New beginnings: a Christian prayer thread for summer

I have called this thread 'new beginnings', as it felt appropriate to lots of us at the moment, in a whole series of ways.

Since I started our last thread, back in April, we have welcomed Abigail Faith, daughter of HadALittleFaithBaby, and Hannah Faith, daughter of RoomForALittleOne. We thank God for their safe arrival and pray that He will watch over them and surround them with His love as they grow.

We pray for Kaykat and for CharlotteCollinsismovingon as they deal with the breakdown of their marriages. We pray not only for Kay, but also for her friend who has been providing her with excellent support and legal advice, for a clear way forward and a swift resolution. We pray for a clear and positive way forward also for Charlotte, and for her children to cope with this change in their lives with understanding and resilience.

We pray for PositiveAttitude as she settles back into life in the UK, and prepares for a period away from her DH and DD4. We pray, in particular, for her DD1, that she find a job in which she will feel supported and which will help her to feel happier and better able to cope with life. We also pray for happiness for PA's DD3, who has just got married, and for her DS in his new job. Finally we pray for the work of her DH in Cambodia, praying that the separation is bearable and that he continues to be able to make a real difference to people's lives over there.

We pray for BlueTinkerbell as she moves to a new home, looks for work, and continues to explore her vocation. May this move be a really positive new beginning for Blue and her family.

Likewise, we pray for niminypiminy who will begin ordination training in September.

And we pray for my church and diocese in the aftermath of some major structural changes. This is a new beginning that was imposed rather than chosen, but may it bring positive developments nonetheless.

We pray also for:

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for this work to be welcomed and valued, rather than greeted with incomprehension, far less hostility;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, for peaceful and restorative holidays, for order in her flat and with her paperwork, and for her DC; we pray especially that they both receive the support that they need from their school;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to receive a clear diagnosis and suitable treatment for her eye problem very soon;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, that her DS is able to access the support he needs and is valued and nurtured at school; for better support also for her DD; for better relationships at work; and for her nephew, who has suffered a burst appendix;

... DutchOma and Bob, for health for Bob and for good support (moral and practical) for Oma as she cares for him day by day; and for the ability to rest and breathe easily in this heat;

...JakeBullet as she deals with her uncle's ill-health and decision to move back to his native Switzerland. May he be well cared-for and peaceful there, and may Jake not miss him too much;

... MadHairDay, for health as she lives with chronic illness, and for strength as she mourns the death of a friend; we remember also MHD's friend and all who knew and loved her at this time;

We also pray for friends who haven't been around for a while... for Badvoc, for Gingercurl and her thesis, for Jan and her DD, for MaryBS, and for all those who lurk, for occasional visitors, and for those known to us who are in need of prayer, whether mentioned here or not.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Well, I've down two days at work. I still need a new job, but they've been pretty good. They took me off the phones the past two days, as they didn't want someone to inadvertently upset me. Also went along to a service at a local church on Monday morning, and enjoyed it very much.

Praying through x

Dutchoma · 01/10/2013 22:08

Marking a place of prayer for Tunnocksteacake. Lord, hold them close.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2013 22:29

i have new war wounds inflicted after school.

PositiveAttitude · 02/10/2013 07:26

Praying for you all today, especially Lollipops, Badvoc, Tunnock, FOD

I am very excited after being offered a job which I am soooooooo looking forward to doing and want to get stuck right in. It's with a local Christian charity and will never make me rich, but is so right! Grin
Today I also have a job interview for a job I now don't really want. I might have to get out of my comfort zone and say that word....."no". I am praying I don't get offered it. I do feel I should go along to the interview - maybe it would work out well and I don't want to let anyone down.......watch this space!

Please pray for DD1 who had been doing so well away from home, but had an upset yesterday with a housemate. Pray for peace and that this will not shake her. Thank you.

Prayers for everyone else on here, too. tuo, DO, BES, amber, MHD, Faith, Room, Ginger, Mary, Mome, Jan, KayKat...... oh, I know I have missed a load, that's why I tend not to name on here, but prayers for everyone anyway! And a prayer for all the lurkers on this thread.....come and say Hi! Wink

HadALittleFaith · 02/10/2013 07:40

That's great news PA!

Praying through, especially lifting up those in mourning. lollipop, badvoc and FriendOfDorothy. Also holding tunnocksteacake up in prayer during this challenging time.

Sorry for not posting more specific prayers, I am very sleep deprived!

EasyCompadre · 02/10/2013 07:44

Hello everyone,

This is the first time that I've seen this thread, and I'm really pleased that I've come across it in my hour of need. I hope to be able to join in more from now, but I must be cheeky and ask for prayers before I've even offered anything myself if that is ok.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and have been bleeding a little since Sunday, and had a strange 'poking' uncomfortableness in my abdomen yesterday. I have an appointment and scan at 11am this morning to see what is going on. I've been praying and praying and resting and praying since Sunday, and I am feeling positive (after some very low moments yesterday) and I would just really appreciate some extra thoughts from anyone who may see this this morning.

Thank you in advance,
I'll be back later.

Badvoc · 02/10/2013 07:45

Thank you all for your prayers...they are really needed ATM.
Can I ask you to add my dear sister to your prayers? She is really struggling with dad's loss and her own health problems.
Also my aunt who has to go to hospital for further tests today.
BES...are you ok?
PA...many congrats.

Badvoc · 02/10/2013 07:46

EC...I will be thinking of you today. I had bleeding with my ds1 (who is now a strapping 10 year old!) x

EasyCompadre · 02/10/2013 07:56

Thank you Badvoc, it's really reassuring to hear positive experiences. You and your family are in my prayers this morning.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 02/10/2013 08:06

Praying EC x

HadALittleFaith · 02/10/2013 08:08

EC I had bleeding at 12 weeks but baby was fine (she's asleep on my chest!) but praying for a healthy baby.

Dutchoma · 02/10/2013 09:09

Praying for all but especially EasyCompadre. Let us know how you get on?

EasyCompadre · 02/10/2013 14:34

Hello again,
Well we've had the scan, and everything is fine! The baby was wriggling away with a lovely strong heartbat. The nurses couldn't give us an explanation for the bleed, it's "just one of those things" they say. Thank you so much for your prayers this morning, I read them while we were waiting in the waitin room and it gave me a great sense of peace. Thank you xxx

Badvoc · 02/10/2013 14:47

EC that's wonderful news, which I sorely need ATM :)
It may have been an implantation bleed - I think that's what mine was.
So glad you have been reassured.

Dutchoma · 02/10/2013 15:26

Wonderful news EC. Thanks for updating so quickly. Hope you will stick around.

madhairday · 02/10/2013 16:44

Welcome EC, and so glad all is well, I'm another one who had bleeding at 8-10 weeks, the result of that being a ten year old (still can't get my head round that, he was ten yesterday!)

Praying especially for Badvoc, FOD, tunnocks and Lollipops at this time.

EasyCompadre · 02/10/2013 17:34

I will be sticking around, it's a lovely place round here. Thank you all for your well wishes, I'll be praying for all those in need. X

BlackeyedSusan · 02/10/2013 21:33

it has been a peculiar few days. appointments and strike days and ds has been vile as he is tired. he is in his own bed though tonight. no more wounds though he did try.

there have been several answers to little payers recently that have been keeping me going. silly things, like getting a pan for free from a neighbour to do dyeing with.

EasyCompadre · 03/10/2013 10:01

I hope your DS managed to get a good sleep last night BES and has woken uP this morning in a sunnier mood.

It's nice to hear that little prayers have been answered, what will you be dyeing in your pan?

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2013 11:50

ah now the dyeing...

it is an iron age experiment with natural dyes and natural mordants

cloutiedumpling · 03/10/2013 13:07

Fantastic news EC. I had bleeding with DC2 from about 8 - 15 weeks. I can't believe he is now at school.

Are you doing tie dyeing? I used to love that.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2013 13:26

dyeing wool yarn. I am psyching myself up to do it. it may be a bit whiffy. the dyebath is still fermenting on the windowsill upstairs.

I had spotting all though ds's pregnancy. terifying after one miscarriage.

Dutchoma · 03/10/2013 14:01

Wht are you going to make with the wool yarn once it's dyed?

madhairday · 03/10/2013 18:36

DD has an ear infection that a week of antibs haven't cleared up so has been referred to the hospital to have it cleared out tomorrow, so would appreciate prayer for her, particularly as she is on a nasty drug for her psoriasis that compromises her immune system so we really need the infection to go :( Just had a pity me moment on the other thread, but really would appreciate prayer, I'm worried about her health in general atm.

GingerCurl · 03/10/2013 19:44

praying. mhd.
Cool, BES! That takes me back. I remember people dying wool yarn using all sorts of leaves (the green bits on carrots, radishes, birch leaves, etc) and knitting sweaters and stuff in the 70. lovely, subtle and earthy colours some of them.
Am feeling a bit low, demotivated and full of doubt at the moment. the industrial supervisor still hasn't done what she said would have completed a week ago. I have now been told she will have it done by tomorrow morning. I'm worried my thesis isn't good enough and about getting a job. my academic supervisor is being conspicuously silent about being able to offer me anything, which makes me doubt myself even more. DH had some worrying news about his part of the company he working for. So far only rumours, but it still rattles you a bit.
praying for everyone.
