pmt, being miserable cos overweight and bored at work. apart from that am fine!!!
thanks for lent literature. will have a look later.
i should be looking elsewhere for work but worried i might be disappointed again and also not sure it is a good idea til dh finds permanent position. but compared to some MNers my troubles seem very very small indeed and for that i am grateful to our Lord

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 16:13

mary... you trying to compete with tesco?!

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 16:57

Compete with Tesco???? (aka The Extremely Self Centred Organisation). In what way?

longwaytogotobethlehem · 10/01/2007 17:18

have a cancellation relate appointment at 7p.m tonight - please pray that dc will be ok on thier own as I don't think lo's will havwe gone to bed by the time we've gone 14.6 yr old dd in charge. Not ideal but really have no option.

Also that this session will bear fruit. Everything is just so hard atm every time me and dh talk there is just atmosphere or he just ignores my comments. So fed up of it, just think that he's going to wait till he's better and i've done everything for him the he will just disappear.

roseylea · 10/01/2007 17:28

Hi LWTG.

Hope your relate sesson goes well tonight. I'm sure your dcs will be fine. Don't worry about them - just make the most of the session! I'll be praying for you.

Just a little prayer request - I'm still not well! Still struggling with cold / various aches and pains / crohns. I had to take yesterday off work and spent the whole day in bed. I just so want a bit if energy again, to be able to do the normal stuff of a day without being exhausted by about now (5.30ish). My dh wonders if it's going back to work that has knocked me flat. I wonder if it's working in a big school with all those kids and their germs! Please pray that my body would be able to start to sort itself out. I might have to go onto steroids for the crohns as I'm not really getting any better with the ohter treatments I'm on - I'm seeing my consultant on Tues and I'm going to see what he says.

fannyannie · 10/01/2007 18:11

Continuing to pray for all who need it.

Just an update on God answering prayers for me. Dropped off my employers reference at the letting agents today -they said it was fine - so it's just a case of waiting until the beginning of Feb to pay deposit and first months rent and sign the tenancy agreement.

Someone has offered a toaster on freecycle too - which I've just replied to say I'd love to have (it was in response to my 'wanted' message) and I think I've just secured myself a fridgefreezer!!! Now I just need to co-ordinate pick-up between a friend who has a MPV which will easily fit the fridge and the 3 different people so I can pick them all up on the same day (hopefully).

PandaG · 10/01/2007 18:36

Hello all

Toady - thanks for posting, and for the update regarding Jo. I will continue to pray for her and your whole family. Glad to know that a bunch of strangers on an internet site praying for is helping you a little bit. I really don't know the answer to your question, but will pray for peace for y ou if that is ok.

Mary - will look at the Lent stuff later. I have a sneaking suspicion that God wants me to wear my Ash cross all the way through Lent again this year!

FA - Praise God that he is sorting out things practically for you.

LWTG - praying for you, that the appointment is useful to you both, and that the DC are ok while you are there.

Rosey - that you are still feeling ill. Praying that you will have a helpful meeting eith your consultant next week.

Nanou - good to see you honey

CD - how are you doing? Did you cope ok with your busy day? Hugs flower.

roseylea · 10/01/2007 18:39

Hi Panda!

Dh is playing rough 'n' tumble with the dcs so I've snuck off on to the computer...

What is an ash cross? I've always been in low churches so I don't think I've come across one.

PandaG · 10/01/2007 18:53

Ash Wednesday (day after shrove Tuesday) ashing service, have a cross made of ash (traditionally from burnt palm crosses from the previous year)mixed with a little oil to make it stick, drawn on your forehead, as a symbol of mourning and repentance (I think! not so hot on the exact theology - I go to a joint CofE and Baptist, I'm Baptist and I think this is Anglican tradition)

Anyway, last year I wore mine (reapplied every morning) throughout Lent as an outward symbol to others, and a remonder to me what Lent is all about - if Jesus humbled Himself and died on a cross for me, I could be humble and attract stares/comment etc throughout Lent. Was quite difficult initially, but I got no abuse, a few odd looks and a lot of questions!

Hope that helps!

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 19:43

Not sure about an Anglican tradition, but they definitely do it in the Catholic church!

RL - praying for your Crohns and other crosses to bear!

LWTG - hope and pray all goes well tonight. Let us know how you get on.

Now... I ought to return to Genesis...

BTW does anyone else find BCE and CE a little PC and maybe even patronising, when used instead of BC and AD????

PandaG · 10/01/2007 19:50

No idea what the other initials stand for Mary!

what is the Genesis essay about? or will that distract you further?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 10/01/2007 20:01

BCE = Before the Common Era (ie BC), CE = Common Era (ie AD).

Its just prep work for our first tutorial. I haven't decided what essays I'm doing yet. I'm guessing it won't be on Genesis though!

The sort of thing I'm supposed to be looking at is "What has been overlooked in Genesis 1-3 by people who claim or imply the story gives carte blanche to our exploitation of nature?" and a whole bunch of other waffly questions I'm supposed to write pieces about.
