Are you very superstitious?

I know I am and sometimes it gets out of hand. When I see a magpie I spit and bow and black cats are good luck but then it gets into other things. Every time my kids do a school play someone leaves my life and now theya re coming up to another one and I am getting anxious about what will happen. I mean not walking under ladders is one thing but I can get a bit compulsive about is all. Is anyone else like this?

Yep, got to admit that I do all of that. I am no crystal wearing, tie dye kinda girl but am definitely superstitious without any defined philosophical explanations behind it other than "can?t hurt" and just plain old habit. Even my DH who is about as sceptical as you can get concerning all relligions anything supernatural or anythign else not easily explained, he still salutes magpies and avoids ladders - all from his mum.
My mil is lethal (quite literally...) - she holds her nose when she sees a hearse until she sees a black cat. She has been known to do this on several occasions while driving....

Amber is soothing to both nerves and spirit, as well as bestowing protection upon its wearer. Keep a piece on your alter, or in your ritual space, to add strength to evry magickal working you do. Also usefull for past life meditation, and rubbed on sore muscles, will soothe them.

HTH

Weird. Did it have a fly? Could it be good luck?

Btw - I copied and pasted that bit - I can actually spell properly!!

fairyfly · 02/05/2004 10:02

AMBER (cognac): With an energy like liquid sunshine, amber is the fossilized resin of pine trees. Amber is said to enhance the beauty of the wearer. It is used to tap into the power of the Sun, and is good for success, abundance, healing, vitality and joy. A powerful stone for manifestation, Amber is also used for healing of the physical body. It carries a negative electrical energy charge and therefore is good to draw power and energy into its bearer. Great for absent-mindedness. It was said to bring good luck to warriors. Said to calm the nerves.

fairyfly · 02/05/2004 10:02

I obviously look like shit

wobblyknicks · 02/05/2004 10:05

It's a protecting stone - so maybe she 'sensed' you needed a bit of 'help'.

glitterfairy · 03/05/2004 08:13

WK this is sort of changing the subject for the moment but have you made your bracelet yet because this talk of amber and stones has made me yearn for chunky bracelet with calming healing stones I can chink about at bad fairys in my life. I wondered if you had ever thought of making more or would take a comission?

OK there is something spooky about posting three times which is either because of the ladders or because you are not superstitious??? Or just like me your computer needs reminding you wanted to say something!

ROFL And go round widershins. Seriously though am beginning to think with me it is abit obsessive/compulsive. Sometimes useful though used to have a boss who I couldnt eat anything till I had seen her because ifI did always had a bad day!

I am superstitious when messages are posted three times ... they say hidden messsages come three times.

I didn´t think I was that superstitious but codswallop reminded me that I am obviously that way inclined afterall.

Oh, and I like to touch wood after comments about how well something is going.

glitterfairy · 03/05/2004 10:34

Yes and say break a leg instead of good luck when the kids are doing ballet. Talked to a friend yesterday from the CZech republic who said that balck cats are bad luck there so now feel all worried that I an thinking good things when bad may happen help help! Perhaps luck is what we make it.

OP posts:
papillon · 03/05/2004 11:45

I like black cats and ginger ones too... nothing wrong with them - poor cats are always getting a bad rep!

Like cats in dreams are supposed to be bad as well... in my medicine cards cats are the holder of secrets and messages that may have been lost and are often difficult to recognise.
Bit like the witches cat who knows lots but ain´t telling you without some work being done § as papillon stirs her cauldron §

glitterfairy · 03/05/2004 13:39

What are medicine cards they sound great?

OP posts:
papillon · 03/05/2004 16:43

Medicine cards are American Indian based tarot I guess. They are animal cards.. they are very nice... have a look at the link I posted earlier.
