Maybe we could do a virtual meet-up via Skype

Dutchoma · 15/06/2013 09:51

I haven't even ever used Skype Grin

UniqueAndAmazing · 15/06/2013 16:15

I've met DO and Baroque.
but none of the others from this thread :)

madhairday · 18/06/2013 19:50

I would love to meet you all. We should sort something out, we could come to Northampton again so it's better for DO? I'm happy to do that. (speaking of Northampton DO, do you happen to know St Giles at all?)

niminy, have been praying, and so pleased it went well. Praying for you in that 2 week wait, I remember it well...

Dutchoma · 18/06/2013 20:00

Yes, I know quite a few people at St Giles, some of whom moved their from our church. I think they were the church that started Street Church, a drop in centre on a Sunday afternoon. It is one of the liveliest churches in town.

Tomorrow I have a hospital appointment to get myself on the list for the removal of a cataract. Should have happened three years ago and I chickened out. Now I really have trouble seeing. After tomorrow I hope to have some idea of the time scale of this whole event.
Blue has suggested we wait till August, which would be quite a good plan as there are not so many church events happening then.
I would need help with the cooking, last time I made a huge chili con carne, gluten free and did baked potatoes to go with it.
Won't be able to do as much this time, but I can organise the church, hopefully.
After tomorrow.
In the meantime I would be grateful for prayer, I am still terrified and everything is now much more difficult than it was before.

UniqueAndAmazing · 18/06/2013 21:37

oma you must get your cataract done. [stern]
you will be very happy once you have, but I am praying for strength and courage for you x

madhairday · 18/06/2013 22:14

Wouldn't expect you to do cooking, Oma, we could bring our own packed lunch or bring and share thing :)

I'll msg you about the St Giles thing.

Dutchoma · 19/06/2013 09:30

Oh, I will, this time Nickel. It's only just the first appointment at the hospital and may be many weeks before I even hear about the date for the actual operation.

niminypiminy · 19/06/2013 09:54

Good that you are going to get it done Oma. I can understand you being terrified though -- I feel horrified at the thought of anything being done to my eyes. I am praying that the people at the hospital will help you to feel confident and calm that it will all be well.

I would love, love, love to do a Northampton meetup (perhaps we could do skype at the same time so Milly can join in August would be good but we might have to dodge about with holidays. I am sure we can manage it. And we can do bring and share.

This thought is making me feel very happy! And it's timely as it's a stressful week, what with waiting out the BAP decision (what do they do at Church House that they need five working days to process the reports??) and getting to a crisis point with the boys' school which the DfE are trying to force us to agree to become a sponsored academy Angry. So the idea of a meet-up with you all seems wonderful [smile}

niminypiminy · 19/06/2013 09:54

or even Smile

Dutchoma · 19/06/2013 10:22

The church has many, many gizmos, we have done conversations with people in India and Rumania before, so Milly should be possible. Not sure that we can engage the brains behind the gizmos, but we can cross that bridge...

cloutiedumpling · 19/06/2013 10:46

Could I join in by Skype too? I lurk most days but am far too far away to join you all in person.

Good luck at the hospital DO. They are used to people being nervous and are really good at putting people at ease. Coincidentally, my Mum is going for the same appointment today (but at a different hospital).

Dutchoma · 19/06/2013 12:14

Would be amazing if it was the same hospital!

cloutiedumpling · 19/06/2013 13:38

I'd guess that the hospitals are about 500 miles apart!

madhairday · 19/06/2013 15:48

I'm not around too much in August, but am in the third week (around 10th-17th iirc) if that's any good to anyone? Would LOVE to do this. :)

Bluetinkerbell · 19/06/2013 17:50

3rd week of August would be great, we're back from holiday then and no job so time to do something then :)

niminypiminy · 19/06/2013 18:38

Oh no! We're on holiday that week! (At the moment it's our only week away)

Dutchoma · 19/06/2013 19:57

Well, I did get no idea at all of the time scale of this operation. There was no doubt that it was a necessity, I could not see the top letter on the board with my right eye covered. I have said that I need at least a fortnight's warning as I need to find respite care for Bob.

The dates would have to be the 17th August or the 24th, but I have not spoken to the church yet.
You're never going to manage a date when everyone can come Sad

niminypiminy · 19/06/2013 20:57

I could do either 17th or 24th as we are back from holiday on 16th

madhairday · 20/06/2013 09:49

Could do 17th at a push, but going on holiday on 18th so it might be difficult....really will try to though if that date is decided. Am away on 24th, but do go ahead with what's best for most people :)

Dutchoma · 20/06/2013 11:33

Right. Excitement. I have booked our church for the 17th August for a MN Christian meet-up.
Start at about 10.30, lunch, trip out to the Umbrella Fair, tea and home.
Children very welcome. I am hoping that some of our young mothers at church will come to for all or part of the day.
I shall be looking for people to help with the catering as I cannot do it myself this time, much as I would like to. PM me if you would like more information and the address of the church.

thanksamillion · 20/06/2013 11:57

Ooh, 17th is looking ok for me at the moment if it was possible to join you virtually for a little bit! If it's going to be a huge hassle then please don't worry. Life here is somewhat hard to plan so I may not be free by then but I will try and keep things clear.

cloutiedumpling · 20/06/2013 12:36

Me too! Our schools go back that week though so only free 'til early afternoon.

UniqueAndAmazing · 20/06/2013 14:19

have you emailed Baroque?
She might want to go too :)

Dutchoma · 20/06/2013 14:31

She is one of my friends on Facebook and she has seen my message that I have booked the church and liked it. She came last time and it was a real blessing. Still no chance you might come?
