"By this love you have for one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples": Christian Prayer Thread for April

I thought it was about time we started a new thread, seeing as the previous one now has over 600 posts, making it difficult for some people to load it and navigate around it. I used the quote from John 13. 15 that I posted on the previous thread on Maundy Thursday, because I think it sums up what this thread - and this group of people - is all about.

We pray particularly at this time for RoomForALittleOne: that her baby hang on where s/he is for as long as possible and continue to grow in size and strength, and that Room stay well and as pain- and stress-free as possible. Prayers, too, for the medical team looking after them both at this worrying time.

We pray also for:
amberlight ? for her work raising awareness of ASDs, and for her friends who have cancer;
BabyBeatrice and her family ? for continued healing and with thanks for recent good news;
BlackEyedSusan ? for strength to cope with all the many things on her plate, for health for her mum, and for happier times at school for her DD and DS;
BlueTinkerbell ? for work possibilities and for her vocation;
charlottecollinsislost ? for a peaceful holiday, despite the circumstances, and for as pain- and recrimination-free a separation as possible for the sake of all concerned;
Dontsteponthemomeraths ? for her as she dips her toe back in the 'dating pond'; for her ?LM? as he tries to establish contact with his children; for her brother to regain full use of his thumb, following an accident;
DutchOma and Bob ? for health for Bob, and for Oma to feel supported as she cares for him day-to-day; also for Oma's planned trip to Holland;
GingerCurl ? for the successful and (relatively) stress-free completion of her thesis;
HavingALittleFaithBaby ? for as easy a time as is possible during these last days and weeks of her pregnancy;
jann2013 ? for strength for her following the break-up of her marriage, and for her dd who has badly broken her arm;
Kaykat ? for her and her DS to know peace and happiness as they emerge from an abusive relationship, and for the legal issues to be sorted out quickly so that they can get back into their own home;
MadHairDay - for strength as she lives with chronic illness and for the Spring to bring her better health;
MaryBS - for peace and happiness following a difficult situation at Scouts with her DS;
PositiveAttitude ? for her mission overseas and for her family both over there and back here, especially her DD1;
...and for all who post on this thread, for those who lurk, for occasional visitors, and for those known to us who are in need of prayer, whether mentioned here or not.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

DS Dad went on his school trip with him, it was a big help. I know without him there, it would have been a tricky day for the teachers and for him. ExH eased him through each difficulty and I think he genuinely enjoyed the day, as much as he could. His issues are different but if he doesn't feel heard/ listened to and given warning, it gets very bad and becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and then he's very hard to wind down and stay down. So to speak. It's about not allowing the stress to build in the first place with him, if you can. You can't predict everything though.

I hope it's not too stressful for you and he can enjoy it x

BlackeyedSusan · 05/07/2013 23:27

party bags put together. jugs and boxes got out. got to put it all together tomorrow. (pizzas to cook etc.) waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Tuo · 06/07/2013 00:47

How did the trip go, BES? Hope DS was OK. Good luck with the party. Praying it'll all go well.

Continuing to pray for Room and baby Hannah Faith. Also for PA's DD1, and for all.

MHD - I know what you mean about those places that feel somehow 'steeped in prayer'. I felt like that about the place where I did my quiet day (even though I'd have liked it to be a bit quieter!). It's a place of such deep spiritual peace, somehow. [Note to self: must look at what's on there next year and find an excuse to go back.] Praying for you and your family and your mission.

Continuing to pray for the General Synod: for it to make wise decisions and to issue wise and conciliatory statements about the issues before it... not just the diocesan boundaries issue, but the broader (and, when all's said and done, more important) ones of women bishops, child abuse, and so on.

Morning Ladies. Anyone fancy praying for my engorged breasts? Grin Sorry but they are ridiculous and I want to go to church tomorrow. Hannah is lazy at latching on at the best of times and this is challenging her patience.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/07/2013 11:01

oh the trip. he was whiney and shouty for quiite a bt of the evening. I got hit in morisons, but only once. he did not kick off in the time out so that was a major bonus. I did have to walk out of the room at one point as he was so whiney and I was so hot and bothered and needed to refresh to keep my patience.

I am just about to cook and cool the pizzas. then we can open the bloomin windows. it is very hot but there are a lot of flies about and cooking for other chldren means extra prrecautions.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 06/07/2013 11:07

Praying Room. I won't make any suggestions, as you must be a dab hand at breast feeding now Grin

Please pray for my nephew. He's in hospital with a suspected burst appendix and very ill. I've only just heard Sad He's 16 and a big strapping rugby player, so to hear how ill he is, is quite shocking.

CharlotteCollinsismovingon · 06/07/2013 11:53

Just dropping in all of a fluster, because I felt I'd found a fantastic solution for a lot of current difficulties and now I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle. Sorry for crypticness, but I don't feel safe saying more. I've picked myself up and am trying a last ditch attempt - it would just make next year sooo much easier. So please pray that this attempt is successful and it all comes together. Thank you!

Dutchoma · 06/07/2013 13:56

Praying Room. And praying for BES and her party in this heat and for her ds. Our prayers for little friends to accept his invitation must have been answered.
And praying for Mome's nephew, very difficult for people who are not usually ill.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/07/2013 14:08

yes thankyou. enough for a party with a couple of siblings thrown in. still not had 2 replies. one replied to the wong phone numberr i think. the other did not reply at all. last year herr bother accepted and then did not show up at all with no expplanation, there werre 2 other no shows with no phonecall, and one no show, but she sent a message and had warned me it was a possibility and still bought the present. her dd was the only non attender to get a party bag, and i made new cakes specially for her.

all pizza is cooked and in the fridge. all cakes arre made. (chocolate crispy for egg allergy)and are in the fridge. iceblocks are in the bag of fruit, and freezing in the freezer. praying that we can park as there is an event on and we may not get to park. also need to rememberr to take a pen to wrrite down phonenumberrs for those who I do not have.

Dutchoma · 06/07/2013 15:30

It looks like you've thought of everything.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 06/07/2013 18:07

Nephews appendix had burst. The surgeon thought it had been at least 24 hrs. So he's still in hospital but now on lots of antibiotics and a fabulous scar to show his friends in due course Wink

BlackeyedSusan · 06/07/2013 20:19

oh dear mome. is he going to be ok?

there was plenty of parking and the party was fine. found out that another lovely boy of a lovely mum is also asd. they had a short play together on the assault course after.

Kaykat · 07/07/2013 08:46

Hi all having a bad weekend the hot weather makes me miss my home so much I keep crying. Have been thinking I will never get home. I will end up with nothing he's too clever and will get everything for himself unless I go back to him. How stupid is that?

Dutchoma · 07/07/2013 09:05

Oh Kay, you know that is not true. He has lost everything in losing you, whether he knows it or not. It's so very hard for you, but you still have right on your side and God will do justice.
We are struggling with the heat a bit as well, Bob more than I. He is finding it hard to sleep at night and to be comfortable during the day. And the heat is wearing my patience thin as well.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 07/07/2013 09:30

I think so BES. They sucked out all the pus etc. The surgeon thinks he got it all but the antibiotics will do the rest presumably?

Remind me not to buy sandals for a child with sensory issues. The hysterics if he gets the slightest bit between the shoe sole and his foot is seriously wearing. We must have stopped every 30 secs on a walk yesterday. I ended up carrying him.

Kay even I sometimes think it'd be easier if I was still with my ExH and he didn't steal my house from me! Be kind to yourself. It's natural to feel this way. Being in an abusive relationship can affect you profoundly too. You still have a lot of things to work through and let go off emotionally. You'll get there, just be kind to yourself. I hope you can enjoy the weather with friends and a lovely garden somewhere or park. I'll be praying for peace for you, patience in the waiting and that the Lord will restore to you the years the locust has eaten. He will turn what the enemy meant for harm to good x

BlackeyedSusan · 07/07/2013 10:10

oh kay. so sorry you are feeling low.

hmm mome. it is not looking good is it. hope those tests go quickly.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/07/2013 10:37

(oh dear that sounds a bit odd, sorry) also have an spd child and it is wearing)

Dutchoma · 07/07/2013 19:35

I have heard from BoxofDelights, who first started posting in December 2010 with anxiety and abuse issues. She is still lurking on the board and praying for us all, but asked me to put on a prayer request for an eye problem. She is waiting for treatment and a diagnosis and would be most grateful for our prayers.

madhairday · 07/07/2013 19:38

Charlotte just seen your message, and wanted to assure you of my prayers. If you need anything you know how to find me.

Hello everyone - hope you've all had lovely sunshiny weekends.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 07/07/2013 20:00

Hi all,

Thought I'd pop in again as you came up in active convos, and page 31 is my lucky number (as was born on the 31st - and sometimes you just need a lucky number !)

Great to read of safe arrival of Hannah Faith - congrats to Room Thanks
Hope all is continuing to go well for you both. How old is Hannah now ?

Perhaps you might pray for my DCs, both off on school residentials this week to Norfolk and Peak District ? - I hope they have a good time with their friends, and especially for dd camping that the sun shines and that they remember their hats and suncream ! DS set off this morning, DD early tomorrow (prayers for packing would be good, and remembering everything, and patience !)

Have also been enjoying the peace of the Daily Gratitudes thread recently. I think it's so important and helpful, especially in having some perspective about things, to keep remembering to be thankful, especially for the simple things.

Over there we often post our gratitude for ....
food and water, shelter and safety.

Peace and prayers for all x

HadALittleFaithBaby · 07/07/2013 20:27

Reading and praying. Just home after a lovely holiday in Devon.

Remembering especially expat and her family on the first anniversary of Ailidh's passing Thanks

madhairday · 08/07/2013 09:57

How lovely to see you, Juggling - certainly praying for a good week for your DCs :) The Daily Gratitudes thread sounds lovely, what a great idea.

Faith, yes, joining with you in thinking of expat and her family today.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 08/07/2013 10:11

Remembering Ailidh, and thinking of you and your family expat Thanks

PositiveAttitude · 08/07/2013 22:20

Hi Juggling

Prayers as I read through.

Tomorrow is a big day in the positive household! DD1 has 2 interviews! Shock for someone who lacks any self esteem this is huge! This is her second and third interview in just 4 days! I am so proud of her and the steps she has taken already to get her life back on track. Please pray that she gets one of these jobs.
I also have a job interview tomorrow. Would love to get the job, its just a temporary one for a few weeks over the summer, but it will bring in some much needed money and I think I will need something to keep myself occupied when DH returns to Cambodia without me.

DS has an interview on Wednesday!

Please pray that we are all successful! It would be so awful if I got a job and DS did, but DD1 didn't!!

DH leaves here in just 2 weeks! I can't believe it has gone so quickly already. Sad

Many thanks,

JugglingFromHereToThere · 08/07/2013 22:32

Thinking of you all for those interviews this week PA - hope they lead to good things for you all.

I need to chase up some job possibilities this week too.

DD got away very well and calmly this morning - even though she thought I was being an embarrassing mother wanting to walk in with her or give her a hug goodbye ! Got a very brief wee hug though, so it's all good Smile
