New beginnings: a Christian prayer thread for summer

I have called this thread 'new beginnings', as it felt appropriate to lots of us at the moment, in a whole series of ways.

Since I started our last thread, back in April, we have welcomed Abigail Faith, daughter of HadALittleFaithBaby, and Hannah Faith, daughter of RoomForALittleOne. We thank God for their safe arrival and pray that He will watch over them and surround them with His love as they grow.

We pray for Kaykat and for CharlotteCollinsismovingon as they deal with the breakdown of their marriages. We pray not only for Kay, but also for her friend who has been providing her with excellent support and legal advice, for a clear way forward and a swift resolution. We pray for a clear and positive way forward also for Charlotte, and for her children to cope with this change in their lives with understanding and resilience.

We pray for PositiveAttitude as she settles back into life in the UK, and prepares for a period away from her DH and DD4. We pray, in particular, for her DD1, that she find a job in which she will feel supported and which will help her to feel happier and better able to cope with life. We also pray for happiness for PA's DD3, who has just got married, and for her DS in his new job. Finally we pray for the work of her DH in Cambodia, praying that the separation is bearable and that he continues to be able to make a real difference to people's lives over there.

We pray for BlueTinkerbell as she moves to a new home, looks for work, and continues to explore her vocation. May this move be a really positive new beginning for Blue and her family.

Likewise, we pray for niminypiminy who will begin ordination training in September.

And we pray for my church and diocese in the aftermath of some major structural changes. This is a new beginning that was imposed rather than chosen, but may it bring positive developments nonetheless.

We pray also for:

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for this work to be welcomed and valued, rather than greeted with incomprehension, far less hostility;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, for peaceful and restorative holidays, for order in her flat and with her paperwork, and for her DC; we pray especially that they both receive the support that they need from their school;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to receive a clear diagnosis and suitable treatment for her eye problem very soon;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, that her DS is able to access the support he needs and is valued and nurtured at school; for better support also for her DD; for better relationships at work; and for her nephew, who has suffered a burst appendix;

... DutchOma and Bob, for health for Bob and for good support (moral and practical) for Oma as she cares for him day by day; and for the ability to rest and breathe easily in this heat;

...JakeBullet as she deals with her uncle's ill-health and decision to move back to his native Switzerland. May he be well cared-for and peaceful there, and may Jake not miss him too much;

... MadHairDay, for health as she lives with chronic illness, and for strength as she mourns the death of a friend; we remember also MHD's friend and all who knew and loved her at this time;

We also pray for friends who haven't been around for a while... for Badvoc, for Gingercurl and her thesis, for Jan and her DD, for MaryBS, and for all those who lurk, for occasional visitors, and for those known to us who are in need of prayer, whether mentioned here or not.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Praying for a good day for Tunnocks

Bluetinkerbell · 16/09/2013 10:44

Prayers here for everyone!
I've started doing Morning Prayer at work and I thought at first that I wouldn't like it, but I'm really starting to enjoy it! :)
I'm adding prayers said here into it, not always out loud, but always in mind!

BlackeyedSusan · 16/09/2013 11:46

madhairday · 16/09/2013 16:02

Just quickly popping on - dd is 13 today so we're busy and being nagged to set up a fb account....thanks for all the prayers, I know they helped! We were on a conference then my internet wouldn't work so I haven't been on.

Praying for you all, especially tunnocksteacakes at this time.

Tuo · 16/09/2013 16:29

Happy birthday to your beautiful DD, MHD. The deal I have with DD1 is that I have to know her FB login details and be friends with her, though I have promised not to comment on anything or to tag her in anything without her express permission... I just feel I need to be able to see what's going on there, iykwim. This has worked so far (since May) without any arguments...

Oma - Beatrice Primrose and her family just jumped into my mind this morning, so thank you for posting that.

BES - get well soon, and hooray for the lovely party lady!

Praying right now that she will stop.

HaveALittleFaith · 16/09/2013 20:54

Praying tunnocks, for peace with your DD and over your circumstances.

Oma thanks for the reminder about Beatrice's birthday. How is Bob doing now?

bes it's great that the party prayers were answered! Praying for your family.

I am on my phone so limited for checking back but have been lurking and praying.

I'm not doing so well. Feeling quite low. I had a mirena coil fitted that really didn't suit me - I had bad mood swings. I had it removed but now I just feel flat and low. I guess I'm at a major anticlimax in some ways - in the last 4 years we started TTC which was such a difficult journey but obviously we had Faithlet, we had the fire but are settled at home. All of this has seriously shaken my faith and I just don't feel that support I would hope for from our church. We need to look for a new one but haven't started yet. Faithlet's sleep pattern has been very unsettled recently (day time naps are variable, nights she is waking 2-4 times when she was sleeping through). Room I think we're in a similar position so I'm praying for you! I have a GP appointment next week to discuss things....I think some counselling might help.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/09/2013 21:04

still waiting for an exact date and time... but we have made progress.

hope dd calms down tunnocks. and small ones sleep.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 16/09/2013 21:24

I prayed earlier Tunnocks when I saw your message. I hope she settled ok in the end.

Praying especially for Faith too x

Just had a fright, went to reach for the tea towel and there was a huge spider on it. Bleurgh.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/09/2013 21:56

got an ulcer right at the back of my mouth whee the jaw hinges. poked it too vigourously with a tooth brush. aagony. I can foresee a lot of gargling with salt water and a trip to the pharmacy.

hope dd got to sleep... x3

HaveALittleFaith · 16/09/2013 22:31

Praying for all this morning.

Also for the family of Andy who died of a heart attack aged 36. Weegiemum posted on FB. Too many, too tragic deaths, Lord have mercy.

We are doing ok. It's hard and I have to hang on to my ptience with varying degrees of success, but we are doing ok, thanks for asking Faith.

Thinking about you "wait patiently before the Lord" came into my mind. Sometimes we can be so intent on 'doing' something for God that we forget to 'be' before God. Sometimes we need to sit still and let God catch up with us.

MaryBS · 17/09/2013 08:34

Good to hear you are doing OK, DO. So sad about Andy and his family :(.

DS is having problems on the school bus, please pray that things settle down, otherwise I'll end up driving them in

BlackeyedSusan · 17/09/2013 14:24

oh it's so cold. going to have to put the heating on for the dc's shower/bath. need to check nothing is up gainst the radiators.

still struggling with a sore mouth.

Bluetinkerbell · 17/09/2013 14:43

oh bes hope your ulcer disappears soon!
It's cold in the office here too, I realised yesterday there are no radiators, just a few electric heaters. Do you think I can get away with putting a few cardigans/sweaters on my expenses Wink?

MaryBS · 17/09/2013 15:41

Thats nasty BES, I find bonjela does the trick for me!

Dutchoma · 17/09/2013 20:50
