It will be worth it!! The loft in the place we are buying a huuuuge and we would definitely like to extend up there in a few years when we have got the finances together .....

mufti · 08/12/2006 15:06

a couple of tips, which i find help, label boxes with the room they are meant for, and (although quite time consuming) exactly whats in them. then you dont have to, say, go through every box marked kitchen, before you find something you need in a hurry.
and, take ,separately, in the car if poss, essentials ie, kettle, mugs etc, loo roll, towel, soap.
can the dc's stay wih inlaws on the day?

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 08/12/2006 15:13

Thank you mufti! We're moving slowly over ten days (we're blessed enough to be able to do that.) So there's a whole mixture of childcare arrangements going on .....

mufti · 08/12/2006 15:16

oh im sure it will be ok

Nanou1 · 08/12/2006 16:13

quick hello. praying for you all. can't wait for the day we have enough money to have internet at home so that i can catch up properly. you got the house CD?? fantastic. so so pleased for you. prayers all round and sorry i cant do longer posts. starting reading toddlers bible to dd (she will be 3 beg march) and she loves it; and last night she asked for "baby jesus" story; then we were doing her little prayers book and the way she says "Amen"... made me almost cry. Thank you Lord for our beautiful children.

Notquitesotiredmum · 08/12/2006 16:46

Mary - LOL at you discovering MN at the same time as being called to ministry! (Seriously, of course, this thread is super and very much benefits from all of your wise words and honesty) But it did sound funny finding the Lord and finding us at the same time! (We've got a lot to live up to now!)

NotTheVirginMaryOhNo · 08/12/2006 17:15

It was really good actually, because when I went for selection, I told them about this amazing prayer thread I belonged to, and they must have thought "Oh, she's really spiritual", and didn't ask me too many difficult questions about prayer (whereas the other candidate got a real grilling!). I don't know about a lot to live up to, because I do have a habit of lowering the tone occasionally

CD - ITA on packing advice from Mufti!

Nanou - that's really sweet! Did I tell people that DS told me he loved me, and I asked him what love meant and he said "God"!

texasrose · 08/12/2006 19:19

Hello all!

Just been reading your threads and praying for you all.

Mary I've been praying for your dh all this week.

CD you must be excited to be finally on the move!

Nanou, it's great to hear from you again!

Maymay it's remakable and humbling how God still shines through us even tho we are so very far from perfect. Light shones best out of cracked pots! (If you can picture that image...)

WEll could you wonderful people please pray for a situation I'm in with my childminder. I don't want to go into deatils here but there's been an upset this week which has led me to really not trust her, and what's more I've found out that she spoke very rudely to my mum a while ago. So I'm looking for a new cm.

The prob is that where I live is so villagey and everyone knows everyone else's business and I really don't want this to become a gossipy thing or a scandal. She's well known round here and so am I and it could easily become very messy. Also please pray that we find someone who is best for my ds, and that when I speak to present cm to end the contract I have the right words not to cause offense or get drawn into saying stuff I don't wan tto say. I want to be a christ-ian, a mini-Jesus in this.

(On a different note...) Praise God! I have gone down to doing 3 days a week rather than 4!!!!!! I am sooooooooooooooo chuffed about this. I have felt all term that I've been doing too much, I've got bogged down and run down....so I saw my boss today, said just that, and she was lovely!!! She said no probs. Isn't that fab????!!!!! More time at home will help me so much and I'm sure it'll be better for the dcs. Thank you Lord!!!!!

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappyNewYe · 08/12/2006 20:02

TR - I am a CM myself, so praying that you resolve the situation with y our CM really quickly, and find someone who is right for DS very soon. Thank you LOrd for the reduction in hours!

Just had a lovely family tea with 3 other families - thank you God for FAB Christian mates. I thank God regularly for you guys, but I am so grateful for RL friends too - you know who you are!

NotTheVirginMaryOhNo · 08/12/2006 22:21

Just want to let you know that DSis got her interview, thanking you for your prayers. Now prayers are needed that she gets the job! (God willing!).

You may remember I had to get rid of the childminder I was using. Do you know I saw her pushing the double buggy she uses to school, smoking over the top of the 2 children in her care? . TR I can sympathise with you in your dilemma, I had the same problem. The least said, soonest mended is all I can say. Good news on the work situation! Praise God!

sleepysooz · 08/12/2006 22:39

MaryBs - you are keeping me on mi little toes with the name changes, love them!

texasrose · 09/12/2006 13:07

Hello all!

Could I ask you to pray for me? I'm thinking this childminder issue through and I'm getting all stressed out over it. I am not at all confrontational and the idea of telling my present cm that I don't want to use her any more is making me feel physically sick. I'm also worried that she'll bad-mouth me to people around here. I think she's the kind of person who could turn nasty on you .

This feels like when I was a teenager with an unsuitable boyfriend and knew I had to break it off but didn't know how to...!

Also the thought of finding a new one before CHristmas is very stressful. I do know a couple of good ones. I've spoken to my no.1 choice and I'm waiting for her to get back to me to say if she has space or not.

This all might sound like a really silly thing to get het up about! Please pray that the Lord would intervene and guide me to the best set-up for my ds and that He would give me peace!

Thank you!

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 09/12/2006 19:19

Evening! Madness reigns in DippyLand - just starting to pack stuff up and try to get our heads round this whole "moving thing" - is wonderful, but potentially v.stressful, pray, pray, pray!! Thank you!! We also need to finish Christmas stuff and DH needs to fill out a job application by the end of this w/e .... argh!!

Texas, praying for this difficult situation with your CM. Mmmmmmm, if you are not happy with her then you are perfectly within your rights to withdraw your DC's from her care. It is tough living in a small village, I grew up in one, so I do sympathise; but it'll all be old news by the time Christmas is over, I assure you!! [hugs] Praying you find a fantastic, more suitable CM asap. Wonderful news about dropping the hours though - Priase God!!

Praying for your DSis with the interview Mary - do let us know how she gets on, so hope she gets the job!!

Need to get on .......

longwaytogo · 09/12/2006 19:23

oh cd I don't envy you at all we've moved 3 times in the last 4 years and never again. Just take your time, but once you start its kind of compulsive in that you just want it done. Then when its done you think why did I pack that lol

marybs bummber about your sil will pray she doesn't have to uproot everyone when they are already vulnerable

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 09/12/2006 19:36

Thanks lwtg! How's you??

Ditto to prayers for SIL and DB and children, Mary. xx

EatDrinkandBeMary · 09/12/2006 22:13

Thank you everyone for your prayers!

TR - you have to do what is right for your children, and blow the consequences. As I said, I went through the exact same thing, and apart from a little unpleasantness, it all worked out right in the end. And I feel SO much happier that my children aren't with her! Will pray for you, but I think you already know the answer. Will pray you can find the right words.

sleepysooz · 09/12/2006 22:32

MARY! I've tried to change my name, but am computer illiterate, messed everything up, I was going to be 'OhyesyouareOhnoyournotSleepySooz' toooooooo long I presume

sleepysooz · 09/12/2006 22:33

Sorry meant to be a prayer thread, I'll pack up and move to 'Bible Bashers' bet you wish you could move house as quick CD

weirdbird · 10/12/2006 11:11

Please pray, had contractions most of the night up to 6 min apart and then they all went, am really tired and fed up of this, please pray that something happens soon, am worried about the bump every time this happens and am just getting to the end of my tether.

Kindly iL's have taken DD for us so we can have a rest, but I just want baby here now and to know what is going on. Maybe this is selfish of me, but I don't care any more. Feel like I can't take any more of it all.

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 10/12/2006 13:11

Don't think that you are sefish AT ALL WB, totally understand where you are coming from - You just need to have that gorgeous little baby inyour arms, so you can breath a big sigh of relief and get on with your life ..... Praying that the contractions last night were the beginning of something ....... Keep us posted and enjoy your rest today!!

texasrose · 10/12/2006 16:50

Hello all!

How are you Weirdbird? I'm praying for you Hope the contractions are errmmmm productive!

CD may I just say how beautifully you speak to people on here. You've got a lovely pastoral way about you!

Mistletoe I'm praying that your tension will go.

And everyone else - hello! Sorry if I've not mentioned you.

Mary you are right - putting my dcs' interests first has to be my priority. n fact...I've spoken to my no.1 choice of cm (I've used her in the past, she's a member of the church and a lvely christian, v. gifted with little dcs) and she will probably be able to have my ds!

But it means shuffling my working days around. So could you please pray that my boss (who is absolutely great) would be amenable to that idea. I think she probably will, based on the convo I had with her on Fri. I'm still nervous that this isn't going to work out (o me of little faith) So please pray for divine intervention!

Had a yukky day...we went to my FIL's church this morning and the dcs (esp. ds) were bored and fractious all through the service. By the time we left it had degenerated into full blown tantrums on the floor with little legs kicking . So we got home and calmed them down with the promise of going to the park after lunch. THen just as we left the house it started raining...gaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! More tantrums. We ended up coming home and making rice crispie cakes instead. C'est la vie!

texasrose · 10/12/2006 16:51

Actualy, what is the plural of 'tantrum'?
