HiddenHome - I'm so sorry DS2 has had a bad experience / bad year with this teacher. A teacher should never make a pupil feel like that. I can see why it has tarnished his prep for First Communion. Does it help to remember that this is a sacrament that reaches far beyond our humanity. How does he feel himself about it all? Can you get him a book suited to children preparing to make him feel special and help him to understand?
Such a shame about DS1. Not easy but I always tell myself that once my DC are teenagers, I will never force them to go to church or to receive sacraments. They need to discover their own personal faith for themselves. We do get some adults in the RCIA group that I run, come along because they refused confirmation as a teen but now want to be confirmed as an adult.

As for you, it sounds like you need a bit of tlc. It sounds like you're juggling a lot and struggling to find God in the middle of it all. Go easy on yourself and try just asking Gid to take some of your troubles and carry them for you for a bit.

Wish I could be more help but be assured of my prayers c

well done on your BAP ninimy Grin

hidden - that's really crap :(

UniqueAndAmazing · 26/05/2013 14:41

done my vests.
they look ace Grin

and they're all wrapped up.
dpoke to cw2 about how they're getting on. nvw had such a ridiculously fast birth that it took a lot out of her (5 hour labour) (especially underbeneath I'm sure) and she was in hospital till the Tuesday.
they're home now and resting. nv said he's forgotten what sleep is. Grin
I'm now worried for her health, but cw2 said that she thought if there was anything more serious that they would have said.

I've been umming and ahhing about emailing, but decided to leave it a bit and I'm glad I did. :)

SESthebrave · 26/05/2013 22:00

Any photos of the vests? Good that they are home and resting.

UniqueAndAmazing · 26/05/2013 22:21

not of the finished article, byt I posted pics of the designs further up.
I'm sending a whatever vest to niminy so she might photo it for you :)
it's weird, I just feel like it'd spoil the surprise Blush

niminypiminy · 27/05/2013 09:17

Ooh very exciting! I can't wait to see it! The Very Important Nephew is going to arrive on Thursday (planned CS) and I'm going to visit him next week, so I'll be able to take the vest!

UniqueAndAmazing · 27/05/2013 10:36

oh lovely :)
let's hope royal mail doesn't lose it!

Is anyone doing the Good Morning Girls Summer study? An on-line friend of mine is leading a group so I was thinking about joining in.

They are studying a book called Anything by Jennie Allen which I have never heard of at all. It does look interesting and people sign up and join groups through a forum. Seems like a nice way to do a book study!

www.goodmorninggirls.org/2013/05/super-easy-direct-links-upcoming-summer-study

Just thought I would mention it as I hadn't heard of the study until my friend told me. :)

Jaynebxl · 28/05/2013 06:03

What's it about quizzy? Never heard of Good Morning Girls summer study.

Have been lurking with not a lot to say really. Congrats to nv and nvw on their baby. Hope all is well now.

We are on holiday right now ... We booked this holiday before we sold our house or had any inkling we would be moving imminently, and at times have assumed we would be in our new home by now / wondered if we would need to cancel the hol or come back early to move / imagined enjoying the peace of the hol to recover from the stress of moving... Instead we still don't have any sign of even an exchange date! We will be considering the same things about our summer holiday at this rate!

quizzywizz · 28/05/2013 08:56

Good Morning Girls is a website and they do ( I think!) 3 or 4 studies a year - some are on Bible books and others are on book books.

Basically I think you join a group from the GMG forum and then you all read along together and post daily on what you have got from the passage and any observations you have. My friend says it works really well and there are groups for pretty much anyone and they do prayer requests and share stories and stuff.

The book description says:

"Safe. Comfortable. Happy.

Words we all love. Feelings we want. Even crave. We may love God, but being that he's invisible, words like comfortable seem to feel better faster.

We are all chasing something. Our hearts were made to run hard and fast after things that move us. But as a generation we are all beginning to stir and wake up, identifying that these words don't satisfy for long, especially when compared to God. If God is real, and we are going to live with Him forever, shouldn't He be everything?

Caught in this familiar haze of worldly happiness and empty pursuits, Jennie Allen and her husband Zac prayed a courageous prayer of abandonment that took them on an adventure God had written for them.

"God, we will do anything. Anything,"

Anything is a prayer of surrender that will spark something. A prayer that will move us to stop chasing things that just make us feel happy and start living a life that matters. A life that is...

Surrendered. Reckless. Courageous.

If we truly know a God worth giving anything for, everything changes."

Jaynebxl · 29/05/2013 21:58

Just home from taking the DCs to my mum's for a couple of days, and Nickel's Whatever vest was waiting for me. It's lovely -- you are unique and amazing and talented! Thank you so much. Am going to visit the newly born Very Important Nephew next week so I shall take it with me Smile

Italiangreyhound · 01/06/2013 10:51

Hiddenhome I am sorry to hear about your DD and the teacher.

Given it is June and they break up in July I would be tempted to leave it now but to speak to the Head Teacher again after your DS has finished his class (summer break up) or actually moved on to the next one (autumn) and just say you were not happy with how the year went and how your complaint was dealt with/that things did not improve. That way you will be able to come across as someone who wants the head to learn from your bad experience. If the head does not take note then she/he is an idiot!" IMHO.

To be honest what I always do when there are problems at school (we have had a few) is ask DD (also year 3) what she wants me to do - me to talk to the teacher/not talk to the teacher or her to talk to the teacher. If she wants me to, I do, if not I don't. The only warning or caution I would say in my own situation is that if the thing is majourly trivial I would not speak to teacher even if DD wanted me to, I would tell her to speak to teacher herself. And if it really was a major bullying or discrimination thing I would speak to teacher even if DD said not to. In most cases I have done what dd wanted and it worked out OK. How does your ds feel?

Please try and get the joy from your son's special day and do not allow this awful teacher to spoil it for you.

Ninny good luck with the BAP (cannot say that without thinking of a filled bread roll!). Hope it goes well. Is it pioneering you are into? Which part of UK are you are where might you study? PM me, please if you would rather not say here, or feel free to ignore me!

UniqueAndAmazing · 01/06/2013 10:52

Glad it arrived okay, and that you liked it Grin
thank you :)

Bluetinkerbell · 01/06/2013 21:12

niminy met my new DDO today, she's lovely! :) had DD3 with me, who was very grizzly, but she was absolutely fine with it. When we finished our meeting, DH wasn't there yet, so we sat and just had an informal chat about loads of things for another 40 minutes! She also gave me home work, which previous DDO never did! Feeling very good about our decision to move and change of diocese!
Thinking of you and praying your BAP goes well!

madhairday · 02/06/2013 17:38

Hello all!

Lovely holiday and health OK :)

Very excited about niminy's BAP and Blue's new DDO. What's happening about moving etc Blue? We must meet up v soon. Italian, it's my dh who is a pioneer minister, though niminy may want to go that way too, coudln't remember if she said. I'd recommend it (and not at the same time!)

I like the sound of the book study, have we got a linky? Maybe we should do it on here?

Hope you all had a good half term.

Italiangreyhound · 02/06/2013 18:01

Thanks Mad.

How is everyone, good Sunday? We had a Viva service today. Might start a thread on hope, anyone got any good stories of hope??

Italiangreyhound · 02/06/2013 18:08

Hi everyone, not been around for a while due to RL (good stuff, just busy Smile).

DH is in the UK this week with the Pastor from the nearest church to us. It will be his first time there (the Pastor not DH obviously) and was the first time he'd flown in 20 years, the last time being on a military flight to Poland! I think it will all be a lot for him to take in Grin

Last week we had the opening ceremony for the community rooms and park that we started working on in April. It was really great and quite a lot of villagers came. You can see it here on facebook if you're interested.

Italian I get Viva updates on fb because someone from them slightly randomly came out to stay with us (not in a work capacity). They seem to do interesting stuff.
