I keep seeing a small child out of the corner of my eye...

and its none one of mine!!!

For a long time I have "sensed" something in our house ( we have been here for two years)- I often feel as if something is behind me and sometimes can hear breathing if I am alone in the house. This has never bothered me, I have seen a spirit ( i think) before in my teens and although it freaked me out a bit, I didnt feel too bothered.
The man that lived in this house before us commited suicide after the death of his daughter by driving himself into a wall, so I have sort of always felt that it may be him that I am sensing......

...but recently (past three/four months) I have been doing something and out of the corner of my eye, have seen a small blond haired child, when i turn too look directly at it, it goes.
Now today, about 15 mins ago- I heard a "sliding" noise on the stair rail ( you know when you are coming down the stairs and you run your hand down the rail?)
I dont think that my mind is playing tricks on me, Im so convinced of the small child from my side vision, that quite often I assume that it is ds2 got out of bed, but when I look directly- nothing.

IM not freaked out at all, but its only happened recently ( the child) - why would i not have seen/sensed this before??

Im just a bit confused by it all really

this may sound weird but have you tried talking to her?if you're on your own and sense her try asking if she needs something, or tell her you don't mind her being there.
It may be that your dd has seen her too kids are often more sensitive to these things.

tiredemma · 21/09/2006 21:29

hi thanks for replying- I havent tried to talk, and tbh- I sense that it is a boy for some reason and not a girl.
I know it sounds mad- I just cant explain how strongly i feel their presence.

I agree that you could try 'talking'out aloud to the spirit child,he/she obviously wants to be noticed.

tiredemma · 21/09/2006 21:35

do you think?

StG
You follow the moon. What the hell is happening w/this?

Seems to be a lot of it going round these days.

tiredemma · 21/09/2006 21:54

no, not worried by it, and tbh, probably wouldnt have mentioned had I not heard the slide down the hand rail earlier.

oh expat- are those rolling eyes for me??
im not typing this because of the other thread. Honest!

things were weird today on mn too

SaintGeorge · 21/09/2006 21:57

Coming up to the thinning of the veil at the autumn exquinox expat. Probably last until about mid-november and will then quiet down a little again.

SaintGeorge · 21/09/2006 22:00

Someone whack me on the head with a big stick.

I mean Samhain, not autumn equinox.

The veil is thin at the Equinox and carries through to Samhain and a little beyond that.

Sorry, chatting to my sis on the phone at same time.

expatinscotland · 21/09/2006 22:02

No, tired, NOT AT ALL! Not rolling eyes, just this seems to be stepping into high gear here.

Don't worry, if anyone believes it, it's me.

expatinscotland · 21/09/2006 22:03

My senses have been pricked lately, myself.

I thought it was just b/c of where I am in my menstrual cycle. That happens sometimes, too. But I should have known b/c it's hung round a bit.

southeastastra · 21/09/2006 22:10

this will sound silly, but tonight my son was asking me about roofs, so i took him outside to see the gutters and he asked where the bath water went and i opened the drain to show him.

the drain was filling up and blocked, i had to rod it out, it was just strange. (it doesn't get blocked often at all)

SaintGeorge · 21/09/2006 22:49

Right, now I am not multi-tasking I will try to write clearly

Autumn Equinox on the 23rd. The planes are at their closest at the peak of the equinox and the veil therefore at its thinnest. The effect lasts for a couple of weeks.

Then with the run up to Samhain there is likely to be a lot of summoning going on in certain quarters, which will again heighten the effect until mid-november.

All of which probably makes no sense to anyone other than expat

ameli · 22/09/2006 10:37

maybe your mind has started to go into over drive, you know what happened with the man who lived in the house before you and maybe that has got you spooked...sorry just trying to be rational.

Papillon · 22/09/2006 11:31

Halloween!

ok for everyone else who did not know what summoning meant

... Samhain is a very spiritual time, because October 31 lies exactly between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice. A very potent time for magic and communion with spirits.

The "veil between the worlds" of the living and the dead is said to be at its thinnest on this day; so the dead may be invited to return to feast with their loved ones; welcomed in from the cold.

Ancient customs range from placing food out for dead ancestors, to performing rituals for communicating with those who had passed over.

Communion with the dead was thought to be the work of witches and sorcerers, although the common folk thought nothing of it. Because the rise of the Church led to growing suspicion of the pagan ways of country dwellers, Samhain also became associated with witches, black cats ("familiars" or animal friends), bats (night creatures), ghosts and other "spooky" things...the stereotype of the old hag riding the broomstick is simply a caricature; fairy tales have exploited this image for centuries.

Divination of the future was also commonly practiced at this magically-potent time; since it was also the Celtic New Year, people focused on their desires for the coming year.

tiredemma · 22/09/2006 16:40

Ive never really thought about the man who lived here before, because i couldnt "see" anything. But this time - I know that something is there. Going to call out to it next time it happens ( although I will feel a bit of a prat!)

Sorry Expat- went paranoid, thought you were inviting StG over to laugh at me!!!!

all this autumn equinox stuff though is really, really interesting.

Tiredemma I was just wondering what happened with this?

fransmom · 03/10/2006 21:28

what happened with what?

tiredemma · 03/10/2006 21:36

Hi,

I have still sensed him frequently over past few weeks, but strangely- a few nights ago I heard Dp say " are you out of bed again?" and heard himget up out of bed- but then i drifted off back to sleep.

Next day he said that in the night he thought he saw our youngest ds ( who has light blond hair) standing next to the bed ( ds has been a poor sleeper until recently and quite often used to get out of bed and come into our room)
he was sure it was ds but as he sat up- no one was there- he got up to check out on the landing. nothing. went into ds's bedroom and ds was fast asleep.
I think that he may have seen the same child that i have sensed.

It still doesnt bother me, although I wish i could find out exactly what it is.

dreamcatcher · 03/10/2006 22:28

did you try talking to the child?

aieeeeeeeeeeeeeetch71 · 03/10/2006 22:43

oooh, that's interesting. how does your dh feel about this, tiredemma? you don't seem spooked, but is he?

greenday · 26/10/2006 16:13

I just have to say .. I was reading this thread late one afternoon while my dd was napping in her pushchair. Already getting quite freaked out by this. Meantime, DD had woken up, squirmed out of her pushchair, stood beside me in her groogy state. I must have been so absorbed in this thread I didn't hear the slightest sound.
And boy, did I jump out of my skin when I spotted her out of the corner of my eye. And it was a scary sight .. she was groggy from sleep, so was hunching over, had her muslin cloth in mouth while sucking her fingers.
I cannot read any more of these threads. They scare the hell of out of.

suzywong · 27/10/2006 10:02

Ha! i bet her muslin looked like ectoplasm!

I love these threads, keep it going

fransmom · 28/10/2006 15:11

why do you love these threads, suzywong? is it because you are mocking people's imaginations and think "...the stories they come up with!"?
