"By this love you have for one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples": Christian Prayer Thread for April

Tuo · 13/04/2013 23:35

I thought it was about time we started a new thread, seeing as the previous one now has over 600 posts, making it difficult for some people to load it and navigate around it. I used the quote from John 13. 15 that I posted on the previous thread on Maundy Thursday, because I think it sums up what this thread - and this group of people - is all about.

We pray particularly at this time for RoomForALittleOne: that her baby hang on where s/he is for as long as possible and continue to grow in size and strength, and that Room stay well and as pain- and stress-free as possible. Prayers, too, for the medical team looking after them both at this worrying time.

We pray also for:
amberlight ? for her work raising awareness of ASDs, and for her friends who have cancer;
BabyBeatrice and her family ? for continued healing and with thanks for recent good news;
BlackEyedSusan ? for strength to cope with all the many things on her plate, for health for her mum, and for happier times at school for her DD and DS;
BlueTinkerbell ? for work possibilities and for her vocation;
charlottecollinsislost ? for a peaceful holiday, despite the circumstances, and for as pain- and recrimination-free a separation as possible for the sake of all concerned;
Dontsteponthemomeraths ? for her as she dips her toe back in the 'dating pond'; for her ?LM? as he tries to establish contact with his children; for her brother to regain full use of his thumb, following an accident;
DutchOma and Bob ? for health for Bob, and for Oma to feel supported as she cares for him day-to-day; also for Oma's planned trip to Holland;
GingerCurl ? for the successful and (relatively) stress-free completion of her thesis;
HavingALittleFaithBaby ? for as easy a time as is possible during these last days and weeks of her pregnancy;
jann2013 ? for strength for her following the break-up of her marriage, and for her dd who has badly broken her arm;
Kaykat ? for her and her DS to know peace and happiness as they emerge from an abusive relationship, and for the legal issues to be sorted out quickly so that they can get back into their own home;
MadHairDay - for strength as she lives with chronic illness and for the Spring to bring her better health;
MaryBS - for peace and happiness following a difficult situation at Scouts with her DS;
PositiveAttitude ? for her mission overseas and for her family both over there and back here, especially her DD1;
...and for all who post on this thread, for those who lurk, for occasional visitors, and for those known to us who are in need of prayer, whether mentioned here or not.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

ouch faith, that must have hurt.

been poorly all day. overseeing h and his care of the children. cooking/preparing food and reminding about drinks, but escaping upstairs with a sinussy/headachy swollen glands thing. I have read a whole book though. Smile

PositiveAttitude · 17/06/2013 02:07

Praying as I read through.

Bakingtins Prayers for you at this time. I can sympathise with your struggles (One baby died at 8 days, 4 miscarriages, 4 healthy babies born, then adopted another) If you want to chat off board please feel free to PM me.

Faith churches full of Christians are the worst places on earth sometimes! "Love one another so that all will see that you are My disciples!" Pah!!! Love me if my face fits, seems more appropriate sometimes!! And it always seems to hurt so much more when it is the Christians doing it. Sorry, not very helpful!!! Grin

DO How are things with you? Praying for you and Bob.

Sooooo, tomorrow at 11.20 at night we take our first step on our homeward journey! Should arrive home 36 hours later, if there are no delays and the connecting flights, coaches and boats all go smoothly! I cannot wait to see my girls again. Lots to do today in preparation for the off.
This last year has definitely been challenging, but we have seen God in it all. I love the people here and their simplistic views on life. Just because I am staying at home this year and not returning as originally planned we do NOT see this as a failure, or that we have done anything wrong. We know we have been doing what God asked us to do. Now he has asked us to take a different turn. We are totally at peace with this and all the decisions we have made. I just wish the well meaning Christians would not feel the need to enlighten us at to what we have done wrong and why we are not doing what God wants us to do. How do they know what God has told us to do?

Might not be back on until I am safely back in the UK and have caught up with my sleep!

Only 12 days until DD3s wedding. The next 12 days are going to be mad!!! I am not sure if the dress I have waiting at home for me is goig to be ok, If its not then I will have to do a mad shopping expedition to the mainland through my jetlagged state and hope for the best!!! Pray that the dress at home is wonderful and makes me look gorgeous!!!

RoomForALittleOne · 17/06/2013 08:18

Thanking God that my mum is coming today. I'm having lots of period pain type cramps this morning Hmm I have been warned that I could have this for days/weeks as it is DC4. Oh, deep joy! I've been up half the night with an upset stomach and a snoring husband

HadALittleFaithBaby · 17/06/2013 08:57

Ah Room but upset stomach can be a sign of things getting started too? Pleased to her your Mum is coming. Praying its helpful to you :)

Praying for health bes.

PA it sounds like you've been guided well and trust in your decision. Praying the next two weeks are calm, blessed and for fine weather on the day!

Tuo · 17/06/2013 20:30

Hello all. Flying visit I'm afraid. I'm briefly back home, but away again from Wednesday. You're in my thoughts and prayers, though, even though I am not on here much, and I've tried to keep up with the thread on my phone even when I haven't been posting.

I'd appreciate prayers for me to work better with DH... He has pointed out this weekend how much more than me he does around the place generally, and I know it's true. This is partly because we do have a bit of a role-reversed family (as in, I'm the main breadwinner, while he does more at home) but even so I have slipped into bad habits of taking him for granted, and I am trying hard not to do so any more. Feeling a bit Sad - as if I've let everyone down - but hoping to work through it and make a real difference. Work is mad, but I can still be more supportive generally. Oh, and prayers for safe travels, too. And for a scary work meeting on Wednesday before I go. (Sorry... take, take, take, atm! Blush)

Praying for all, but especially for:
Room - for baby to put in an appearance soon;
PA - for a safe journey, a dress that makes you look glamorous and fab, and for peace with the decision to stay in the UK, in the knowledge that it's the right thing for everyone;
Faith - for your church situation, which sounds very hard; praying God will provide you with the community you're looking for very soon;
BES - praying you feel better soon;
BakingTins - I am so sorry for your loss; praying that the way forward is revealed to you, and that your family will find happiness after so much sadness;
Oma - praying for you and Bob, as always... for health and support and friendship;
Momey - for your DD to be happier at school and at home ;
Kay - for movement in the legal logjam very soon;
and for everyone who needs prayers at this time.

See you all when I get back, in a week or so...

Hello all...sorry I've been a bit AWOL.

PA, so glad to hear the decision is made and you're feeling peaceful, praying now for a good return and for things to work through for the best for you all, and for a great wedding.

I am keeping you all in my prayers, just sorry for my quietness of late, life has become a bit manic but that's no excuse really. I have been fairly well which I am thankful for.

bakingtins, so sorry to hear of your mc and all you have been through. prayers.

Blue, how are things?

Love to all...

Dutchoma · 19/06/2013 21:29

We are planning another MN get together in Northampton, 17th or 24th August. Just testing the water, haven't phoned the church yet. PM me if you are interested or want further information.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/06/2013 22:39

yes.

shattered, sore suncreamy/polleny eyes. waiting for the chicken to cook. why did i put it in so late?

how's that baby room?

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2013 07:42

rremembered, put it in late as we walked down to town to buy them shoes, then hd a picnic in the garden as I was too tired to cook....then neighbous child came out to play. there are not many children around here so I let them play a bit longer

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2013 07:47

oops. more forgetting. dentist today.

RoomForALittleOne · 20/06/2013 09:11

So prayers of praise and thanks would be good. I'm 37 weeks today and no sign of baby yet. I'm also appreciating the rain today as my hayfever is awful and there's not much that I can take at 37 weeks pregnant.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2013 09:51

did they not give you nasal spray and eye drops? (hayfever during pegnancy too. it is so good to be able to take a tablet again)

got to take ds to the dentist. he is off school with a temperature.

madhairday · 20/06/2013 09:51

Definitely giving thanks, Room, and praying for a good rest of pgcy for you and good safe delivery.

Oma, 17th might be good for us, have commented on other thread.

BES, hope you feel a little less shattered today and the dentist goes OK.

How is Bob doing?

Dutchoma · 20/06/2013 10:39

Bob's ok. What is very nice is that I saw a friend from church yesterday on my way into the hospital and mentioned to him how I felt we had got off the radar at church a bit. Not surprising after a year of very little change. He rang me just now and arranged to visit tomorrow afternoon.

cloutiedumpling · 20/06/2013 11:15

Room - have you tried prevalin? It is a nasal spray and our local pharmacy told me it was safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If I could find the box I'd check for you. It puts a gel barrier inside your nostrils which stops the pollen getting in. I found it made the symptoms bearable, but didn't get rid of them completely. I was also given eye drops which I think were made by optrex. This was after I had gone into the pharmacy while pregnant when my hayfever was so bad that my eyes and nose were running constantly, I could hardly see let alone drive or work and I was threatening to use a bottle brush to clean out my sinuses!

Dutchoma · 20/06/2013 11:32

Right. Excitement. I have booked our church for the 17th August for a MN Christian meet-up.
Start at about 10.30, lunch, trip out to the Umbrella Fair, tea and home.
Children very welcome. I am hoping that some of our young mothers at church will come to for all or part of the day.
I shall be looking for people to help with the catering as I cannot do it myself this time, much as I would like to. PM me if you would like more information and the address of the church.

cloutiedumpling · 20/06/2013 11:57

I've found the box. It is suitable for pregnant women. I still use it because it doesn't have antihistamines so I can use it alongside other medication without overdosing.

RoomForALittleOne · 20/06/2013 20:41

Thank-you. I think that Faith may have recommended it to me before. I'm seeing the GP on Monday so that I can discuss it then as it will continue to be an issue when breastfeeding. The pollen count is quite low until then and given that it has just poured with rain, I reckon that there isn't much pollen in the air now.

amberlight · 20/06/2013 21:15

Praying through still, which I do even if I don't post...

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2013 23:41

grr. 2 children in my bed now.

dentist ok. the tempoary cown is not quite rright though, which i only found out when the anaesthetic wore off.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/06/2013 14:51

aggghh. school run and I am tired. laast night was not conducive to sleep. two wriggly companions with too many elbows, knees and boney shoulders. (yawn)

Kaykat · 23/06/2013 09:24

Hi everyone, whilst I often get moments of sadness and desperation life for me is on the whole busy and happy. I am very frustrated that my H is currently so successful at delaying everything legal to the point where actually nothing has changed or improved in months. So please can i ask for prayers that something moves forward whether mediation or court application and if the latter that my solicitor will act speedily.

Dutchoma · 23/06/2013 10:16

Praying Kay

madhairday · 23/06/2013 13:46

Praying that things will move forward quickly Kay so you can move on. It must be so frustrating and upsetting for you to be so stuck.

RoomForALittleOne · 24/06/2013 07:14
