time for a new spiritual thread about all things woo?

angelelle · 22/02/2013 10:21

Hello
new poster on this part of mn and noticed looking back on this board that there used to be a lot more threads about all things woo. Is there any interest to start a general discussion thread? Be really nice to keep this thread to discussing various topics within the realm of spirituality and ask for those who would like too debate whether I am crazy or believe in unicorns to start another thread if they wish to discuss this:) Ty.

So me? Well i am a reiki master...did my masters about 5 years ago but have sort of come away from it for various reasons. not sure if i want to continue with it. i believe in it but not sure its for me

At the moment I am quite into all things mediumship as i have found myself at a crossroads in life. amazing what a range of psychics there are out there. i have personally never had a reading where i thought the reader was completely accurate but i know many who have. my freakiest one was one who told me something about dd's appearance which i had mentioned to someone else recently. i have no idea how she knew it and still a bit freaked out!

I also seem to attract lovely woo people into my life. recently I met up with someone I did a course with. I had not mentioned anything about my interest in all things spiritual and she started to tell me about a reading she had and how her parents house is haunted. So now we meet regularly for coffee with our dds and have spiritual conversations.

Oh and i am also really into law of attraction.

So that's it from me. Please post if there is an interest in a thread of this nature. If not I shall ride into the sunset on my unicorn :)

Oh zombie i am sending you hugs and of course healing. And as you know yourself, till they've investigated, i could still be nothing. Positive thinking is a great aid to healing too. Hope your feeling beter soon x

marissab · 28/02/2013 20:08

And don't forget, when your at your lowest, things can only get better Smile sending you both healing and strength.

Pinkshaman · 01/03/2013 08:22

Ooh lovely - a woo thread! I'm a big woo and I run workshops where we create dreamboards and talk about manifesting.

I'm an empath too and do healing, use cards, work with different energies - all sorts. I've most recently started walking a shamanic path and realised that its what I have instinctively done anyway. It's what has resonated the most with me. I work with the divine feminine a lot, but not exclusively as I feel the divine masculine is important too.

Lovely to connect with everyone. I will send some love and healing too Zombie.

angelelle · 01/03/2013 10:10

Welcome pink. lovely to hear from another empath. I am currently trying to develop my empathic abilities but guess I don't always trust what I'm feeling. if you have time I would love to hear how you define an empath and how you work empathically

Hi, have just found this thread. I have been told my DD is an indigo child by a "special" lady I have consulted many times over the years for readings of various sorts.
I have also read The Secret: I'm unsure about certain aspects, esp with regard to material/ monetary things. For me personally, it just doesn't sit right; to use special/ spiritual/ sacred ways for material things??? does any one else agree?

I also struggle with finding the right words in this area: it's very important to me to know exactly what something means. I'm very drawn to this but when I'm reading stuff am put off by, for eg. language that relates specifically to a religion. I am really searching to understand what "inner voice" means to other people . "Soul" is another eg. it's loaded with Christian baggage but some how belongs here more I feel.

I guess I'm just at the start of my journey.....just can't quite find the right path yet.

Oopla · 01/03/2013 20:36

lady- I can relate to what you're saying. I think just keep reading lots and see what you're drawn to. I love reading spiritual/ religious texts because I think most of the terminology is very interchangeable. That personal feeling, inside, that knowing, can be found just about anywhere Grin

Good luck on your journey

angelelle · 01/03/2013 21:46

Lady I can also relate. when i started on my reiki path I read a lot of stuff and not all of it sat well with me. Thete were q few years when I took a step back from it all but am now starting to explore again
i guess its finding what you feel comfortable with.

my piece of exciting news is that a friend called earlier and invited me to see a medium tomorrow with her. am tres excited and will report back tomorrow

how did you get on angelelle?

angelelle · 04/03/2013 19:54

Well the tarot reading was scarily spot on although there was one bit that confused me and is still confusing me so a bit annoyed at myself for not clarifying while I was there . she also did a chakra reading which was very spot on too. She did get in contact with a spirit on my mums side but no one i recognised so not sure about that. The most interesting part was a timeline where I went both back and forth in time. can not hand on my heart say it wasn't my imagination but it was very cool. I saw two past lives and got a glimpse into the future . She definitely had a gift but I guess I wasn't completely bowled over iyswim.

What was the bit that confused you angelelle? Could she have meant it that way to leave you thinking on it? Sounds like a really great reading. How does the chakra reading work?

elfycat · 04/03/2013 20:45

Hi Woo People.

A few years ago I started doing a hobby a year - learning about tarot cards, spells, palm reading etc (I'm pretty good at palm reading it turns out).

It was the year I did crystals that was interesting. I was supposed to go onto tasseography (tea leaf reading) the next year but I couldn't put the crystals down. So later in the spring I started the 2-year diploma in crystal healing. I'm pretty good at it too, quite intuitive. I started seeing energy auras (like a heat haze) around people in the second year. I've just qualified as a Bach Flower Practitioner and am finishing off study for a Vibrational Essences qualification. I am hoping to get out and make a quarter-moon moonstone essence tonight (in an hour or so) if the clouds stay away.

Never did get round to the tea leaves.

angelelle · 04/03/2013 21:21

Hi oopia. in the chakra reading i picked a card for each of the seven chakras and she looked at each one so for me for example my lower chakras were quite good whereas i pulled swords for my higher chakras which mesnt i am thinking too much so we looked at ways i could work on this.

in the reading i asked to look at relationship and the central catd was spot on with regards to who i was asking about. but when i picked another card on this person a female card popped out and i immediately thought OW but the description of the card fitted me and i never got clear on who this female was. not easy to explain without going through whole reading and being personal!

Welcome elfycat. i am interested in pslm reading. Sounds fascinating all you do.

Oopla · 05/03/2013 00:10

Ah, hope it becomes clearer for you angelelle, lots involved in her readings. I've never been to one but heard amazing things from people.

Hi elfycat, liking all your interests. Auras REALLY fascinate me. Can you see them all the time now or do they become visible after concentrated effort? I'm absolutely convinced babies can see them. You sound busy!

suburbophobe · 05/03/2013 00:30

Oh, love it. Marking my place.

I am into Astrology, Angels, Crystals, Spirituality.

Been there, done it! It's part of my daily life.

Thank you for starting this thread. There is so much anti-woo - LOL- on MN....

angelelle · 05/03/2013 08:46

Ha ha yes so far we have been immune from the anti wooers "makes White protective barrier around thread". Welcome all:)

Actually if anyone on here is a tarot reader and wouldn't mind if I pm them re my spread I would be very grateful as then I can go into more detail. thanks.

Hi angelelle.

I do the white protective barrier thing too. I often add the blue marbelling of sodalite over the top - as a layer to soften the effect of people's negativity. Or Haematite which just reflects it off before it can get in.

Palm reading I learned from books. Some I found useful while others didn't work for me. It's all just a focus anyway, to get you to tune into intuition so I just disregard what doesn't gel.

Hi Oopla.

I sort of turn on the aura thing if I want to and sometimes when I don't. I have a harder time shutting it down sometimes but if I don't and I haven't set myself up properly I get headaches and fuzzy eyes. Can you imaging the looks I get from relative strangers when I say 'Oh blast, I've turned on the aura thing' while massaging my eyes. I find shoulder/neck areas are the best to start looking. Just stare past and let your sight find a middle distance. Then try to be aware of... well I think of it as a heat haze or shadow, I found it easier to do in bright sunlight to begin with. I started seeing them after a long meditation with a piece of selenite so that might be worth a try, though I may have just been ready. Worst case is you've got a pretty crystal and have sat quietly and at peace.

NotTreadingGrapes · 05/03/2013 14:44

Can I join you please? Smile

Am wooest of woo (have PMd a few times under different MN names with a few of you, and I think I did a tarot reading for one of you, but a few years back now)

Going back now to read all of your experiences!

Panadbois · 06/03/2013 07:40

Morning all. I think I could get into tea leaves reading as in the development circle, I've been getting signs in the carpet patterns!! Weird!!

I would love a tarot card reading if anyone can help Grin

CelticPixie · 06/03/2013 10:22

Funny I've found this thread as I had a very odd experience a few weeks ago.

I go to Weight Watchers. It's held in a community centre and often gets very busy. This particular week I was sitting there chatting with some people, waiting for my number to be called for the weigh in when I noticed a woman walking through the room with what can only be described as a blurry "heat haze" type of thing behind her. It disappeared almost soon as I'd seen it but it freaked me out quite a bit. I now wonder if it was an aura that I saw?

bluebeardsbabe · 06/03/2013 12:38

Op here. changed my name:)

Hi Celtic

could have been an aura..or a ghost? A friend just told me that their old house was haunted. they were having a dinner party and one of the guests just stood up and sat down. When they asked her why she said'that person just needed to squeeze by' well there was no other person there.....

I am very curious about tea leaf readings Must also pick up the courage to go tp a spirtualist church one day....watch this space.

CelticPixie · 06/03/2013 14:26

I did think maybe it was a ghost at the time, but after doing some investigating I think I may have seen this woman's aura. It was literally a split second and then it was gone. Not the first time something strange has happened to me I've got to be honest, in fact strangeness seems to follow the women in my family around. My mum has seen several "ghosts", her sister sees auras all the time and their mother used to do seances in their living room.

elfycat · 06/03/2013 14:40

If it seemed to be around her it could be an aura. I only see them for a few inches but they do go out for a way. If it seemed to be a blurry separate shape then either a ghost or one of her spiritual guides? Go with your instinct and first impression as that's what it's all about.

elfycat · 06/03/2013 14:43

LOL x-post after DD1 bashed her hand and DH called between writing and posting!

My sisters are also sensitive to things woo. Apparently we get it from DF who is as non-woo as you like but then suddenly comes out with odd experiences/hunches.

bluebeardsbabe · 06/03/2013 15:04

My df (now passed away ) was the same. totally non woo but sometimes came up with a gem like a near death experience or dreaming about his own mothers passing
