Sex before marriage

I know Christianity is very big on 'no sex before marriage'.

Is it possible to be a true Christian and actually have no problem with sex before marriage?

Old thread but I had to pick up on the bit about Mary Magdalene being a prostitute. There's no evidence that she was a prostitute. She may have been because prostitution was very common in that time period but equally she may have been a virgin. She's a very mysterious figure. She was probably unmarried as she wasn't described as a widow and didn't have children. The Mary Magdalene of popular culture is a mish-mash of people - she seems to have got part of her story from Mary of Bethany (Martha and Lazarus' sister), an unnamed sinner who washed Jesus' feet and may or may not have been her and St. Mary of Egypt who is described as being very promiscuous and/or a prostitute and later repented. Unmarried women historically were regarded with a lot of suspicion and women were also regarded as having voracious sexual appetites so it makes sense that Jesus' closest follower would be portrayed in this way by the early Catholic church and the Protestant church continuing it.

Anyway, as for the original question I have no problem with sex before marriage. And what's your definition of a 'true' Christian? I also have no moral objections to casual sex or prostitution (in theory) so long as no-one is cheating, causing harm to others and are taking precautions with their health. I think sex can be beautiful and meaningful outside of a traditional romantic love relationship.
